NWFL Insider - WEEK 1

Preseason is finished - and the season is in full gear! An interesting start with some early upsets and key early games.

Toughest division: Division 1 certainly seems like it is going to be a tough division with the top 3 teams all collecting wins - that is going to be a real dogfight all season. Expectations are that Division 1 is going to own the head to head competition with Division 4 - all first round games were 2-0 victories. Green Back Smackers do look tough though - perhaps they will rise out of Division 4.

Biggest upset: While #4 seeded Korsairs lost - it was to the #1 team - so no shame in that loss. It would be the #7 DominatriX who admitted that they looked past their opponent and got caught with their pants down...a real tough blow losing to a cellar dweller team - and DominatrixX needs to turn it around fast as most people had that as a W in their column already!

Spotlight on the Stunties: St. Louis Yams pulled off the upset - although the DominatriX coach freely admits he was farming experience and not taking the Yams seriously - even with that it took some great plays to pull off the last second touchdown for the win. As for the New Gankland Cheatroits - they came in with high hopes after the preseason - but ran into a buzzsaw...the elite of the league have no problem with the stunties as Green Bay just slaughtered them - seriously injuring a troll, killing a goblin and dominating the goblins for an easy 2-0 win.

Spotlight on Week 2 games: Two games pop out - Smurfs vs Mutants is a key game between the top two teams of division 3...Mutants already have a draw...a loss here in week 2 would dig themselves a steep climb - not a good way to start the season. The other game of interest is DominatrixX rebounding against Magic Mountain Missiles. DominatrixX is aiming for a wildcard at a minimum and need to knocked down the Missiles - however the high elves are growing in confidence and if they upset the amazons - it could be dire for the girls.

A list of divisions and records after 1 game. Cya next week!

Division 1:
1/0/0 - #1 Bouncin'more Batrachians (Sigmar1)
1/0/0 - #8 Whoseton Soilers (FreeRange)

0/0/1 - #16 Jersey Landfill Giants (Crimsonwolf)

Division 4:
0/0/1 - #4 Har Ganeth Korsairs (ryanfitz)
1/0/0 - #5 Green Back Smackers (fangbanger)
0/0/1 - #12 New Gankland Cheatriots (maysrill)
0/0/1 - #13 Nocturne Falls Honey Badgers (Coach_Burgnutz)

Division 2:

Division 3:

NWFL Insider - WEEK 2

Week 2 is finished and several things jump out after looking at the standing - nearly everyone has hope! Now we say *nearly* everyone 1 team still has 0 points after 2 games. However, only 2 teams have won both games so far - so seems we may have many closely fought divisions.

Top teams going down: The top 4 seeded teams fought hard in preseason and the thought was they would quickly establish themselves as the teams to beat in each division - not so far! Top seeded Bouncin'more Batrachians came up completely empty - losing to the lowly goblins. Second seeded Celtic Bostons suffered a humiliating draw with the 15th seeded team...dropping them to 0/2/0 on the season - they will need to rebound quickly. 3rd seed Smurfs dropped a very tight game to the 6th seeded team. Fourth seeded Har Ganeth Korsairs drew against Green Bay. This dropped the Korsairs to a desperate 0/1/1 on the season - while the top 3 seeds each are sitting on 2 points. Well, if the top 4 teams are all struggling...who is rising up?

Team to watch:Whoseton Soilers are currently 2/0/0 having displayed a shutdown defense - these wood elves are just filthy good when the opponent has the ball! Yet to give up a TD, their secret? The same as many Wood Elf teams - awesome wardancers...in this case a ST 4 wardancer and his sidekick with stripball. Watch out folks - these guys are looking like early favorites!

Hard to be a fan of: Jersey Landfill Giants - ouch. After missing the preseason due to issues with construction permits for the new stadium over the former landfills (something about the smells) - now they get brutalized in their first two games...to make matters worse - they have the top team from the preseason and the current hottest team in their division. Fans were already needing nose plugs for the home games...now they are going to need to have paperbags over their heads as well. We tip our caps to the dedicated fans of Jersey and wish the best of luck to them this season - they will need it!

Cross Divisional Game Update:
Division I vs Division IV: (2/0/2)
Division II vs Division III: (0/2/2)
So far, division I and division II have traded punches - 4 games, resulting in 2 wins for each division. However, so far we are seeing a mismatch between division II and III - with division III winning 2 and drawing 2 others. In fact division II is really struggling for respectability here. The only win so far is DominatriX rebounding from their week 1 defeat to take down the Magic Missile Mountains.

Looking ahead: Who will make a run? A lot of the teams coming out of the preseason poorly have started to turn it on. The goblins and underworld have not been doormats so far - but have each had an upset victory...will the Soilers continue to win? Or will they fall back to the pack? We expect a bit more separation to appear as the elite teams start to break free of a bad game here and there and show their ability!

That is it for week 2! Next week we will start our special section highlighting the star players of the league! Cya next week!

Division 1:
1/0/1 - #1 Bouncin'more Batrachians (Sigmar1)
2/0/0 - #8 Whoseton Soilers (FreeRange)
1/0/1 - #9 Foulingham Fearless Fowl (SirOrange)
0/0/2 - #16 Jersey Landfill Giants (Crimsonwolf)

Division 4:
0/1/1 - #4 Har Ganeth Korsairs (ryanfitz)
1/1/0 - #5 Green Back Smackers (fangbanger)
1/0/1 - #12 New Gankland Cheatriots (maysrill)
1/0/1 - #13 Nocturne Falls Honey Badgers (Coach_Burgnutz)

Division 2:
0/2/0 - #2 Celtic Bostons (Sutherlands)
1/0/1 - #7 Mordheim's DominatriX (Xxirr)
0/1/1 - #10 Magic Mountain Missiles (eight_five_nine)
0/1/1 - #15 Outdianapolis Geldings (rllesh)

Division 3:
1/0/1 - #3 Snarkville Smurfs (Iskabis)
1/1/0 - #6 Skavenblight Mutants (Stinkytroll)
0/1/1 - #11 Slum City Underbellies (lordchaos)
2/0/0 - #14 St. Louis Yams (Azure)

NWFL Insider - WEEK 3

Week 3 is finally finished and it took a while due to some cowardly goblins...giving stunty a bad name! They ran in fear from some wood elves! ARGH! All stunties mourn this day! They allow the Wood Elves to continue to hold a perfect record as well due to their cowardly actions.

