Not to take anything away from your team, it's just not a good representation of humans in a major.

Thanks for the insight, you reckon my Necros or humans would stand a better chance at the black cup? Sorry to keep asking possibly retarded questions, sometimes the stuff that I don't get it is the stuff that seems like no brainer stuff to most people.

So, back to Necros.

Will they have a chance?

What skills to take on the POMBing Wight and Blodging Wolf?

Sadly my Necros will not be entering the black cup. My Clawpombing wolf died on turn 1 after a blitz, the team just has an altogether different style without him. I was only playing the game so i could get them ready for the cup as well. Oh well, maybe next time.

So, looking through the thread, I decided to compile some thoughts together.

1. Necro needs a killer Wolf.
2. Necro needs a ball carrier Wolf.
3. Necro need a back-up killer Wight.
4. Necro need an all purpose Wight.
5. Necro have a low tv ceiling. Both Zombies and Ghouls just suck, bloating the team.
6. +ST could be interesting on the ball carrier wolf, a FG or a Wight.

Then there's a few oddities such as if kick is worthwhile. Wiz's are nice but not necessarily reliable to obtain.

Using all of this and Azure's proposed team as a base I came up with the following ideal build:

WW(Carrier): Block, Dodge, +AG, SS, SH (120 + 120)
WW(Killer): Block, Dodge, MB, PO, JU, Tackle (120 + 140)
FG(roadblock): Block, Guard (120 + 40)
FG(roadblock): Block, Guard (120 + 40)
Wight(all purpose): Guard, MB, Dodge, Tackle, +ST ( 90 + 140)
Wight(killer): MB, PO, Tackle, JU, [Daunt, Jugg, Pro, or Grab] ( 90 + 110)
Ghoul(ball popper): Wrestle, Strip, Tackle (70 + 60)
2 Zombies: DP (80 + 40)
1 Zombie: Kick (40 +20)
4 zombies: rookie (160)
3 rr (210)
10 ff (100)
2030

Areas where I'm really uncertain? Kick Zombie, the Ghoul, if Block/Guard FG's are enough, and what exactly the killer wight should look like(I think frenzy is overkill with two wolves, for instance).

Thing is Tzij, I don't find that that scary.

I mean, it's obviously good...but ideal teams to win majors with? It's not that good!

Personally, I think Necro will need a build similar to the one above, but one player who is at least double-statted, and possibly one where he has 2 rolls of either +AG/+ST. Wood Elf teams go up against far nastier teams than that necro team on a regular basis, and Chaos more bashy ones.

I would however fear a Necro team with a +AG + ST blodging Woof.

Fans pelting my wolfs with rocks stopped my necros from winning a major

what happens when 2 or more of the core player are knocked out/missing?

maybe a few better developed zombies as supporter could help to take the pressure of the core player - I always feel that my Necros are easier to play when I have at least one Guard (+ block,..) Zombie. Also, there were a few games where a block, fend Zombie hold a flank all on his own...

I have seen necro teams with ST5 wights. AG5 wights. ST5 AG4 wolves and any number of ST4/AG4 whatevers.

None of them are that scary frankly (that doesn't mean they are bad teams or easy to beat) because the real issue is that the supporting cast is weak for the TV the team winds up at.

Others have said it already, zombies and ghouls are just terrible at higher TVs (well ghouls are kind of terrible at any TV). Zombies are great disposable fodder, but that's all they can be, if you start sticking skills on them they just cost 100k and are MA4 AG2.

I don't know how you get around that, I don't know why mummies should be so much better than FGs, but they are, especially ST6 ones.

It pains me to say it because I really enjoy playing necro and I find the team to be far more interesting than Undead or the other nominal AG3 races. But, they just plateau somewhere in the mid TV range and if you take them to 2000k and face other developed 2000k teams they struggle as they don't have the built in tools most other teams have, so for them to acquire those tools they have to pay more in TV to get there. Like your killer wolf... pomb is 60k, and taking dodge/sidestep doesn't really help him that much in his job. Neither does frenzy frankly.

3 Zombies: DP (120 + 60)
6 zombies: rookie (240)
3 rr (210)
10 ff (100)
2170

Is a lot better and you don't even get a wiz!

You're assuming 4 +ST on the same team, which I have barely ever had in all my time here on Fumbbl. One of those +ST players also has 2 doubles, the other also has +Ag, while both the others have 1 double.

Unless you somehow unearth britnoth's skillroll cheat it's just not gonna happen......

Maybe that's why they are forlorn...

Most important factors at high TV are base stats and skill access and Necros fall down on both.
