Out of Block Puns 1 - 1 Blackest Orkiest Blocklessiest

A classic battle between Chaos Dwarfs and Orks...except with no Chaos Dwarfs. The bashing went back and forth, and I scored late in the 2nd half. A bull received the handoff in the backfield at the beginning of the 2nd half and slowly the hobgoblins bashed their way through the Orks (!) at the very top of the screen, allowing the Bull to run one in. The Orks tried to run it with the thrower for a 2nd TD, but tripping GFI cost the last rr, and the thrower was left horrible exposed, praying for double skulls on the coming blitz. It was not meant to be, and he was knocked down, ending the match in a relatively bloodless match.

Snow Block 2 - 2 Blackest Orkiest Blocklessiest

An extremely tactical and slow-paced battle between the High Elves and the Orks. Despite a solid defense the Elves were easily able to slip by and score a Turn 2 touchdown, leaving the Orks 7 turns to slowly bash down the side of the field. A lucky pass to a BOB early on ended up in a touchdown on T8, and receiving the ball, the Orks were greatly confident in a victory!

The blocking simply fell apart the 2nd half, and both rerolls were burned early on. A failed pass to a lineman, and then a desperate pass to a free BOB failed miserably on the catch, and the elves were able to bash their way down the field despite my Troll's intimate presence near the ball. Leaving me only 1 turn, my plan was clear: throw that gobbo! Without using a rr the thrower got it to the gobbo, and the gobbo flew perfectly and dodged his way to a glorious (if cheesy) touchdown, tying the game. Despite setting up perfectly for a 1 turner and getting a quicksnap, my opponent tried to take the less risky pass and then do a handoff: sadly this didn't work, because otherwise the elves had an excellent shot of a 1 turner of their own.

All in all an excellent series of games, though the Orks aren't in much of a place to win at this point.

Uruk of the SkullPow 0 - 0 Fatman Strike
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&op=view&id=1608939

The inaugural game for the Uruk-hai of the Skull-Pow Clan saw them facing the mighty Ogres of Fatman Strike. As expected, the game featured a ton of bashing. But little came to show for it, as only 2 casualties were inflicted in the entire match (both by the orcs). In fact, despite the hard-fought and valiant efforts by both sides, a whole lot of nothing was the end result as neither team could break the ball free to the endzone.

Uruk of the SkullPow 2 - 0 Road (no) Blocks
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&op=view&id=1609101

The Uruk-hai came into this game with a simple and direct plan: wipe the Skaven off the field and never let them have the ball. This simple but brutal plan was executed to perfection by the Orcs, who took the opening kickoff and marched it down the left side of the field, bashing away any skaven who opposed them At the end of the half, they moved the ball in for a score, leaving 4 of their opponents in the infirmary rather than on the field. In the second half, the ball was caught by a linerat on the line of scrimmage. He attmpted to hand the ball off, but it was dropped onto the turn. The ensuing scrum saw the rats once again based flat onto their backs, with the ball knocked out of bounds. As the ball came back into play, the orcs continued to flatten the skaven, reducing them to but 3 players on the pitch. At this point the Uruks walked the ball in for a second score, thereby ending the game.

Uruk of the SkullPow 2 - 1 Coldblooded Brawlers
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&op=view&id=1609188

The Uruk-hai of Clan SkullPow welcomed the Lizardmen of Coldblooded Brawlers into the No-Block League in coach KennethCole's inaugural game. And by "welcomed", I mean "beat up". The game started with the Brawlers giving a touchback to their Kroxigor on the line of scrimmage. Unfortunately, the big guy must have gotten confused by this, as he failed his Bone-Head roll for the next tow consecutive turns. This lead to a pitched battle at the center of the field with blocks being thrown back and forth between the teams. With skinks and goblins being knocked out left and right, the Lizardmen eventually lost the ball when their Kroxigor had to take a skull-pow on a block. This was the turning point of the game, as the orcs rallied to not only score, but to remove 2 skinks and a saurus from the rest of the game via casualties.

The second half opened with the orcs losing the ball quickly. A Saurus claimed the ball and dashed towards the end zone. The less mobile Orcs turned to the old standby - they pressed their numerical advantage to continue wiping Lizardman players off the field. When the Saurus finally stepped into the end zone, the orcs took the ensuing kickoff and drove it down the field for a last-second touchdown.

