Yeah Jinxed, I know, but that is the point. The fumbbl-guidelines are very, very vague in some areas. Of course I cannot name a team <CENCORED> or have a thrower named <CENCORED 2>, but to some degree that goes without saying. My point is that there's too much grey-area at present. I personally feel that the system is a bit off the point when a word like 'bastard' is banned while I could make a team based on convicted pedophiles and get away with it. Many of you pointed out that you didn't recognise the names of the porn stars in the example, and I have a feeling you might not think twice about the blitzer Marc Dutroux, but some of the Belgian coaches might not "see the joke". Now, I can see that it would be very time consuming if the approvers would have to look up every single name, but I think that there should be words to express FUMBBL's official policy on stuff like that.
Now, this is just from the top of my head, mind, but I don't see the difference between a team with names containing derogatory words against blacks and one with a KKK-theme (not that I think we'll see any on FUMBBL), just because it might be easier to "hide" a theme.
Maybe I should also point out that I think you're doing a fantastic jobb, and it is not my point to criticise or belittle your effort. |

well you have a point but if you see a name u think is inapropriate fill in a support ticket and the reason ya think its inapropriate and it will be dealt with. For instance when some approver approves Ted Kaczynski in an ogre team called Long Bombers not knowing who Ted Kaczynski was. I might find that offensive since one of me relatives might be one of his victims. What I do then is I fill in a support ticket explaining my problem. And I am quite sure that the situation will be dealt with. Its very hard for us to get to the problem since we atleast I aint not allknowing, but our misstakes can be corrected quite easily thus reducing the grayzone. |

Wow, so much time and energy given to a rather boring topic *sigh* |

And yet still enough time to make a pointless comment.
@ mully:
I don't have any children, but some of my ex's do. (none mine btw - I'm just a geek with no time or talent for procreation!)
On many occasions, they have been known to come out with some bizarre and disgusting sounding comments, and/or phrases.
ALL of which have been innocent, child-like interpretations of every day events. Just remember that they don't see things like the rest of us!!
It's not the mouth it comes out of, it's the mind it goes in to.
At the same time as saying I would happily approve both teams, I still respect that if the names are not approved, then so be it. After all, it's not my site.
End of debate IMO |
