Had my first 7s game in ages, and it was FUUUN!
Too bad Nightbird wasn't able to give me a fair challenge, or should I say Nuffle..? |

Want some BB7s (tournament) action?
BB7s Scheduled SMACKs are back!
Weekly 8 team knockout tournaments, the first one starting on Friday 16th - deadline for application is 20:00 bbtime.
We'll start as many 8 team brackets in each TV category as possible - so just apply as many teams of any TV you want (order of application will determine which teams enter)! Grandfathered teams are allowed in, too. |

Update:
Right now BB7s are going through an evaluation period. The first full season with the CRP rule set is approaching and another BB7s tournament with a fun twist will be announced soon! |

Hi
As this is still the official BB7 thread despite the inactivity I thought this the best place to post my questions
Are BB7 still active? There doesn't seem to have been many games played recently? I love the format and would like to get involved.
Now that the new client is out and had increased 7s support will there be an evaluatin and re-vamp of the rules? It should make things a lot simpler. Also, do you know if/when the FUMBBL site will provide full 7s support to match the client or does it already provide all the support needed.
Will the 7s testing group be re-opened to support the testing of any changes?
7s has a real appeal for me. I've played it tabletop several times (using the smaller pitch) and played rugby 7s irl (though I'm not nearly fit enough for that thank you!). The biggest appeal however is the reduced match time so games can be squeezed in more readily, and the constant turnover of players keeping things at the low end power-wise.
Just wanted to ask
Cheers

hey josh.
it is still somewhat active, at least the IRC channel #bb7s is still alive and sometimes even occupied and we see a game or two played. but the activity is low and the staff is working on everything you mentioned basically as we speak.
there are some smacks going on anyway, so look out for those.
the client support is there now to allow better handling of 7s and all our thanks go to Kalimar for including those options. the site however is not yet ready to apply those options to the [L]eague division and we will have to wait to benefit from Kalimars work until Christer found the time and energy to enable all those for [L].
are you taking any bribes, Christer? |

For those who get notified on news in this thread: I've just introduced rule and roster changes for BB7s in this thread. Bring back life to our crazy league! |

One thing i did notice about the roster changes is that some teams didn't even have to field any linos at all. That seemed a bit odd to me.
That and i wanna use my roster of just 6 ogres >.> Cause snots don't deserve a place on the team. |

You always have to field at least three linos (unless you have mercenaries as well, which implies you have a huge TV difference), since you are only allowed four positionals on any team.
If you find a better wording for it in the rules (I didn't want to use the term "positionals" there, since technically the "lineman" is a positional as well, if I understood correctly), I'm happy to improve there! |

Oh okays I just didn't realise you'd created another thread listing the new rules until after i'd posted that comment and was still going by what was listed on the group page, my bad XD the 4 positionals per team rule is a good one but does favour some teams over others, some times pretty heavily. Like Elf teams hardly bothered due to Ag4 all round. Most undead teams on the other hand are at quite a loss due to relying on their positionals for almost everything. |

I am very well aware of that. BB7s have already been favoring elves and they might even do more so to some extend now. However, I expect there to be some (potential) counters, as well as the league's unique dynamics. Balance differs from the known one, but that has always been the case in 7s. I hope coaches still pick the races they personally like and try to achieve something with them, experimenting with their weaknesses and potentials in this special environment.
If you play to win, elves might be an obvious choice. But be aware of the awaking as soon as you run into a dwarf team, a slann team with four developed blitzers or a chaos team specialized in hunting elves, including a minotaur with tentacles...
And as always, elves rely on more rolls than other teams and with no team RRs around, it might hurt from time to time.
I'm not too worried about this as long as coaches don't get frustrated and the league keeps going. Right now I can only hope that this will be the case and tweak the rules here and there if I feel it being appropriate.
On a side note: I recently wondered how an undead/necro team would perform (against elvers) where the zombies chose Tackle as first skill... |

I doubt undead or Necro would do well with only 4 positionals allowed. I suppose i could go 2 Wolves and 2 wights and i might do alright. Or Undead with 2 wights and 2 ghouls, but then lack the major hitting power and have zombies that just can't keep up with the majority of the team or opponents.
But it would all be testing. Khemri i can imagine would have the hardest job.
I think for the majority of teams 5 positionals would make more sense. |

Isn't it time to start BB7 league now when the new FFB options work?