Timeless Generals 3 - 0 We Block for Nobody
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1608737

The trolls were really, really stupid. Someone Special inflicted an early CAS, then sat the entire game in the KO box, while goblins where constantly be subject to 3d blocks and going down a lot. The outcome of the game was never in doubt as the goblins struggled with ball handling. Every time something seemed to go right, any hope was quickly snuffed out as a goblin would be chewing its toenail and fumble the ball.

Timeless Generals 2 - 1 Out of Block Puns
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1608897

Morley's Revenge struck hard - 3 ghouls were effected and 2 of them sat out nearly the entire game. However, it was the hobgoblins that were short players. Several badly hurt players and then a full KO box limited the ability of the hobgoblins...however, even still, it was a tight game throughout.

Timeless Generals 2 - 0 Coldblooded Brawlers
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1609224

The injuries piled up early and often against the lizards. They fought bravely, but early injuries and KOs that did not wake up caused them to be drastically undermanned and slow and steady progression allowed the Generals to score twice and then halt the skink offensive. However, the game was close throughout as the skinks were very close to stealing away the ball and their mobility made them a constant danger.

Timeless Generals 3 - 3 Road (no) Blocks
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1609244

A great struggle that showcased the bashing rats and the soft-hitting undead. Amazingly, the Generals managed to only KO one of the rats all game. Other than that, not a single other KO or CAS all game. The complete ineffectiveness of the blocking was glaringly obvious when 3 turns ended almost immediately on double skulls re-rolled into double skulls. Several of the undead were injured and the last desperation drive only 1 of 4 ghouls remained on the field...

The first half started with the Undead driving down the field, and although no one was getting KOed, quite a few rats were stunned and trapped as the ghouls carried the ball without problem along the sideline and the Generals were up 1-0. Enough time remained for the Road Blocks to drive down the field...but the defense would not break and too many skulls prevented them from breaking through. A 3d block fails to take down the gutter runner though and turn 8, there is one last chance, one gutter runner is pinned against the sideline by the mummy, but dodges through the tackle zones - passes the ball to another gutter runner, a pass blocking ghoul re-positions and the gutter runner then has to dodge three times through tackle zones (which did not matter since AG 5), and not a problem...the gutter runners score for a 1-1 tie going into halftime.

To start the second half, the Road Blocks receive the ball and a pitch invasion makes gapping holes in the defense - both mummies are stunned. By the time the mummies are awake and standing up - all the rats are past and the score is 2-1. With the ball kicked off to the Generals, they drive up the center - a handoff and risky gfi puts the ball well protected and the rats defense falters and the score is 2-2. Plenty of time remained as the rats took the ball for another drive. They move a gutter runner into scoring position, but a few opportunities are present to get a blitz in on the ball carrier - however 4 skulls to start the turn and the defense does not move...the rats score easily to go up 3-2. Three turns remain for the Timeless Generals and only one ghoul is left. Sun Tzu sets up and begins to push the ball forward. On turn 7, Sun Tzu is 7 spaces away from the endzone and protected by a guard mummy. Instead of going for the 1d block, a multilayer defense is set up. After some thought, the outcome of the game falls squarely on Sun Tzu's shoulders, making 4+, 4+, 3+ dodges, then a 1d block and a gfi later...both teams are stunned to see Sun Tzu in the endzone as the game ends in a draw.

Overall, some amazing bad luck and good luck on both sides. Well played and very enjoyable.

Timeless Generals 2 - 2 Fatman Strike
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1609829

The Fatman came to play and the pitch was soaked with blood quickly and then soaked some more. Combined the Ogres accounted for 6 CAS and both TDs...the goblin? They watched and got squished...but this game was all about the ogres!

In the first half, the Generals started with the ball and with a full 11 people on the field, they were able to drive down the field, Sun Tzu (our blitzer in lieu of having no wights) ravaged the goblin population with his tackle and frenzy. Halfway through the first half it was 1-0. Then a bad kick gave the ball to an ogre - who nevered failed a bone head - clearly he knew his job! The generals threw themselves in front of the ogre strom...and were badly hurt over and over again for their trouble. On T8, two more BH were followed by Tinitus passing the bone head roll and using a gfi to score the TD.

