Welcome to the grotty little tournament, i'd like to thank Puplechest and his staff(shadow46x2, Qaz, Synn, Rijssiej, Purplegoo, SillySod and somertown, just for the case you didnt know) for the great work.

Azure's team is pretty strong, all 8 positionals are available. And a chainsaw will add some additional bashpower. On the downside niggles on 2 lion warriors and on a +st lino might hurt them with virus as a HandiCap-roll. 100k cash and a wiz was allready bought. Just 4 RRs might be not enough but game will prove...
StanRichardson's dwarfs are a pretty normal dwarf team with a ag4 blodge blitzer and a st4 blitzer as stars. Just 60k cash and a fanatic will backslap in first round.
CR, winrecord, FF and DP account favourite Azure, bashpower and guardamount favourite Stanrichardson.
to sum up: Wiz and lots of +st on the HEteam will outplay the dwarfs.

Chaos vs Darkelves ... PeteW vs Leijonet... what a clash...
Ultimate Mr Men had some pretty bad recovery games, lost some pretty good players but they are still in a good shape. The need a decent erbuild, with TR288 with 13 players, 3 nigglers, but hell they are here to win the next major. 120k cash to rebuy some losses. A fanatic will add some "antipositional power" on the other hand it is pretty unpredictable.
Lets have a look on the Chaos team: twice tents, 3 tackle, 3 claw, 1 RSC. A chainsaw will add extra bashpower... enough to beat the DE? We will see...

The dwarfs had serious problems in the 2 last matches loosing a player both games. Still they have 3 +st players, a decent roster and are well coached. The bomber adds some fluff, but i dont expect to see him fielded, besides turn 8 as losfudder. On the other side is a pretty normal UD-team with one starmummy and expect to see the count. The Chainsaw might bring some fun for the casulties, but wont change the game. Guard lacking UD vs some good players + rookies, so some well placed boots on either side, will do the trick.
Considering CS is a well known egoshooter, we have to root for the dwarfs and fight violence *cough* .. Edit: ok the meaning is completly different, so we have to fight against violence in words!

I guess we dont have to talk about the eaters, although they have 2 missings and lost a guarder last game. They have a Fanatic, but i dont think we will see him.
The UD have 8 DPs, they might hurt the dwarfs but i guess they wont be able to handle all the guard and can't compensate the stronger dwarf players. On the other hand, they have a Bomber, which is (at least on the paper) the strongstes gobo when facing dwarfs.

Both teams are full packed with 16 players and gobo fill the last slot. Fanatic for the DE, seems pretty useless. Same goes for the Bomber for the Humans. Britnoth had some serious casluck in his qualifier, so this might go on and you are able to see a carnage.ma 10 catcher for the Humans will be a proper chance to perform a OT. On the other hand the humans arent that impressive so i go with the DE

15 dwarfs (10 guard, 11 MBs, 1 DP) + chainsaw vs 15 chaotics (3 guard, 3 claws, 3 Tents, 1 RSC, 2 DP) + fanatic. So it comes down, who got the best cas rolls. looking at the teams, it should be no promblem to cage down the field with 10 guards and lots of MB on the dwarfish side, but beware of the leaping CW. Taking into account i support Leijonet for win the GLT, i have to put my faith in him (in good faith...)

Both teams have a Bomber, but i dont think unless for last turn or lots of cas we wont see the Bomber on the orcish side, im not sure if we will see him on the norse side, SillySod might bring him to add some fluff or to use him as cage breaker. Orcs have 60k, so i dont think the will hire anything, the norse have 135k so they might hire somethink. 7 times MB should win the match for the orcs, on the other hand 4 DP for the norse could bring some havoc...

Millford reporting from the main draw and boy is this shaping up to be a great tournament to crown the champion. The top bracket looks to be the toughest and of the 8 teams in the top side it has 5 of the top coaches on that side. The bottome bracket as a lot of the first time coaches to make a major and that could set up an interesting final if one of those coaches should be able to make it all the way to the end. Altdorf is a buzz as the fans are pumped up for the start of action in the next few days. Here are the opening round pick's from the Altdorf Blood Bowl Book.
Azure Frenzy: High Elves 289/265 Coach: Azure

Saturday Morning TV: Dwarf 250/245 Coach: stanRichardson
Classic Dwarf VS Elf match in the opening round. The Frenzy bring a nice squad into this opening round and are guided by one of the top coaches in the Fumbbl ranks. They have some nice +ST upgrades to be able to counter all the guard of the dwarves. They have 3 Niggles on the team and they will be giving up 2 handicaps so the dreaded Virus is a looming threat and could make this match very difficult to impossible if it should hit. The Saturday Morning crew brings a lot of Guard, MB and Tackle to this match and if they can get their grubby hands on the necks of the elves it could get ugly fast.
In the end its the standard elf vs dwarf prediction: IF the dwarfs can get ahold of the elves they should be able to push them around and get some CAS in. IF not the elves will use their superior AG and movement to run circles around the dwarves.
I will go with coaching in this one even though I really like the TV crew.

