Does anyone know if there's a thread (like there has been for past tournaments) predicting the winners among the Ulthuan Invitational Qualifiers? Or is that just for the UI itself?

EDIT: Per request, we'll compile predictions here up top. Credit will be given to those compiling them. Either post here or pm them to me and we'll get it going.

UI V Qualifier: Light Lantern

Forest Trudy Trees vs. Kelly's Heroes!!!
Forest Trudy Trees seems to be a standard wood elf team - nothing exceptional, and of particular note there is no dirty player on the team. On the other side, we have a fairly well-developed human team with multiple dirty players to complement the squad. With this in mind, the edge seems clear.

Prediction - Kelly's Heroes!!! 2 : Forest Trudy Trees 1

Mit Bart und Faust vs. Dirtiest Dorfs Ever
Mit Bart and Faust is the better team on paper - more highly developed skills and players designed with particular purposes in mind. Something tells me not to pick against Spoony though - he has a serious edge in terms of dirty players available and Mit Bart und Faust has a glaring weakness in that their only runner is out for the match.

Prediction - Mit Bart und Faust 0 : Dirtiest Dorfs Ever 1

TheTortureNeverStops vs. Alternative Comedians

Woodland Gods vs. Ravens All-Stars

Well, ok, not even looked, but I'll do that one if you like. Edit to follow. Wink

*****

<b>UI V Qualifier: Amber Lantern </b>

<b>Round 1</b>

Onkelth Visitors of Hulen <img src=http://fumbbl.com/files/images/lizardmen.png> 224 / 212 <b>V</b> 240 / 230 <img src=http://fumbbl.com/files/images/dwarf.png> Zwerghasen Blutwurst

At this TR, generally speaking you'd be expecting Lizzies to beat Dorfs. The Dorfs have a poor record and the Lizzies the favoured coach from a CR point of view, but in this case my confidence for a cold-blooded win is tempered by the lack of a Wizzie, a couple of rookie Saurus players, and the bank balance of the Dorfs. Perhaps the tightest round 1 game to call in this qualifier then;

<b>Purp's Probably Pants Prediction :</b> 1-0 Lizzies, but taking too many CAS to progress too far.

Lomack Ground and Iron <img src=http://fumbbl.com/files/images/dwarf.png> 222 / 217 <b>V</b> 297 / 250 <img src=http://fumbbl.com/files/images/woodelf.png> Myranor Wanderers Oventa

This is a bit more interesting than normally I'd think it would be. Usually I'd waste no time in predicting an easy WE win, but Oventa is giving up handicaps and carries niggles. The Dorfs, however, have cash to burn. I can forsee a bad run of caps and a LOS really testing the Woodies here, far more than usual. However, 3 of 4 times this fixture is played, they advance.

<b>Purp's Probably Pants Prediction :</b> 2-1 Woodies.

Actual result: 0-1 It was the 1/4. Niggle fails, handicaps, KOs and an apparent second half bug culminated in Dorf progression, with a borked replay I can only draw on my first 4 turns of watching memory and the match report, wasn't Oventa's day.

Emphasy Scandinavian Gourmet Catering <img src=http://fumbbl.com/files/images/human.png> 251 / 233 <b>V</b> 233 / 269 <img src=http://fumbbl.com/files/images/dwarf.png> dwarf attitude krokrok

<b>Purp's Probably Pants Prediction :</b> All over already, 2-1 Dorfs.

rostern Left Right <img src=http://fumbbl.com/files/images/woodelf.png> 267 / 256 <b>V</b> 221 / 200 <img src=http://fumbbl.com/files/images/dwarf.png> Beer in the Beard spelledaren

<b>Purp's Probably Pants Prediction :</b> All over already, 2-0 WE.