In the second half, the generals were sorely missing their star players - only 1 ghoul remained on the field and by the end of the second half only 6 players for the Undead team were on the pitch. The ogres scored and left 3 turns for the Undead...Fox got the kick and moved up the along the pitch. A mistake by the Ogres allowed a mummy to be free to blitz off the Orge on Fox and Fox was in scoring position. A 1d block failed to get Fox, but 2 goblins pinned Fox against the sideline...one had diving tackle, with no one able to help Fox, he did a 1d blitz and used the RR to get a push on the diving tackle goblin, then a 4+ and 3+ dodge and Fox scored on T16 to get a draw.

The Timeless Generals were excited to escape with only 1 perm. injury and a draw against a fantastically played ogre team!

Blackest Orkiest Blocklessiest 1 - 0 Invincible Slayers

The flings vs Orks - how long could they keep more than a half dozen players on the field was the question - the answer was most of the game! Driving down the side with a tree who got the bad kick touchback, he blitzed and got double skulls, allowing my thrower to steal the ball and pass it to a BOB. A drive up the the other side went entirely unopposed due to the large number of CAS and KOs, bringing me to 1-0 and receiving the ball for the next half.

After making a really stupid block on the tree and getting a skull, the flings penetrated my defenses. After barely recovering the ball, a BOB not surprisingly failed to catch a pass, and again the flings stole it. There was no stopping the little guy - until Nuffle intervened directly, rolling Snake Eyes GFI, allowing me to throw the ball all the way down the field and into the waiting arms of a BOB only 6 spaces away from a TD! On the final turn he made his first GFI but failed the final one, and since I had no rerolls all game, thus was the end of my glorious catching BOB's play.

A great game that could have ended up as a tie easily and almost became a last second 2-0 win too. Thanks for the game nature_warden

Coldblooded Bawlers 2-1 Road(no)blocks
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1610489

After a "Cold" start the Lizards are starting to get "Warmed" up. A few early stuns woke up the rest on the team who went about taking out the rats one by one. The death of one rat just fueled their bloodlust. From that point on there just wasn't enough rats for the coach to stop the lizards. Though a word of caution must be said even undermaned (or is that under"rat"ed) those rats still got throu for a quick score off a loose ball.

Timeless Generals 2 - 1 Evil Doctors of Gloom
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1611415

The three trolls - including the massive Bolgart - inflicted constant damage on the Timeless Generals. The KO box was nearly full. The game was tit for tat for a while. The first half was back and forth and ended tied 1 - 1. In the second half, the Generals scored and then it was up the goblins to come back...unfortunately on the fateful turn both the trolls failed their really stupid rolls and it left the one troll (whom was carrying the ball) easy prey and the ball was knocked lose and grabbed by a ghoul. A disconnect and problem with the save file meant that the Generals did not score...but neither did the goblins and the 2-1 victory was preserved. The last few turns ended with several CAS on both sides, Custer, a skeleton was killed, but regenerated.

Overall, well played, the three trolls were a very formiddable adversary.

Timeless Generals 4 - 3 nbUlTHUAN
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1611531

A bloodly battle on the pitch. The Elves took the ball first and came with a good offense, but Sun Tzu send one of their catchers into the stands for a serious injury. Short handed they still scored to take the lead 1 - 0. The Timeless Generals struck back quickly to tie it at 1 - 1. However, it took only a few moment for the Elves to come right back and take the lead 2 - 1. However, the fans got the ref and the undead dirty player started to foul - causing 2 badly hurt and several stuns and KOs. At the end of the first half, a desperate play allowed the generals to tie it 2 - 2 going into the second half.

The second half was another back and forth fight. The opening kickoff was fumbled...but a blitz from Sun Tzu (who was a bone-head due to handicap this game) knocked the ball free. A mistake on a block opened the way and Sun Tzu scored to give the undead the lead at 3 - 2. The Elves were not done and drove down the field. However, Napoleon Bonaparte, a mummy made a 5 space blitz to seriously injury an elf and the ball was loose. The undead coach was feeling bad for the havoc wrought on the elves and did not crowd surf Gretsky whom was standing in the endzone...a bad idea as some great dodging and picking up in tackle zone and long pass resulted in the hat trick for Gretsky...score tied 3 - 3 with 2 turns left. The Undead pushed forward as fast as they could with Fox holding the ball - somewhat protected...but not enough and a blitz got a bothdown and killed Fox. No RR left and not much chance of scoring...and last turn...but all eyes were on Sun Tzu - the star of the team. Sun Tzu made two dodges and a gfi to get to the endzone. Then a 3d blitz from a mummy to free up the ball and Stonewall Jackson cruised in to pick up the ball and threw a perfect pass to Sun Tzu in the endzone whom caught it for the winning TD on the General's last turn yet again.

