JackassRampant Franchise Draft History

Hey, folks! We're going to go on a little stroll down memory lane, as part of our quest to track the NBFL draft picks and see who the greatest pick of all time is! I'm giving each draft pick a Power and a Value, based on what the player has done since joining the NBFL.

My Metrics
* Draft Power is based on the number of seasons the team has played (5 points per 7-game series started), the number of SPP earned (1:1), the value of improvements the player has earned (10k:1), and a bonus if the player is still on the roster uninjured (+10, -2 per relevant injury).
* Draft Value is the power at draft order: a top-four pick is worth Power/10, and anything after 32 is Power/5. Higher picks are expected to earn more power, so the same power at a lesser pick is a greater value.
* Active players are noted with an asterisk after the player name. These players are probably undervalued in the math as I have it, because the only credit they get for sticking around is 5 points for the Season XII second series and 10 points for remaining rostered. This is okay: it just means they'll climb the rankings as they live on.

Before we get into ranking the teams, franchises, coaches, or picks, though, we're going to take in the whole history of the draft, franchise-by-franchise, including all four draft seasons (IX-XII) and both expansion drafts (XI, XII).

I'll use this format:
Draft/order Player (position, school). Blurb. Power, Value.

Part 1: Arizona through Buffalo

ARIZONA
The Arizona franchise has seen two teams so far, with a third one starting up just now. At this time, coach FRSHMN is still a freshman, and hasn't seen a draft class, but coach Apojar and his Aryzona Cardynals (Skaven) have had two picks, and after Apojar left JumboParagon's Arizona Undercards (Underworld) have had five draft picks, including one pick in the Season XI Expansion Draft. All-in-all, this has been a short-lived lot, but some played well.

*** Aryzona Cardynals
Picks: 2
Draft Value: 2.1

IX/8 Bill Pace (Thrower, Vampirebilt) didn't last long, but he did chuck a couple passes. Power 8, Value 0.9.
X/30 Nathan Stupork (Blitzer, PainState) burned bright and flamed out late in the season. Power 24, Value 4.0.

*** Arizona Undercards
Picks: 5
Draft Value: 5.5

XI Expansion/3 Jimmy Smith (Blitzer, Jacksonville) terrorized the NFC West for a season and a half before going sploosh. Power 42, Value 4.2.
XI/12 Josh "Flash" Cody (Goblin, Vampirebilt) had yet another short, bright career. But at least he lived to retire. Power 45, Value 5.6.
XI/36 Desiree Deathlauncher (Thrower, DDT) was still a primary baller on the Undercards when the coach withdrew. Power 45, Value 9.0.
XI/44 Morkel "DQ" Mauti (Goblin, PainState) is not star material, but he weathered the storm. Power 28, Value 5.6.
XII/16 S. "Remy" Doege (Goblin, Texas Tech) is star material, but was still waiting for his turn when the team's franchise contract was voided for non-participation. Power 21, Value 3.0.

ATLANTA
There has been only one Atlanta team in the Draft era, RyanFitz's Atlatl 'n' Falchions (Lizardman). As such the team has only drafted four players, but all four have done well, making Atlatl a contender for the best of all teams in terms of overall draft history.

*** Atlatl 'n' Falchions
Picks: 4 (*2 active)
Draft Value: 9.5

IX/18 Stiffin' Ryan Griffin (Skink, U.Con.) had a nice run of two-plus seasons, with two skill-ups. Power 62, Value 8.9.
X/26 Spencer Laggar* (Saurus, Cal) has been active a very long time, earning 44 SPP. Power 86, Value 17.2.
XI/17 Doug Free (Saurus, NIH) played hard for a season and a half. Power 55, Value 7.9.
XII/25 M. "Mickey" Okafor* (Skink, Texas Tech) has been ballin' it, but as a rookie just hasn't had time to rack up the points. Power 24, Value 4.0.

BALTIMORE
In the draft era, Coach Miyuso has made all of Baltimore's picks, but not all for the same team: the first one was with the Haltinmore Kravins (Ogres), and the rest have been with the Baltimorc Waaaghvens (Orcs). Baltimore hs seen some of the best and worst of all draft history.

*** Haltinmore Kravins
Picks: 1
Draft Value: 2.0

IX/3 Matthew Pritchett, Jr. (Ogre, Navy) had a short, violent life, and taught us all why Ogre teams should stay out of the NBFL. Power 20, Value 2.0.

*** Baltimorc Waaaghvens
Picks: 5 (*2 active)
Draft Value: 3.7

X/1Yamon Figursdsson* (Thrower, Kalmar State) is still a star on the Waaaghvens, and has earned a +ST improvement! Power 71, Value 7.1.
X/29 Larry Brink (Blocker, NIH) was a key player on the Waaghvens for nearly two seasons. Power 36, Value 6.0.
X/50 JL Crane (Goblin, Vampirebilt) put in a season and a half at the pro level. Power 18, Value 3.6.
XI/3 Blaine "Yo" Gobbo-ert* (Goblin, Missouri) is still an important cog on the team. Power 45, Value 4.5.
XII/12 Nathan Broussard (Blocker, Cal) died right out the gate. Power 7, Value 0.9.

BUFFALO
Buffalo is the anti-Atlanta, the place where good draft picks go to die. Two coaches have held the Buffalo franchise, with three teams. One of them, the jury is still out, but the other two teams have ranked among the worst disasters in the NBFL Draft era. Jeffro's Chaos, Buffalo Billy Goats Gruff saw two of the more epic draft flameouts before handing the reins to Burgun824 and his ill-starred Norse squad Buffalo Hillybillies, who retired after one season in favor of the new Wood Elf look, the Hillbillies.

*** Buffalo Billy Goats Gruff
Picks: 2
Draft Value: 1.1

IX/21 Zac "Big Mac" Zielinski (Warrior, U.Con.) threw some good hits over a short, brutal career. Power 13, Value 2.2.
X/2 Brian Schwinke (Warrior, Cal) was highly-touted leading up to the draft, but did nothing except die young. Given both his brief careers, Schwinke is a strong contender for the biggest draft bust yet. Power 5, Value 0.5.

*** Buffalo Hillybillies
Picks: 4
Draft Value: 3.0

XI Expansion/6 Cornelius "PmlMawBiscuit97" Bennett (Ulf, Hashut Bay) played an uneventful season. Power 22, Value 2.4.
XI/9 John "Oahu Rage" Fonoti (Berserker, Hawaii) did nothing and died young. Power 5, Value 0.6.
XI/33 Eric "Steller's Eider" Cunha (Runner, Oregon) took a bad lickin' but played through it. Power 24, Value 4.8.
XI/47 Monty Beisel Forkbeard (Lineman, Kalmar State) dropped some fouls and lived to tell about it. Power 20, Value 4.0.

*** Buffalo Hillbillies
Picks: 4 (*4 active)
Draft Value: 3.6
(and probably climbing, as these stats might be a game out of date)
XII Expansion/6 Chris McCullingtheherd* (Wardancer/Jacksonville) is off to a slow start. Power 21, Value 2.3.
XII/6 Justin "Pick'em up" Truck* (Wardancer/Notre Dame) is chugging alongside him. Power 25, Value 2.8.
XII/38 Billie the Bow* (Thrower, HSU) is chucking it to glory! Power 35, Value 7.0.
XII/42 Gyhard Grim* (Lineman, U.Con.) is doing his job, but his health is in decline already. Power 20, Value 4.0.

Wow!.. I had two of the top three die on my watch, eh?!? NICE!! Smile

Likely due to my penchant for agreeing to the apothecary's suggestion of just putting them down instead of dealing with a niggling injury...