Saturday Morning TV WIN 1-0. They out blocked the frenzy 2-1, out CAS them, out Foul them and out Luck them. But they still needed a little luck at the right time for the TV crew to advance.
Ultimate Mr. Men: Dark Elves 288/249 Coach: PeteW

Words: Chaos 291/255 Coach: Leijonet
Well the Mr. Men come into this one depleted from their last major run and they could be in trouble. They have taken on some CAS in the prep period and their firepower has been dimminished. But when you are lead by PeteW you are allways in the running. The Words come into this game ready to take their pound of flesh from the Mr. Men and do it the old fahsioned way, plant some elves into the turf. The Words have a fine balance of skills but they lack any CL\RSC players and for a high end Chaos team are under powered. When ever Elves VS Bashers take the field it is the same thing. Bash VS Ball will take center stage and you know the rest. The BIG question in this game: IF peteW does pull it out will he take 0 CAS and further his rep as the luckiest coach and just roll along like he is playing a bunch of Flings?
When its touch and go like this game I will once again lean to Coaching and AG4+
Ulitmate MR. Men Over Words 2-1
Words defeats the Mr. Men 1-0 In a classic battle. On 1/5 the wheels just flew off and the Mr. Men were left scrambling the rest of the game. The Blitz on the second half kick off sealed the deal and Words just rolls. The stats tell it all as the Mr. Men were just pulverized and pushed back on their heels. A shout out to that wizard who fried those beastmen, that was a sight to behold.
Darkhill Miners: Dwarf 226/230 Coach: Nachtogen

CS Riot Squad: Undead 233/215 Coach:Klas
Well two of the weaker teams on paper take the field in this one. The Miners have some nice +ST upgrades to handle those mummies and they are balanced, they are just not that impressive. The main thing going for them in this match is the lack of Block on most of the Riot Squad AND not giving up any handicaps. The Riot Squard will bring the Count and have to rely on him and his mummies to open some holes. Also those Zombies in the qualifier proved they can block with out the skill and they seem to have iron shod boots for the foul.
I just dont see the Riot Squad being able to handle these dwarves.

CS Riot Squad pulverizes the Miners in this one 3-2 as they rack up 10 CAS!! it was touch and go most of the game but in the end the depleted squad of dwarfs could not hold on

Competitive Eaters: Dwarf 383/287 Coach: Jack Daniels
Well when ever the eaters take the field they allmost allways give up 5 handicaps but have enough firepower to bash and smash their way through allmost any thing. Once again they will be giving up 5 handis in this game and if the handicaps dont go their way they could be in real trouble in this one. The Proud crew will bring the count and take their chances.
***UPSET SPECIAL***
The Handicaps are going to go totally wrong for the Eaters and the the Proud to be Death team is just going to lay into the eaters. The eaters are going to be pushed backed on their heels for the first time in a long time and its going to be one serious up hill climb for them. Also I feel the demise of the Beast in this game as he is left out to dry on the LOS and gets pummeled by some Zombie boots back into the void from which he came.

PROUD PULLS OFF THE UPSET!!!! they win on a coin flip 2-2. Morleys striked the Eaters right off the bat and then the REF was obvioulsy paid off or something as he just turned a blind eye to all the Prouds fouls. Jack pulled everything out of the bag to salvage the win but came up a little short on the coin flip.But considering the way the ref was completly in the tank for the Proud to Be Death is it any shock that the coin flip would go against the Eaters. I think we need to get a investigator on the tail of that Ref and see if he is even in town any more? Might have taken his winnings from the local books and left town.

This is a really even and well balanced opening round match. Both teams are really nice and it should come down to who ever makes the less mistakes or gets "unlucky" on a few dice rolls will win this one. Neither team getting any handicaps and the Hominis crew will have to decide between a wizard or Zug in this one.
Well I can make a case for both teams in this match. So I will default to my standard position and take the +AG in a close fought match.
Burn the Witch over Hominis 3-2 in OT.
Burn the Witch wins 2-1 in a very close fought match. That Turnover on 1/6 for Hominis was a killer, instead of going up 1-0 they went down 0-1 at the end of the half. It was just to much to overcome.
Fleet Foots's Revenge: Orc 302/253 Coach: Malmir

Flachpfeifens 4th Try: Skaven 237/221 Coach: p4m
Well the Fleet Foot look like they get a great draw for the opening round as they draw the rodents. BUT those gutter runners are allways a scary propostion when you dont have speed and there are 4 of them to boot. If it goes by the numbers and the BoB's can start to lay into the ratz it wont matter what the gutter runners do. The Flach will be getting 3 handicaps in this one which could really help out. And the Revenge do have some cash if they dont want to take any chances.
I think this one will go by the numbers and we will see a pile of dead ratz in the corner of the endzone by the end of this one.