Theme of the Week: Taking care of business! Several of the top teams that had struggled dispatched inferior opponents in week 3 to get back on track and restore some order.

Not a Game for Girls! Rumors are circulating that Mordheim's DominatriX will be disbanding! As soon as the news broke - the St. Louis Yams took credit for the downward spiral of the DominatriX - they had a solid preseason - but after losing to the Yams: they began to struggle and they could see the writing on the wall. So the Dominated are taking their dolls and heading out. See ya!

Focus on Division I:
3/0/0 - #8 Whoseton Soilers (FreeRange)
2/0/1 - #9 Foulingham Fearless Fowl (SirOrange)
1/0/2 - #1 Bouncin'more Batrachians (Sigmar1)
0/0/3 - #16 Jersey Landfill Giants (Crimsonwolf)
Clearly the story here are the struggles of the preseason #1 team. A lot was expected of this strong Slann team. With the Landfill in their division (and they are expected to take a while to get their feet under them) - the Slann are already 2 games behind the wood elves. However, based on their preseason, we would not count out the Bouncing Ones from still making a run at the wildcard.

Focus on Division II:
1/2/0 - #2 Celtic Bostons (Sutherlands)
1/0/2 - #7 Mordheim's DominatriX (Xxirr)
0/2/1 - #15 Outdianapolis Geldings (rllesh)
0/1/2 - #10 Magic Mountain Missiles (eight_five_nine)
Ouch. Celtic Bostons are the only ones holding the flag here. And their only win against the worst team in the other division. However, have to respect 3 games and no losses. They are solid - but with the DominatriX leaving the league...the bottom of the division looks weak. The early odds are that Bostons will cruise in division II.

Focus on Division III:
2/1/0 - #6 Skavenblight Mutants (Stinkytroll)
2/0/1 - #3 Snarkville Smurfs (Iskabis)
2/0/1 - #14 St. Louis Yams (Azure)
0/2/1 - #11 Slum City Underbellies (lordchaos)
Taking advantage of the cross divisional games to set up some impressive looking records. The Mutants and Smurfs are likely to be fighting it out all season long here for the division title. Slum City and St. Louis have it tough with 2 top programs - but they will likely be able to play some spoiler.

Focus on Division IV:
2/0/1 - #13 Nocturne Falls Honey Badgers (Coach_Burgnutz)
1/1/1 - #4 Har Ganeth Korsairs (ryanfitz)
1/1/1 - #5 Green Back Smackers (fangbanger)
1/0/2 - #12 New Gankland Cheatriots (maysrill)
Welcome to the top! The sneaky Coach_Burgnutz played down in the preseason - but now is romping! The lowest preseason ranked team to seize the top spot! It was clear from the preseason that he had the talent on the field and now it is coming together. Perhaps the most even of the divisions - the goblins were 1/0/1 before the forfeit loss - the Korsairs and Smackers are both quality teams that will not fade away - this one is going to be fun to watch!

Who is a Star? The race for league MVP:
There are several early favorites for league MVP - we highlight some of the players with great potential...who will actually rise up? Hard to tell. Here is the short list:
1.War'in Moon - ST 4 wardancer leads Whoseton Soilers to an undefeated record
2.Teejay Hushyomutha - ST 3 Slann Catcher had an impressive preseason and hopes to lead Bouncin'more Batrachians to the top.
3.Rob Gronk - ST 3 AG 4 goblin - a true freak of nature that makes any opponent concerned about this monster. However, his coach and the rest of his team need to show up and actually play games!

Cross Divisional Game Update:
Division I vs Division IV: (3/0/3)
Division II vs Division III: (1/3/4)
- Division I and IV are holding even so far - but still a lot of cross-divisional games to play, as the slate has been more games within the division so far compared to the other two divisions.
- Division II continued to struggle - with 4 cross divisional games in week 3, it was a time to pick up some ground - instead they went 1/1/2 - the only win being their top team taking down the stunties from division III.

That is all for this week! Keep it here for your weekly news update!

NWFL Insider - WEEK 4

Week 4 is in the books with the cowardly goblins giving all stunty a bad name...many are wondering when the Underworld team will run and hide - although their coach is adamant that they are "true" goblins not the wimps that ran away (although they would love to steal that +ST +AG goblin...)

In the books - let's review the action!

Theme of the Week: Blowout victories! These week saw a lot of lopsided scores - especially in the Div I/IV games where the closest game was decided by 2 TDs, and there was a 4-0 and a forfeit win as well.

Rude welcome Welcome to the Valoran BBC...in their first game, they got smoked 2-0. However, they were not meek in defeat - niggling a key player for the Celtic Bostons. This Valoran club may gain their feet quicker than expected. Speaking of new clubs - we are watching a record in the making...

Streak up to 13! That is right - the hapless Jersey Landfill Giants have now given up 13 straight TDs without scoring one of their own. There are rumors that a petition is being filed to see if they can join the stunty club! In a statement released by a spokesperson for the Landfill Giants, "We play like a stunty team - completely inept on offense...our only hope half the time is a desperation TTM. And we most certainly get run over on defense like a stunty team! However, I can make no comment as to whether we are petitioning the league for special considerations." Certainly interesting news we will be following!

