Postgame there's no reason not to let specs talk with players.

So while it'd be a minor feature to add, would be interesting to change spectator speech visible to players when the game ends.. This could be interesting in events where there are a lot of specs such as a major etc.

i like this. GLN could even do post match interviews, should they wish to.

Would it not devolve into bad natured internet fighting?

I've hung around watching high profile games, and it seems to me 80%+ of the chatter is stuff that the players don't want to hear ("Why didn't you do x, n00b", "Deserved fale", "This is such a picky team;I hope they lose", etc.), if they hung around to actually see some of it, it might create further bad feeling.

Or perhaps not, dunno.

Would it create fighting, of course it will, it will be hilarious. The player doesnt have to stick around if he doesnt want to though does he.

If the players only saw the spectator chat that's written only after the game has ended this shouldn't be such a problem. I think that much of the spectator chat seems rude precisely because the players can't see it.

Much easier to chat with someone this way that finding them out in Irc.

This is a double edged sword, but my curiosity wins over. Once in awhile, Specs actually say something useful in there that you could learn off of.

My vote (not that I actually have one) is yes. As stated, the chatter after would not likely be as harsh (we all know what it feels like to suffer a bad loss) and would give the opportunity fo people to applaude the winner. With this community priding itself on being supportive (even with a bit of ribbing going on) this idea can reinforce that. I imagine winning a match (hey, could happen) and getting a "well played" from a spec and remembering that sometimes your performances are watched and appreciated.

When I say "well played" to my oppo after game I really mean, you are lucky %#"%&" %"%#". But thats just me. And I do that really rarely.

Like this idea, as long as none of the 'previous chat' is shown to the players.

Also, while we're at it, spectator comments on the game reports. That would be excellent.

Like it, but wouldn't care much if it never happened.