Fleet Foot wins this one 2-1 in OT. The Revenge pile up the bodies in the endzone and get 10 CAS on the ratmen.Their BoB's rack up 6 CAS between them as they tear into the fury ones.

Well both of these teams are going to meet in the middle of the field and just throw down, neither one of these teams will be able to resist! It should be a blood letting of titanic proportions and who ever wins this match is going to have to scramble for the next match. The Norse are getting a handicap but they will get some ho hum handi that will not help and the Heartbreakers have no cash for anything. So will the AV7 be able to hold up? well SillySod better hope so.
For some reason Iam leaning towards the Norse in this one, I cant explain why.

SPreading Jan Far and Wide win this one 2-0 in a titanic blood fest! The teams met in the middle of the field and the Life Takers could get no traction and were just pummeled into the pitch. The Norse men got 6-1 CAS, doubled up on the Block Ratio and seriously outlucked them. The Life Takers gave as good as they got in the fouls but obviously they were not as skilled with the golden boot as the Norse men. Spreading Jan advances and took no Perm's in the process, they are still a dark horse contender

Well this should be one hell of a fight. I really like both of these teams. I see this game as rugby match as both teams lock horns in the middle of the pitch and just throw down. In the end I think the dwarfs will be able to withstand the attack from Words and be able to hold their ground.

Well we have a nice little undead contest on our hands. The mummies will be out in force so besure to bring you fly and flea repellant to the stadium. Both teams on paper do not jump our at me. So I will go with the momentum the Proud crew got in that first round game taking the Eaters to the wire. Also who is the ref again in this game? that could be a issue for the Riot Squad.

Well a classic elf vs Basher match up here. I think in this match the Greenskins of Revenge are just going to lay into the Dark Elves and lay them out. BUT in the end you never know when playing against elves. BUT I will stick to my guns and stay with the orcs in a tight match as the Witches are playing undermanned in the second half.

Fleet Foot's Revenge just pile drives Burn the Witch into the pitch and walks away with a 2-0 win. The Revenge rack up 8 CAS, Two KIA's, and just pulverize the Dark Elves.

Spreading Jan Far and Wide
Well the Space Orks walked all over the Evolution and come into this game ready to prove themselves because of how they got into the main draw. Spreading Jan looked good the first game and come in clean to this one. It should be a slug fest and once again can the Norse men apply the boot and have their AV 7 hold up?
Spreading Jan Far and Wide OVER Space Orks 2-1 BUT the norse men take a terrible beating in this one and stagger into the semi's agains a superior Fleet Foot.
Well the Orks go toe to toe with Jan and just take it to them. It was a bloody fight but in the end the Norse men could not get the rolls when they needed it most and went down fighting

Well words has been rolling along all tourney just smacking down the opponeets and taking names. The Riot squad has been toiling away under the radar and are set to advance to the finals. Both teams have some cash so it will be interesting to see if both of these teams blow all their cash in a bid to make it to the finals.
Words has taken offense at Milford's picks and seem to be feeding off them. They have a chip on their shoulder and playing the us against the world card to get the team motivated. So I will not "jinx" Words so close to the end.
CS Riot Squad OVER WORDS 2-1!!!
The Gods of Chaos are once again denied as NUFFLE once again interfers and gives the power of Godly Dice to the Riot Squad. The Words will be fighting a up hill battle against the dice all game long and in the end become another Chaos team that "allmost" made it but feel short, a rather long list of futility.

Well a greenskin SMACK down for all of us to enjoy. Fleet Foot has been rolling all tourney long. They seem to be getting stronger game by game and look to smash the Space Orks out of the way to the summit. The Space Orks are seriously out matched in this one I feel, Gork and Mork are the only thing that will save them at this point, ok Nuffle might get in a word or two.

Well the Revenge just take it to the space Orks and plant them into the pitch. BUT the Space orks went down swinging and the Revenge will have to go into the final down two guys, one a rookie lino which is no problem BUT their star thrower will be sitting on the sideline for the game. GOBO's!?! if you cant win with the roster you got you are in serious trouble if you think a low down Gobo will help you out.

In the Spirit of the GLT with all the gobo's I would urge All the dwarf teams to purchase a death roller for the extra excitment of the heavy metal of Blood Bowl to hit the pitch. |

sorry for the upset lads
but PainState was right, i got close and caused the early damage.
Azure was unluckly when i needed but showed he wa a great coach

Well I scraped through despite a heroic effort from P4M with hardly any players (one 3+ away from at least a coinflip). He definitely had some kind dice but I think I also made some poor choices and will need to coach better to stand a chance in later rounds as he really shouldn't have had a sniff of a chance towards the end. P4M definitely showed he is a top coach. |