Focus on Division I:
4/0/0 - #8 Whoseton Soilers (FreeRange)
2/0/2 - #9 Foulingham Fearless Fowl (SirOrange)
2/0/2 - #1 Bouncin'more Batrachians (Sigmar1)
0/0/4 - #16 Jersey Landfill Giants (Crimsonwolf)
Bouncin'more won their bye week against the Landfill Giants - but it did provide some critical experience and much needed rest as they prepare to return to preseason form. Soilers continue to be the story - after a forfeit win last week, they crushed Green Bay 3-1 without a scratch. Some thought the orcs of Green Bay would take some wind out of the sails of the Soilers - but it was the opposite, a dominating win with no damage has them even more confident moving forward. Foulingham lost to the Korsairs - a tough opponent - but after their huge win last week over Bouncin - it was a disappointing performance.

Focus on Division II:
2/2/0 - #2 Celtic Bostons (Sutherlands)
1/0/3 - #7 Valoran BBC (Mazzix)
0/2/2 - #15 Outdianapolis Geldings (rllesh)
0/1/3 - #10 Magic Mountain Missiles (eight_five_nine)
Going to have to rename this division to "Hapless Ones" - another week and another round of getting smashed. Celtic managed to win against newcomer in their division - Valoran. However in both games against Division III - the teams were crushed...currently there is growing groundswell support for an investigation into some behind the scenes politics that allowed Celtic Bostons to sneak into this division...we will not repeat some of the comments; however, there is concern that the league could level sanctions against this division if they do not step up their game.

Focus on Division III:
2/2/0 - #6 Skavenblight Mutants (Stinkytroll)
3/0/1 - #3 Snarkville Smurfs (Iskabis)
2/1/1 - #14 St. Louis Yams (Azure)
1/2/1 - #11 Slum City Underbellies (lordchaos)
All four teams are at .500 or better...with Slum City improving each week. Biggest news here is Skavenblight whiffing on a chance to keep undisputed first place as they only got a draw against the Yams. The Smurfs easily won their game against division II opponent and move back into a tie with the Mutants at the top. Special mention goes to Slum City though...they pick up their first win - and promise many more as their slow developing team is starting to show great promise.

Focus on Division IV:
3/0/1 - #13 Nocturne Falls Honey Badgers (Coach_Burgnutz)
2/1/1 - #4 Har Ganeth Korsairs (ryanfitz)
1/1/2 - #5 Green Back Smackers (fangbanger)
1/0/3 - #12 New Gankland Cheatriots (maysrill)
The Badgers continue to win...but this week was the freebie as they get the forfeit win over New Gankland. However, the big news is that the Korsairs may be back on track - a big win for them after a rough first 3 weeks. That win coupled with the disappointing loss of the Green Back Smackers moves the Korsairs into a solid 2nd place and once again they turn their eyes to the top - wondering when they will be back in first...not if...but this cocky bunch just wonders when. The badgers are not easy opponents (unless their coach is drunk).

Cross Divisional Game Update:
Division I vs Division IV: (4/0/4)
Division II vs Division III: (1/3/6)
- Division I and IV played 2 more games - and split yet again...amazing parity so far between those two divisions.
- As for Division II and III...well, we will report something if anything actually changes of note...played 2 games...division III won both again. Nothing to see here!

That is all for this week! Keep it here for your weekly news update!

NWFL Insider - WEEK 5

We had a bye week and some political takeovers of various teams - so the NWFL Insider has patiently waited...but that wait is finally over! Week 5 games are in the books - so let's take a look at the action!

Theme of the Week: No parity here! Some leagues like to claim parity - that anyone can rise up...and through the first few weeks - it seemed like there was some parity in the NWFL...but not so much anymore! Times are a-changing and we have some teams starting to lap the rest of the pack.

Rude goodbye Valoran BBC we welcomed last week...and this week...poof...they are gone. There are rumors their legendary coach left muttering something like "No way I can win the league this season, better just to run away before people realize I just lucked a win last season!" Anyway - cya!

Streak up to 18! Jersey Landfill Giants lost 0-5 this week to run their streak up to 18 TDs given up without scoring one of their own. Rumor has it the streak will end in week 6 however!

Focus on Division II/III games
Snarkville Smurfs 0 - 1 St. Louis Yams
- This game was a nailbiter. The Yams took out 3 CD blockers (2 SI-missing) in the first three turns...but even with the numbers advantage, they have no answer to the Smurf Bull centaurs and the Smurfs nearly got a defensive score as the half ended 0-0. The second half the Smurfs pushed hard - with Papa Smurf being nearly unstoppable - finally, a mass of goblins managed to surf the bull and recover the ball - still, it was a very close struggle, but the Yams managed to just sneak free for the 1-0 win at the buzzer. A big upset for sure - especially because it will likely cost the Smurfs 2 games as they are very shorthanded for their week 6 game.
Outdianapolis Geldings 1 - 2 Skavenblight Mutants
- A game that was not all Mutants as some might expect. It was back and forth in the first half - of note, the Geldings had the ball and tried to score, but failed the 3+ dodge with RR to score...and against gutter runners...that was doom as the ball went the length of the field and the half ended with the Mutants up 1-0. The second half, the Mutants scored fast for the 2-0 lead and then held on against the Geldings for the 2-1 win. They did lose an inexperienced linerat during the game.
Magic Mountain Missiles 0 - 4 Celtic Bostons
- The MMM's did a 2 assist foul with their best player on turn 1 - resulting in an ejection. The game was close...it was 1-0 at halftime...but with MMM losing some players - they had a player racing for the tie on turn 4 of the second half - but were cut down. Down 0-2 and nearly out of players, Celtic Bostons ran in two late scores as they farmed some spp.
Slum City Underbellies has forfeit win over Valoran BBC
- Weak-willed Valoran cried themselves to sleep just thinking of those nasty folks from Slum City. Well done by Slum City!

