This ambitious amphibian rolled a double after making 11 SPP last game (1 cps, 2tds, 1 int, 1 cas), turning a lingering defeat into a win more or less by himself.

Already has wrestle, and was planned to become the teams usual ball sacker (w, strip ball, dauntless), team has an AG4 lino, who could do the same role, without having to take dauntless, and was planned to go that way either.
It wouldnt hurt to have two of them though, on a Slann team i guess.

Take guard? Which is appealing to me since i tend to play too bashy with the dodgey breeds in general.
Or take a pass skill like, Accurate or Pass instead?
I pass too much backfields, while im occupied bashing with AG4 in my opponents half (with a poor setup mostly, easy to exploit on a fail).

Skip the double, for Dodge or other normal skill?
This is reasonable also ofc, since i tend to lose too much players with my "style" of play. Also there is already a guarding lino on the roster.

Nerves of Steel could also be discussed but it isnt well placed on a wrestler i guess and it doesn't suit my style much at the moment.

So, i want to keep the cake and eat it once more i guess.
Which is the cookie to favour over it now? Rolling Eyes

I lean towards Guard, but not sure if i can trust myself here, with all my bloodthirstiness.
Or to skip for dodge...

Guard, baby! 2+ leaping Guard is awesome fun. Just be sanguine about it when your little green man goes red all over.

Guard is not healthy for a Str 2, AV7 player, although it's an awesome skill.

I would be tempted by Pass, although the first skill would have been better as Block or Dodge.

@JackassRampant

That is what i thought still. Though i have problems realizing when green turns to red. ^^

@Duke

That is my fear, im not an expert at keeping players alive. Also, too bad he has wrestle, that will lessen the usefulness of his guard a bit. Guard on a blodger would just be more solid, guess i wouldnt hesitate then.
Devil and angel on my shoulders. Thanks for your opinion guys, so we have thesis and anti-thesis now. Curious on the other opinions. Smile

Even though the wrestle is not ideal for guard it's still pretty much your best bet.

Pass or Leader could be options depending on how you play the team.

Essentially this guy now leaps in to a cage for the assist, and your ag4 linefrog takes wrestle and strip ball.

Wrestle is actually superior to block for keeping guys alive I've found, unless, the other team likes fouling.

guard ftw. Only reason not to take guard on a slann catcher is if you WANT to make an int specialist (then nerves of steel).

In a diff thread, I recently commented how Guard on a Human Catcher, St 2 AV 7, is not a good plan.

However...

Ag 4 + Leap changes a lot. Yes, he'll be short-lived - no two ways about that, he's going into harm's way and is completely unprepared for it. But while he's alive, and esp working w/ a Leaping Ballhawk, he's gold.

Sometimes a +stat or doubles comes at entirely the wrong moment and on exactly the wrong player. This is almost one of those times, but one you should embrace, and not refuse. Don't think of how nervous you'll be for him - think about how nervous your opponents will be for their ballcarrier.

Guard, all the way.

(And get that Ag 4 skilled up asap!)

not just AG4 + leap, but AG4 + leap + VLL + other leapers. =)

And I'm here to tell you that Guard Catchers are great on Human teams! At least after Block, that is. But part of that is the team's ability to lay out a ton of Guard, and Slann Blitzers aren't the same kind of animal at all, so it's really only the Leap/VLL that makes Guard a great Catcher skill.

I put down dodge, but I would take Dauntless. Then give him Stripball. Guarenteed Cage Breaker.

btw, I would never take Nerves of Steel on a Slann Catcher. They already have Diving Catch which gives them a plus one to catch. So with one guy in a tackle zone you still have a 2+ chance to catch any ball. 4AG, +1 to catch with an acurate pass, +1 for Diving Catch. From all the teams I never mind running 3 catcher up field to be marked. I always know I have a couple different ways of getting a long pass off and scoring a TD.

I dont like Having guard on my Catchers. I know they are more versitle to leap in a supply assists, but I dont like leaving them in there to fight it out. They can always supply support from the open corners just as easily. I like to support a hit, where I then push a player away from the catcher tackle zone, so they cant hit them. Guard would tempt me to leave him inot a couple tackle zones were more hitts could be taken.

Slann can usually score very easily. Guard will help you the most when defending.

Anquan Boundin is a terror in my League, and allows for all kinds of awesome plays on the occassion my frogs can roll more than 2 dice in a row without a one. Obviously in your case wrestle is less ideal, but a 2+ leaping guard is still worth it.