As a side note, Custer the skeleton was a CAS twice this game, making him a subject of a CAS three times in two games...lucky he is good at regenerating! On the flipside, the mummy that leveled aged a niggle and was immediately retired. He was replaced, but not enough money to replace Fox, so going with 3 ghouls for the next match! Thanks for a very exciting and well-played game.

Another horrible game for 'Out of Block Puns'.

The team troll was as stupid as ever, apearently he takes after his coach, who made mistake after mistake during the game, the result was inevitably thereafter:

Uruk of the SkullPow 1 - 3 Snow Block
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&op=view&id=1612606
Nothing went right in this game for the Uruk. Turnovers on early blocks let teh elves dodge through for the ball, and pretty soon it was 3-0. The orcs did manage to hold onto the ball for a TD in the second half... Meanwhile out of dozens of dodges, the elves only tripped once - when they declined to use a RR, the dodge was that unimportant.

Uruk of the SkullPow 0 - 0 Blackest Orkesiest Blocklessiest
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&op=view&id=1613340
I'm not sure this game was actually played... For the entire 32 turns, absolutely nothing happened. Both of the only 2 CAS in the game were Apo'ed. No TDs. Just lots of... nothing.

Uruk of the SkullPow 2 - 0 Bob's Carnival
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&op=view&id=1613912
After a couple tough games, the Uruk took advantage of the understrength (9 player) Ogre squad to get back on track. Bashing, smashing, and fouling their way to the endzone, the orcs held the ball for most of the game. The highlight of the game came when black orc Mauhur blitzed and killed Bob's Carnival goblin 'Long Job' on the opening kick, and then seconds later took a tactical both-down to kill Carnival goblin Token - racking up a pair of kills before Turn 2 of the half!

nbUlTHUAN(Elf) 1 - 2 Tight Pack
The Elves scored fast, after which half of their team was sent into the KO box due to constant AV breaks in the offensive setup. The kickoff table was greatly in our favor, giving us one perfect defense and two quick snaps.

NBL lizards (Lizardmen) 0 - 2 Tight Pack
The Saurii hit us hard and found plenty of POWs but there weren't enough skinks to handle the ball. We took a slight beating (surprisingly no CAS suffered due to poor av/inj rolls, though) but made all the goals.

Out of Block Puns (Chaos Dwarf) 0 - 2 Tight Pack
Key Hobgoblins (Tackler and Sure Hands guy) were ferociously targeted by the amazons. In the end, this paid off game-wise giving us a player advantage but caused long-term problems for the opposing team. This is a pity, for I hope the Chaos Dwarves would win their future games against the current tournament leaders. The opposing troll was possibly the most stupid one I've ever seen!

Timeless Generals 2- 0 Bob's Carnival
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&op=view&id=1613614

A fun and competitive match. The Timeless Generals took the opening kickoff in for the early 1-0 lead...then late in the first half, there was an opportunity to score again, but they came up short.

The second half was a different story. Only down by 1 TD and receiving the kick, the ball went to an orge on the touchback and the undead struggled to hold off the ogre - finally a mummy managed to drop the ball carrying ogre - only to have another ogre pick up the ball and try to get the score. A 1d block from a ghoul dropped the ogre and the throw in was to the middle of the pitch...a ghoul picked up the ball...survived a blitz and managed to dodge in for the score.

Thanks for the game.

Timeless Generals 1 - 0 Tight Pack
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1616942

An exciting match pitting two undefeated teams against one another and the game lived up to the hype. The Timeless Generals received the first half kick and slowly worked up the field. The multiple tackle and guards on the amazons allowed them to constantly get good hits on the ghouls - but the armor was solid today. A last ditch blitz took down Douglas MacArthur, but the ball bounced to a skeleton, who then scored to end the first half. The amazons killed a skelly (regened), and the undead KOed 5 of the amazons during the first half.