Focus on Division I/IV games
Foulingham Fearless Fowl 0 - 1 Green Back Smackers
- Green Bay put forth amazing early pressure and the ball was back and forth near Foulingham goal line...eventually Green Bay managed to grab the ball and score the defensive score. In the second half, Green Bay nearly scored again - but ended with the ball dropped in the endzone. A rather bloodless game.
Har Ganeth Korsairs 0 - 1 Whoseton Soilers
- The mighty Soilers look like trash on offense to start the game...most of the first half, it was the Korsairs with the ball - nearly scoring - but the Soilers just stopped them...and a nice Block/Guard Korsair lineelf was killed (apoth failing). In the second half - it seemed like the Korsairs would come up with a great win...but wardancers...ouch...the Soilers come through with a steal and late score for the 1-0 win.
Bouncin'more Batrachians 2 - 1 Nocturne Falls Honey Badgers
- The undead started with the ball and T1 fouled out the mighty Kroxigor..but their ghoul tripped over his out feet (snaked gfi) and knocked himself out. However, they managed to recover and the Honey Badgers took a 1-0 lead into halftime. Second half, Boo Jackson of the Badgers was pushed into the crowd - where some fans fell into a feeding frenzy each wanting a piece of the ghoul. Midway through the second half the frogs tied it up...then only 7 undead were left and they could not handle the frogs who leaped all over the bones for the 2-1 comeback win.
Jersey Landfill Giants 0 - 5 Surrey Serpents
- Ouch...not much to say here...the Giants seem to be cursed...even skinks are CAS'ing the Giants now...and running around, through and over the Giants en route to a dominating win and great spp farming game for the Serpents.

Focus on Division I:
5/0/0 - #8 Whoseton Soilers (FreeRange)
3/0/2 - #1 Bouncin'more Batrachians (Sigmar1)
2/0/3 - #9 Foulingham Fearless Fowl (SirOrange)
0/0/5 - #16 Jersey Landfill Giants (Crimsonwolf)
- Really important win for Bouncin'more - rebounding from a rough start, they moved back into second place in the division and are starting to look to be in a good position to make a playoff run.

Focus on Division II:
3/2/0 - #2 Celtic Bostons (Sutherlands)
0/2/3 - #15 Outdianapolis Geldings (rllesh)
0/1/4 - #10 Magic Mountain Missiles (eight_five_nine)
1/0/4 - #7 Valoran BBC (Mazzix)
- No unexpected movement here. Bostons keep winning and the rest of the division keeps losing. Moving right along...

Focus on Division III:
3/2/0 - #6 Skavenblight Mutants (Stinkytroll)
3/1/1 - #14 St. Louis Yams (Azure)
3/0/2 - #3 Snarkville Smurfs (Iskabis)
2/2/1 - #11 Slum City Underbellies (lordchaos)
- Big upset win for the Yams - in a nearly impossible division with the Smurfs and Mutants and the upstart Slum City, it was a much needed win for the Yams. With Slum City winning again (a forfeit win - but still a win) - everyone in the division has a winning record.

Focus on Division IV:
3/0/2 - #13 Nocturne Falls Honey Badgers (Coach_Burgnutz)
2/1/2 - #4 Har Ganeth Korsairs (ryanfitz)
2/1/2 - #5 Green Back Smackers (fangbanger)
2/0/3 - #12 Surrey Serpents (Blazer)
- One of the most interesting divisions...it looked like the Honey Badgers were going to pull away - but the upset this week brings them back to the pack as the two teams on top lose and the two teams on the bottom win.

Cross Divisional Game Update:
Division I vs Division IV: ( 6/0/6 )
Division II vs Division III: ( 1/3/8 )
- Division I and IV continue the amazing balance - 4 more games played between the divisions - yet again splitting 2 wins a piece. As the season series between the two divisions near a close, it could swing either way.
- As for Division II and III - 2 games played - 2 more wins for Division III...yawn!

That is all for this week! We will delve more into stats next week (since right now the stats are a bit off because of so many week 6 games already played) - there will be commendations and awards to the various winners after these tournaments conclude! Keep it here for your weekly news update!

NWFL Insider - WEEK 6

We are closing on the end of the season...already more than half of the week 7 games have been played - so that means our big midseason report will be out next week! Since the midseason report will be focused mostly on playoff positions and predictions - we will focus a bit more on other stories this week.

Enough pussy footing around the topic! Division II SUCKS! Good grief...what a pathetic division. We have the Mordheim's DominatriX --> Valoran BBC --> Sapper House Idiots...3 different coaches just to play 7 games!! Now - it is not entirely their fault since I have it on good authority that Sutherland (Celtic Bostons' coach) has some serious BO issues and it makes it hard for anyone to stay in the same division as him...but still! The other two teams in the conference are a combined 0/4/7 with 1 forfeit win...with rumors that one of them (Rllesh) is perhaps on his way out...well get your applications in quick - but bring some deodorant because it stinks here!

The streak ends! Jersey Landfill Giants may have continued to lose - but they had one heck of a celebration after they SCORED! Yes...you read that correctly! After giving up 19 unanswered TDs to start their season - they managed to sneak one in. Up next is the eagerly awaited day when they manage a DRAW! Fear not...it is coming! And as a word of warning, the first team to LOSE to the Landfill Giants is soooo getting ridiculed on the NWFL Insider!

Focus on Division II/III games
Snarkville Smurfs 1 - 2 Celtic Bostons
- The Celtic Bostons benefited from a massively short-handed Smurf team as they were still recovering from the beating they took from the Yams...that left them vulnerable and the Bostons took advantage of the opportunity - with an easy match in week 7 - it means that the Bostons will finish the half-season at 5/2/0. The Smurfs are in a bit of trouble though. Back to back losses put them looking up at a playoff positions - but the bookies still have faith in Papa Smurf and his little smurfs.