<b>Round 2</b>

Lomack Ground and Iron <img src=http://fumbbl.com/files/images/dwarf.png> 218 / 189 <b>V</b> ?

rostern Left Right <img src=http://fumbbl.com/files/images/woodelf.png> 271 / 244 <b>V</b> 226 / 235 <img src=http://fumbbl.com/files/images/dwarf.png> dwarf attitude krokrok

I have a hard time seeing anything other than a WE win here. With a Wizzie, against Dorfs, better record... I think it will take dice or a screw up for Rostern not to win.

<b>Purp's Probably Pants Prediction :</b> 2-0 Woodies, and into the final!

Actual result: 1-0. Rostern through with a few CAS. Has significant funds, and importantly the other WE are out, making him favourite whomever comes through the other half of the draw.

<b>Final</b>

rostern Left Right <img src=http://fumbbl.com/files/images/woodelf.png> 266 / 211 <b>V</b> ?

Whichever WE team takes least CAS wins, imo. Wink

(And no; I've not suddenly gone all soft on Majors, I just was at a loose end for half an hour. Wink)

I'd appreciate comments for Obsidian Lantern - Dark! There's about 64 DPs in the qualifying division (mild exaggeration)... The orc teams (including mine) are looking like soft picks. Cool

Hmm... Amber Latern looks like a woodie final - Myranors Wanderers vs Left Right. Unless one of the Dorfs hits the motherlode of cas dice.

Thanks Purplegoo Smile

EDIT:

... but your prediction was pants for my game Wink

You too Circular Logic!
And it wasn't a motherload of cas dice either Smile (though quite a few KOs admittedly). Got out-cased and lost a FF even Smile

I would appreciate some predictions for the Steel lantern.

My gut feeling sees the whitekillers or the superrats as the favorite for the overall win.

The Whitekillers first match against the Blood Red Dragons certainly looks doable, the Dragons only have one DP, together with only one +AG and a Rookie thrower, stopping them from scoring should be a distinct possibility.
No Sidestep on either Witch Elf should allow the Whitekillers to control the sidelanes too.
I would predict a 2:1 for the Whitekillers.

PHD vs. Kaulinai

This may easily be the most dice reliant game of the qualifier. Ogre vs. Khemris has a theoretical advantadge for the Ogres, since Khemri often strugle if they have a Strength disadvantadge, but a lot will depend on how nasty the Kaulinais 5 Dirty players will be.
Thing could easily go into overtime, where my lack of rerolls may do me in.
I am inclined to assume a 2:1 for Kaulinai in overtime.
Of course, I have 3 AG3 Ogres and a MV7 Gobbo, so OTTs can always happen:D

Das Glockenspiel vs BCN friends

I predict a 2:1 for the Dark Elfs, Glockenspiel has only one exceptional player, and I think the DEs have the tools to take him out. That the DE have the money for a Wiz should help too.

Super Rats vs. Fleetfoots Revenge,

A hard to predict thing, with huge bankrolls on both sides. The Orcs seem to lack Block Tackle Mighty Blow guys, which may prove fatal.
Especially against the abonimation of an AG6 Gutter Runner, backed up by MV10 very long legs one is.
3:1 for the Super Rats.

My humble thoughts,

Cheers,

hehe, turns out I was correct for PHD vs. Kaulinai, although the Khemries didnt need the overtime.
2 very nice moves by Melissa and me understimating the speed of Khemri (or overestimating my speed, my usual race is Lizards) won the game for them.

UI V Qualifier: Golden Lantern

Well this qualifier is all about the classic light matchup of Dwarf vs Wood elf. Which will prevail? The elven speed and agility or the dwarf bashing power! Expect to see alot of beaten up elf teams scraping through the first round and could make for either some interesting, or completely unbalanced, 2nd round games

Round 1

Extinguishers Image 243 / 214 V 247 / 225 Image Stammtisch Zurich

Niggled wood elves vs very strong looking dorfs. despite woodies having wiz cash i don't think they will have enough playing to survive this one.

Prediction: 2-1 Dorfs

Matez0rs Image 290 / 256 V 265 / 238 Image Dandelion Eaters

A repeat of the GLT final! With the woodies having wizard cash and a one turner i think the dwarves will struggle here unless they get alot of early cas. I think the woodies will egde this one but could be in bad shape for their next round!

