Inspired by this thread.
Would anyone like to list things on FUMBBL that they feel could be offensive to someone. I'll start with a couple of the top of my head:
Dwarf / Dwarves, often used as an insult toward short people.
Brutality, (I hope wreckage doesn't mind me quoting this hear, but I couldn't put this any better myself)

In Bloodbowl we talk about violence and killing people and beating the crap out of each other.Yet all we do is just sitting there and rolling dice and putting miniatures in little boxes. Is killing each other, kicking and throwing people somehow more acceptable in terms of language use in an abstract way? Does it imply that murder isn't such a horrible thing in real life? ..Or that playing a sportsgame where you kill each other off is somehow ok? There are probably many people who would say by playing such a game every single one of us is already crossing a border. To make a random example: My countries highest court decided quite a while ago that dwarf-throwing is something utterly inhuman and violates the dignity of a human in it's innerst core. Therefore it is forbidden. Yet in bloodbowl we consider it good entertainment.
And finally I'd like to ask: Is it only ok to play such a game as long as we hold a nice blockade in our brains towards these horrible thoughts we exercise or is it somehow also ok to speak it out from time to time that what happens on the field is in fact not always a shiney good hearted fairy-tale? |