Outdianapolis Geldings forfeit win over Sapper House Idiots

Magic Mountain Missiles 1 - 1 St. Louis Yams
- The Yams continue to struggle, they had their chance to win, but the elves were too tough and 3M gets a much deserved draw. Some risky plays by 3M finally paid off for them this game! The Yams remain outside any playoff picture - but at least continue to be competitive.

Slum City Underbellies 1 - 2 Skavenblight Mutants
- Hotly contested as Slum City is truly turning into a formidable foe...however, the Mutants take another win and look to finish atop their division at 5/2/0 and have really put a big gap between themselves and any competition at this point.

Focus on Division I/IV games
Foulingham Fearless Fowl 0 - 1 Nocturne Falls Honey Badgers
- Huge bounce back game for the Badgers. After falling to the Slann the week before - they needed some good news and taking down the Fowl was huge. It was a pounding as well - as the Fowl got smacked hard and the Badgers hardly were scratched.

Har Ganeth Korsairs 2 - 1 Surrey Serpents
- Big favorites in the game, the Korsairs did not disappoint in taking down the newcomer Serpents. The dark elf blitzers are just everywhere and dominated the hard fought game.

Bouncin'more Batrachians 2 - 1 Green Back Smackers
- Can anyone stop the frogs? After losing back to back games, it looked like they were going to be also rans...not so - these frogs still have life in them and turned in another stellar performance...although we think the best is yet to come! In this game, they took a lot of damage were constantly getting knocked off the pitch...but they would not give up - and a bit of frog magic carried the day yet again.

Jersey Landfill Giants 1 - 2 Whoseton Soilers
- The beginning of the end!! The Landfill giants score for the first time this season...and the Soilers suddenly look vulnerable! Are the mighty elves starting to drag a bit? Only time will tell.

Focus on Division I:
6/0/0 - #8 Whoseton Soilers (FreeRange)
4/0/2 - #1 Bouncin'more Batrachians (Sigmar1)
2/0/4 - #9 Foulingham Fearless Fowl (SirOrange)
0/0/6 - #16 Jersey Landfill Giants (Crimsonwolf)
- Really very similar story as last week with another huge win by Bouncin'more...3 straight wins after a 1/0/2 start puts them back into the top few teams in the league. As for the Fowl - they really missed a great chance to get to .500 and position themselves for a playoff run. The Giants are the giants - but hope for optimism abounds. And the Soilers? They are the best. No question - no one can argue - they stand atop the league as the best - even if they get upset in week 7 - they will be the only team to reach 6 wins in the first half. They are the true giants of the NWFL so far!

Focus on Division II:
4/2/0 - #2 Celtic Bostons (Sutherlands)
1/2/3 - #15 Outdianapolis Geldings (rllesh)
0/2/4 - #10 Magic Mountain Missiles (eight_five_nine)
1/0/5 - #7 Sapper House Idiots (Spaceman_Spiff)
- *shakes head in sadness*

Focus on Division III:
4/2/0 - #6 Skavenblight Mutants (Stinkytroll)
3/2/1 - #14 St. Louis Yams (Azure)
2/2/2 - #11 Slum City Underbellies (lordchaos)
3/0/3 - #3 Snarkville Smurfs (Iskabis)
- The Mutants are solidly in first with the other 3 teams all bunched together right around .500. Smashing each other up - no one is getting out of this division without some bumps and bruises!

Focus on Division IV:
4/0/2 - #13 Nocturne Falls Honey Badgers (Coach_Burgnutz)
3/1/2 - #4 Har Ganeth Korsairs (ryanfitz)
2/1/3 - #5 Green Back Smackers (fangbanger)
2/0/4 - #12 Surrey Serpents (Blazer)
- Turning into a 2 team race between the Badgers and the Korsairs. The Smackers keep missing golden opportunities to turn their season around! All hope is not lost though - they are just on the cusp...and a bit of luck and they will be back in the mix.

Cross Divisional Game Update:
Division I vs Division IV: ( 7/0/7 )
Division II vs Division III: ( 2/4/8 )
- Division I and IV continue the funny balance they have had every single week...two more games - one more win for each side. Only 2 games left between the divisions and the guess is it will end for 8 wins apiece!
- As for Division II and III - Wow! Another win for division II - woot! Celtic Bostons took advantage of a depleted smurfs team...otherwise, division III continues to dominate. Two games remain here - and likely division III will win both to finish with a 10/4/2 record against division II.

Stat time:
Okay, next week we will focus on the playoff positions more...but now we will focus a bit on the players so far!
Stats are available here!

There will be several awards handed out at the end of the season (with trophies if someone can make them) - they will be given out as follows:

Top Quarterback: To determine the best quarterback, the passing yards + 2*number of completions will be used.

Top Receiver: The winner is the player with the most TDs scored. If multiple players with same amount of TDs, then most SPP among them will win.

Top Running Back: The winner is the one with the most running yards + 5*number of TDs.

Top Blocker: The winner is the player with the most CAS. Tie breaker will be the player with the lower number of blocks (i.e. higher CAS rate).

MVP: The winner is the player with the most SPP...tie breaker is number of MVPs awarded.

All purpose: The winner is the player with the most Comp + CAS + TDs.

You can look at the stats to see who currently is in the lead...we will list the current first place players in the midseason report!

Okay that is all for now...but more coming next week with the midseason report - including the midseason rankings of all 16 teams!

NWFL Insider - WEEK 7

We have reached midseason - for some teams the grind has been too much and they have fallen by the wayside...for other teams, they have taken this first half of the season to rise above their fellow teams and establish themselves. So we are going to dive right in!

Midseason Rankings
Just as all the teams were ranked from 1 to 16 after the preseason, each team is now ranked based on their midseason record. Teams will the same record are ranked based on a very complicated tiebreaker system. First number is preseason ranking, second number is midseason ranking.