Prediction: 2-1 Woodies

Woodies at Trieout Image 305 / 272 V 216 / 215 Image All Diamonds

Another dorf vs wood elf affair. However this one is a relatively small dwarf team vs an Uber picky elfballing team, who have only played 1 dwarf team in thier 209 game history! This should be a walkover for the elves but lets hope they take some cas along the way.

Prediction: 3-0 Woodies

PleaseDontHurtUs2Bad Image 234 / 233 V 222 / 201 ImageJust J

This one could go either way and i predict a high scoring elfy type game. I think the woodies should be able to survive longer but anything could happen in this game!

Prediction: 4-2 Woodies

The bright latern proudly announces, that they are the first light qualifier that is dwarf-free. Praises go to alibaba and his orco-phobe humans, that kicked out the competitive eaters.

UI V Qualifier: Jade Lantern

Seeing as everyone else is doing one, I thought I'd try and noob one up...

Round 1:
Reptile Revolution vs Freedown.Flames
Much as I want to predict this as a glorious 2-1 victory for the lizards, I wouldn't want to try to pull the wool over our observant readers' eyes, so will have to admit that this game's already been played by the time that I come to write these predictions. However, with a st4 skink, and a st6, block, pro Krox, I won't be betting against them in a hurry!

Vaevictis Asmadi vs World Serpent Eaters
A pretty standard dorf team apart from their Super Runner, the st4 ag5 beast should be enough to take them through, with their traditional phalanx of MB/Guard longbeards. The Humans also have a nice with a fair amount of money, a few ag4 and some nice doubles, and are easily capable of causing an upset here. A few blodgers which will be of little use in this match, so I'm going to go for a Dwarf victory, 2-1.

Amazing Amazon! vs Kokiri Forest
The zons look nice in this matchup, a nice st4 MB/tackle etc blitzer, and plenty of blodge and tackle. A lot of pass block and agility should force the woodies away from a passing game, but the safe throw woodie thrower may have other things to say... The woodies have a strip ball wardancer, while the zons have no sure hands, and they also have a nice blodge tree. The other huge advantage for the woodies is their natural movement. Not an easy match to call, I think it could well go either way. That said, I'll go for a 3-2 victory for the woodies.

Dooms Day Destroyers vs Monkey Island SwashBucklers
2 nice teams here, the dorfs will possibly suffer from a lack of skills on their longbeards (none have MB, only about half are guarders) and the niggles on both runners could bite them. Both teams have plenty of cash, so expect to see a fair few stars in this game, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a wizard in the mix as well. I think the far superior starts available to the humans will sway this one, and the lack of a hard phalanx of longbeards can only help. I'll go with the humans, winning it 2-1.

Here's a pretty picture for you to enjoy while I predict the rest of the qualifier:
<img src="http://sprott.physics.wisc.edu/fractals/carlson/pretty.gif" width="350">

Round 2:

Reptile Revolution vs World Serpent Eaters
This will be a tough game for the lizards. The strong longbeards should be able to hold the saurii, and the skinks will struggle to get away to the endzone, and on defence the picture looks even worse. I'll predict a traditional 2-1 bashy win for the dorfs. The SF/frenzy saurus might smash a few holes, but I would expect frenzy and no-block to get him into too many problems.

Kokiri Forest vs Monkey Island SwashBucklers
The woodies will probably be nursing a few wounds from their first round match against the tackle filled zons, and with the humans having so much money and a few MB/tackle blitzers should be enough to take out a few key players. Humans should win again, going for 3-1 this time.

Round 3 (THE FINAL):

World Serpent Eaters vs Monkey Island SwashBucklers
Dorfs against Humans in the final. I would expect the Humans to have a lot of cash left in the bank, and will be able to get some more stars and wizzie, enough to tip the balance against the dorfs. I'll go for a final win for the humans, 2-1 again.
