Take Root (Extraordinary)
Immediately after declaring an Action with this player, roll a D6. On a 2 or
more, the player may take his Action as normal. On a 1, the player “takes
root”, and his MA is considered 0 until a drive ends, or he is Knocked
Down or Placed Prone (and no, players from his own team may not try
and block him in order to try to knock him down!). A player that has taken
root may not Go For It, be pushed back for any reason, or use any skill
that would allow him to move out of his current square or be Placed
Prone. The player may block adjacent players without following-up as
part of a Block Action however if a player fails his Take Root roll as part
of a Blitz Action he may not block that turn (he can still roll to stand up if
he is Prone).

Since a player that has taken root may not use any skill that would allow him to be Placed Prone. The player in question would not be allowed to use "Wrestle" "Piling On" or "Diving Tackle" right?

I raise the question mainly because i want to test it in the new client. I just need a verdict on the ruling.

Let me hear some opinions. Smile

Yup, I think the rules are pretty clear on that part.

I dont see why he couldnt use the 'wrestle' since he has already thrown block dice at that point and has a both down result. If he doesn't have block he will either be 1. going down or 2. going down wrestling

The fluff for piling on says
<quote>The Piling On player is Placed Prone in his own square -- it is assumed that he rolls back there after flattening his opponent</quote>
so he had to 1 follow up which he is not allowed to do or crushed the guy in his square (still showing some movement)

Diving Tackle on a tree!
again the 'fluff' i would imagine you have to be able to move to diving tackle.

But to me the wrestle result is closer to a both down on the block dice without any chance of injury which is something he is allowed to do if he doesnt have the wrestle skill

Kalimar asked about the order of take root and stand up. I raised the question in that thread. Made a new thread to hopefully get some facts on the table Razz

Rules explicitly say you can't use any skill that causes you to go prone while rooted (i.e. wrestle, DT, PO). I assume you would just be knocked down with no option to use wrestle.

Don't see the confusion here.

Wrestle isn't going to be a common skill on a tree though. Not using block to uproot yourself more likely to be an issue.