6/0/1 - #8/#1 Whoseton Soilers (FreeRange)
5/2/0 - #6/#2 Skavenblight Mutants (Stinkytroll)
5/2/0 - #2/#3 Celtic Bostons (Sutherlands)
5/0/2 - #1/#4 Bouncin'more Batrachians (Sigmar1)
4/1/2 - #4/#5 Har Ganeth Korsairs (ryanfitz)
4/0/3 - #13/#6 Nocturne Falls Honey Badgers (Coach_Burgnutz)
4/0/3 - #3/#7 Snarkville Smurfs (Iskabis)
3/2/2 - #11/#8 Slum City Underbellies (lordchaos)
3/2/2 - #14/#9 St. Louis Yams (Azure)
3/1/3 - #5/#10 Green Back Smackers (fangbanger)
3/0/4 - #12/#11 Surrey Serpents (Blazer)
2/0/5 - #9/#12 Foulingham Fearless Fowl (SirOrange)
1/2/4 - #15/#13 Outdianapolis Geldings (rllesh)
1/0/6 - #7/#14 Sapper House Idiots (Spaceman_Spiff)
0/2/5 - #10/#15 Magic Mountain Missiles (eight_five_nine)
0/0/7 - #16/#16 Jersey Landfill Giants (Crimsonwolf)

Conference Standings
As a reminder to all our followers - each conference has 2 divisions and each division will send its top team to the playoffs plus the top 2 teams in the conference...so for the rest of the season we will be focusing on the conferences and the wildcard standings for those teams that suck too much to win their division Smile

Alpha Conference (consists of Divisions 1 & 3)
Division 1:
6/0/1 - #8/#1 Whoseton Soilers (FreeRange)
5/0/2 - #1/#4 Bouncin'more Batrachians (Sigmar1)
2/0/5 - #9/#12 Foulingham Fearless Fowl (SirOrange)
0/0/7 - #16/#16 Jersey Landfill Giants (Crimsonwolf)
Division 3:
5/2/0 - #6/#2 Skavenblight Mutants (Stinkytroll)
4/0/3 - #3/#7 Snarkville Smurfs (Iskabis)
3/2/2 - #11/#8 Slum City Underbellies (lordchaos)
3/2/2 - #14/#9 St. Louis Yams (Azure)
- Clearly the more competitive of the 2 conferences. With 3 of the top 4 teams and 6 of the top 9 teams - this makes for a very interesting race for the playoff positions. Right now have to give the edge to Soilers and Mutants to win their divisions...then if we look at the wild card race:
10 points - Bouncin'more Batrachians
8 points - Snarkville Smurfs
8 points - Slum City Underbellies
8 points - St. Louis Yams
Only 2 of these teams will make the playoffs - so each game is going to be tightly contested as each team tries to get the edge.
Prediction: Nothing fancy here - Bouncin'more and Smurfs should make the wildcards with Slum City and Yams fading down the stretch.

Omega Conference (consists of Divisions 2 & 4)
Division 2:
5/2/0 - #2/#3 Celtic Bostons (Sutherlands)
1/2/4 - #15/#13 Outdianapolis Geldings (rllesh)
1/0/6 - #7/#14 Sapper House Idiots (Spaceman_Spiff)
0/2/5 - #10/#15 Magic Mountain Missiles (eight_five_nine)
Division 4:
4/1/2 - #4/#5 Har Ganeth Korsairs (ryanfitz)
4/0/3 - #13/#6 Nocturne Falls Honey Badgers (Coach_Burgnutz)
3/1/3 - #5/#10 Green Back Smackers (fangbanger)
3/0/4 - #12/#11 Surrey Serpents (Blazer)
- Obviously Celtic Bostons continue to just cruise to their division title...but given how badly division 2 has performed so far - it is a safe bet to say that three teams from division 4 will make the playoffs. Korsairs and Badgers are neck and neck for the division title...wildcard is up for grabs.
Prediction: Celtic Bostons win easily (duh), Korsairs managed to pull out the title late with Badgers actually MISSING the playoffs...Smackers and Serpents jump the Badgers to claim the wildcards.

Cross Divisional Game Update:
Division 4 defeats Division 1: (9/0/7)
Division 3 defeats Division 2: (10/4/2)
Division 1 vs Division 3: (0/0/0)
Division 2 vs Division 4: (0/0/0)
- Division 1 and 4 had been deadlocked throughout the first six weeks - but finally in the last week of the season, Smackers and Serpents both win their games to win the cross divisional rivalry for division 4!

Ramblings and looking back!
The first half of the season has been intense with some twists and turns - however, there are a few teams that really have made their mark on the first half-season and certainly are pushing to continue this in the second half.
Whoseton Soilers have been the biggest surprise - winning their first six games they are clearly the team to beat...of course they did lose in week 7. However, they were not really *hurt* in the process. A wood elf team with 13 total players - only 2 linemen carry injuries and they have all the necessary components. The bench + treeman allow them to absorb hits. Sure handed thrower, 2 skilled wardancers - one with ST 4. A guard and spattering of wrestle and dodge. They even had 120k in the bank to go along with 2 RRs. What is the weakness here? Really, really hard to find one. Until and unless they take some serious damage, they are going to be cruising. With their depth and treasury, the odds are they will continue to cruise right into the playoffs...can anyone stop them?
Bouncin'more Batrachians have two losses and most had written them off...indeed if they have not pulled off the week 7 upset over the Soilers, they would be back in the middle of the pack. However, they continued to surge and have staked their claim to be one of the top teams. Looking at their team it is clear why they are so feared. Through the entire preseason and first 7 regular season games they have yet to lose a player - and only carry a single injury (-ma on a linefrog). They have the devastating MBPO combo on a blitzer along with block/tackle on another and a multiple guards, a +ST catcher, fearsome Kroxigor and several skills on linefrogs. A huge treasury makes it clear they are not going away. Another team that it is hard to see them fading down the stretch - at peak health, good skills, fat treasury...yeah they are a contender!
Celtic Bostons do not get much press because they sit in a weak division...but all they do it win. However, questions remain as to how good they really are - and unlike the first other contenders, Celtic has suffered a large number of injures (6 total - including 2 snow trolls and a guard lineman). In addition to dead players, both Ulfwerener are carrying injuries. Both of the berserkers are MBPO monsters...but overall the team is constantly relying on journeymen and the odds are they will fade down the stretch - easily making the playoffs...but likely being a one and done team once they get there.
Skavenblight Mutants are the last of the 5+ win teams. Like the first two teams mentioned, this is an agility team that has avoided major injury and has a deep bench and large treasury. Running with 4 GRs, a rat ogre and both blitzers - they have all skilled up nicely provided an extremely powerful bashing and balling core to the team.
Prediction: All four teams listed above will make the playoffs and one of them will win it.