The second half had the ball land on the LOS and the amazons took it and advanced. The Generals did their best to slow them down, but the girls were dodging well...finally they had the chance to score, but used up the team RR on a gfi to blitz off the ghoul marking the ball carrier...then the ball carrier needed 2 gfi to score...and tripped crosing the goal line. A ghoul grabbed the ball and attempted to keep the girls at bay...a mistake kept the ghoul in range and then a good move by Tight Pack got a 2d blitz on the ball carrier and the ghoul was knocked down. The ball landed next to 3 undead though and the amazons could not pick it up. Time running out, Sun Tzu blitzed the only amazon that was a threat and picked up the ball and raced downfield for a TD and needed 1 gfi to be out of harms way...snake eyes dropped Sun Tzu and gave a very faint glimmer of hope to the amazons...but this time their dodging was not up to the task - tired and weary from a tough hard fought match. Thus the game ended - in a very hard fought 1-0 victory for the Generals, handing the Tight Pack their first loss of the tournament.

As a note, the 4 fouls during the game were some of the most ineffective ever. All 4 were from dirty players, 2 failed to break AV 7 and the other 2 simply stunned. The only 2 CAS came from blocks and both were RIPs, but prevented by regen and apothecary.

An excellent game, very fun and enjoyable.

Uruk of SkullPow 2 - 1 Timeless Generals
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1617121

A difficult match for the Timeless Generals. Obviously they were unprepared for the match. The Generals received the opening kickoff, but before they could even move, the orcs blitzed forward. Then in an attempt to control the damage, the first action by the generals was a snake eyes on a gfi and it was over to the orcs again. The star ghoul was crowd pushed and the orcs moved forward. The rest of the first half was brutal, with two important players KOed (they stayed out until T16) and then Julius Caeser - the only experienced mummy was killed. With only a few players left, the generals still managed to knock the ball loose on an amazing play, the orcs had no RR and needed a pick up with a sure handed thrower and 2 gfi...then made it and it was 1-0 at halftime.

The second half had the orcs receiving and an oversight left a gap protecting the ball carrier who was taken down by some ghouls - the orcs tried to recover, but ultimately a dodge and pickup and a gfi and the score was tied 1-1. However, there was lots of time left and the orcs did not make any more mistakes. Slowly and steadly they crept down the field...the undead players were ordered to do more and more dangerous attempts to slow down the ball carrier - but each one failed and ultimately the orcs scored to go up 2-1. A quick snap and some chain pushes were organized to set up the MV 8 ghoul, but 2 of 4 gfis failed as the slow footed skelly and zombies were moving around and the last (very) dim hope was exhausted.

Well played match! The Uruks of SkullPow gain the honor to be the first to hand the Timeless Generals a defeat after 9 games without losing.

Great game - look forward to a rematch sometime Smile

Much time has passed since I last did a match report for my Orcs...partially out of laziness, partially out of their poor performance. Reminds me why I hate playing the slow bashy march down the field sometimes....

Coldblooded Bawlers 2 - 2 Blackest Orkiest Blocklessiest

This battle could have gone either way...if the Orcs weren't so dang slow. Hey at least it wasn't another 0-0 tie (see match with Uruk of the SkullPow)

Road (no) Blocks 1 - 2 Blackest Orkiest Blocklessiest

Stereotypical Orc vs. Skaven match - Skaven score in 2 turns, Orcs hold the ball the rest of the game. After smashing my opponent down (bh his ogre, killed his freebooted lineman, killed another lineman) the rats retreated in the corner. As I found out, nothing is more vicious than a rat stuck in a corner though. As I moved towards making a TD, a few brave Orcs decided to attack the cowardly Skaven. A goblin was SI, but since it was the end of the game I figured I could waste the APO - too bad he got niggled (his 2nd) next turn and a Black Orc also took an SI. Exciting finish to an otherwise typical grind.

We block for Nobody! 0 - 0 Blackest Orkiest Blocklessiest

We truely stole this match and were quite happy that it was a tie. After getting the ball the first half, the Orcs were stopped midfield and Nobbla hacked them apart. A desperate blitz by my lone goblin knocked down the ball carrier 2 squares away from getting a TD. No one could knock down my brave green friend, and he ran up and handed it to the thrower, who passed it to a BOB, who ran down for a touchdown...and tripped. 2nd half was very back and forth with only a few Orcs left but no Nobbla; on Catandy's last turn his goblin fell GFI due to snake eyes, and the match ended in an extremely lucky (for me) draw.

nbUlTHUAN 1 - 0 Blackest Orkiest Blocklessiest

A quick elf touchdown and a lot of sloppy playing by the Orcs meant that they couldn't score when they received in the 2nd half. Of course it didn't help that the elves inflicted 6 casualties on my guys without throwing a single foul... Nice win PigeonSmythe!

The tourney is clearly over for these slow buggers, but they will still be accepting matches until it's officially over