Stat time:Stats are available here!

Midseason leaders in NWFL:
Top Quarterback: 2*CMP + PassYards

Top Receiver: Most TDs (most SPP)
1.Ultra Blazer - 7 TDs / 26 spp
2.Teejay Hushyomutha - 7 TDs / 25 spp
3.No one else with more than 4 TDs

Top Running Back: 5*TDs + RushYards
1.Teejay Hushyomutha - 7 TDs / 129 rush (164)
2.Ultra Blazer - 7 TDs / 110 rush (145)
3.Sam "Pretty Boy" Bradford - 2 TDs / 104 rush (114)

Top Blocker: CAS (least blocks)
1.Long Stream - 9 CAS DEAD
2.James "From Cheater U" Laurinaitis - 7 CAS RETIRED
3.Rot Woodson - 6 CAS

MVP: SPP (most MVP)
1.Papa Smurf - 34 spp
2.Ultra Blazer - 26 spp
3.Teejay Hushyomutha - 25 spp

All purpose: Cmp + TDs + CAS
1.Jetrel Caladium - 14
2.Teejay Hushyomutha - 10
3.Long Stream - 9 DEAD

Good luck to everyone the second half of the season!

NWFL Insider - WEEK 8 + 9

A slight delay in publishing Week 8 Insider and Whooosh - Week 9 is finished as well - so this will be a special double issue!

Focus on the Playoffs
Each game is taking on more meaning - teams and fans are looking to the standings and scoreboard watching - rooting against their rivals (and sometimes throwing rocks!) The time is upon us...the playoff push!

Alpha Conference (consists of Divisions 1 & 3)
Division 1:
7/0/2 - #8/#1 Whoseton Soilers (FreeRange)
6/1/2 - #1/#4 Bouncin'more Batrachians (Sigmar1)
3/1/5 - #9/#12 Foulingham Fearless Fowl (SirOrange)
0/0/9 - #16/#16 Jersey Landfill Giants (Crimsonwolf)
Division 3:
6/3/0 - #6/#2 Skavenblight Mutants (Stinkytroll)
5/1/3 - #3/#7 Snarkville Smurfs (Iskabis)
4/2/3 - #11/#8 Slum City Underbellies (lordchaos)
3/2/4 - #14/#9 St. Louis Yams (Azure)

Game Recaps Week 8:
Foulingham Fearless Fowl 2-2 Skavenblight Mutants
- A minor slip-up for the Mutants. With a comfortable lead in Division 3, this was a game for them to build on their lead...instead they only grabbed 1 point from the game. The Mutants tossed 60 blocks but on this day were ineffective against the Necromantic defenses.

Snarkville Smurfs 2-1 Whoseton Soilers
- WOW! The top ranked Wood Elves whom had dominated through the first 6 weeks before slipping up stumble again. The key here were the heavy hitting Smurfs took out several wood elves. It also is a question about the future...will the Soilers start to fade down the stretch as more and more teams start hitting them with MB tacklers? This upset allows the Smurfs to gain ground on the Mutants as well.

Bouncin'more Batrachians 2-1 St. Louis Yams
- Easy game for Bouncin'more as they take the easy win over the stunty team in what amounts to a bye week for teams. The Yams fouled, stabbed, blocked, piled on, used a wizard...tossed some goblins...but other than providing some laughs were totally ineffective during the game.

Jersey Landfill Giants 0-2 Slum City Underbellies
- Slum City gained position in the playoff race...taking their game against the giants to be the spp farming game it has been for many teams thus far. People are starting to ask the question: will they win? Will the Landfill Giants go the whole season without a win - or will they play the ultimate spoiler rising up to smite a playoff wannabe...yeah...we do not think so either!

Game Recaps Week 9:
Foulingham Fearless Fowl 3-0 Jersey Landfill Giants
- An excellent 2 weeks for the Fowl...a draw against a top team and then an easy 3-0 win against a bottom team gives them a great start in the second half. While playoffs remain unlikely - those teams above have started to look at the Fowl...wondering if they will make a run. Can they? Two good werewolves can carry a team far. They are on the outside looking in - but they are lurking!

Snarkville Smurfs 1-1 Bouncin'more Batrachians
- Huge matchup between two of the top teams. However, spectators were left shaking their heads...they way both teams played it looked like they were very beatable. Constant failures on 2d blocks - the Smurfs had the game won...but 2 double skulls...but Bouncin'more would just mess up themselves. In the end, the Smurfs probably feel they missed a chance here. They had the win in their grasp and let it slip away...with the two teams fighting for playoff position...that 1 point could be huge!

Whoseton Soilers 3-2 St. Louis Yams
- Nothing can cure a losing streak like playing the Yams! Boil them, mash them, anyway you like them - the Yams are a tasty treat and an easy 2 points! Rumors are that the Yams are looking to develop a new fight song and cheer...makes sense - they stink so badly on the field, they have to try to do well somewhere!

Skavenblight Mutants 3-0 Slum City Underbellies
- Important game as Slum City had been rolling along and looked to be a threat...WHAM! Yeah...that stopped in a hurry. Gutter runner magic in this one. The score got out of hand in the second half - but close through the first half of play.

Updated playoff picture:
Division 1 Champion:
7/0/2 (14) - #8/#1 Whoseton Soilers (FreeRange)
Division 3 Champion:
6/3/0 (15) - #6/#2 Skavenblight Mutants (Stinkytroll)
Wildcards:
6/1/2 (13) - #1/#4 Bouncin'more Batrachians (Sigmar1)
5/1/3 (11) - #3/#7 Snarkville Smurfs (Iskabis)
Home for the holidays:
4/2/3 (10) - #11/#8 Slum City Underbellies (lordchaos)
3/2/4 (8 ) - #14/#9 St. Louis Yams (Azure)
3/1/5 (7) - #9/#12 Foulingham Fearless Fowl (SirOrange)
0/0/9 (0) - #16/#16 Jersey Landfill Giants (Crimsonwolf)

The current positions are probably what is going to hold true for the end of the season. However, the Smurfs certainly are not comfortable - as their lead is a mere 1 point and they have to play Slum City...that game could easily be the one that ends up determining the last playoff team!

Omega Conference (consists of Divisions 2 & 4)
Division 2:
5/4/0 - #2/#3 Celtic Bostons (Sutherlands)
2/2/5 - #15/#13 Outdianapolis Geldings (rllesh)
3/0/6 - #7/#14 Sapper House Idiots (Spaceman_Spiff)
0/2/7 - #10/#15 Magic Mountain Missiles (eight_five_nine)
Division 4:
5/1/3 - #13/#6 Nocturne Falls Honey Badgers (Coach_Burgnutz)
4/2/3 - #5/#10 Green Back Smackers (fangbanger)
4/1/4 - #4/#5 Har Ganeth Korsairs (ryanfitz)
4/0/5 - #12/#11 Surrey Serpents (Blazer)

Game Recaps - Week 8:
Magic Mountain Missiles 0-1 Sapper House Idiots
- A big win for Sapper House...now 3M has struggled - but for Sapper House to come in and make anything out of what is considered a lost season is an accomplishment. In the weaker conference of the two - some Idiots still dream!

Nocturne Falls Honey Badgers 1-1 Celtic Bostons
- Ugh. Not much to say about this! Insider sources say that the Badgers lucked this one. Bostons had it won easily - but only through near divine intervention did the Badgers manage to someone sneak out the draw. Anyway, Bostons did not really play hard considering they are just coasting to the playoffs - drinking fuzzy navels (huh? really?) on the beach...

Har Ganeth Korsairs 0-3 Green Back Smackers
- SMACK DOWN! Not only did Green Back crush the Korsairs - 2 of the Korsair blitzers were taken out - 50 spp of dark elf blitzer gone! This is the kind of game that can turn a season...Korsairs could be going down hard. Miss the playoffs? Maybe...they should be worried.

Outdianapolis Geldings 0-2 Surrey Serpents
- Serpents are another late entry making some noise...a big win for them because the wildcard is wide open and this was crucial to their chances as the Geldings are one of the teams in the mix with the Serpents for a wildcard (somewhat surprising to make that statement!)

Game Recaps Week 9:
Magic Mountain Missiles 0-3 Outdianapolis Geldings
- An awesome rebound game for the Geldings as they keep their playoff hopes alive...for 3M, they are fully in just playing spoiler role now. At one point, they and the Geldings were tied at the bottom of the division...but one team is ascending - the other...not so much.

Nocturne Falls Honey Badgers 2-1 Har Ganeth Korsairs
- Two things were confirmed this game. First, that the Badgers are lucky. Yup, multiple Insider sources have confirmed they are making sacrifices to anyone who wants one (they really do not care - they accept help from any source) - and as a result they have been getting quite lucky. Yup...no skill at all! Smile Second thing confirmed is that the Korsairs are in trouble...which has really opened up the playoff race all the more now.

Celtic Bostons 1-1 Green Back Smackers
- Bostons continue to pick up a few points as they cruise. Apparently they are drinking wine coolers (really? GIRL drink!!) on the beaches just waiting for the playoffs...yawn...

Sapper House Idiots 2-1 Surrey Serpents
- Two relatively unknown teams played what could be one of the most important this season. Both late entry teams scrapping to make their team matter in the second half of the season and this head to head matchup was huge for both their chances...kudos for the Idiots...who still believe! No injures and another victory...now others are starting to believe...and worry!

Updated playoff picture:
Division 2 champion:
5/4/0 (14) - #2/#3 Celtic Bostons (Sutherlands)
Division 4 champion:
5/1/3 (11) - #13/#6 Nocturne Falls Honey Badgers (Coach_Burgnutz)
Wildcards:
4/2/3 (10) - #5/#10 Green Back Smackers (fangbanger)
4/1/4 (9) - #4/#5 Har Ganeth Korsairs (ryanfitz)
Home and not happy about it:
4/0/5 (8 ) - #12/#11 Surrey Serpents (Blazer)
2/2/5 (6) - #15/#13 Outdianapolis Geldings (rllesh)
3/0/6 (6) - #7/#14 Sapper House Idiots (Spaceman_Spiff)
0/2/7 (2) - #10/#15 Magic Mountain Missiles (eight_five_nine)

-The Korsairs currently are holding on to a wildcard...but everyone can see the bleeding and like sharks...all the other teams are fighting to claim that spot. As of this point..Serpents, Geldings, Idiots...all three teams have dreams of rising up - very little separates them at this point.

Cross Divisional Game Update:
Division 4 defeats Division 1: (9/0/7)
Division 3 defeats Division 2: (10/4/2)
Division 1 vs Division 3: (2/2/2)
Division 2 vs Division 4: (1/2/1)
- Parity so far...how long can that last?

Final thoughts
With only 5 weeks left, the playoff races have really taken center stage for teams. It can sometimes just take one game - like with the Korsairs to change the fortunes not just of one team - but of many.

Until next week!
