NEW LEAGUE STARTING!
All seats are currently taken.
The random draw will be held on IRC this coming Friday (25th)
Time: 8pm server time.
Place: #nsl IRC channel
When the half-year long Norscan winter sets in, and the fjords and lakes freeze, the mead really starts flowing up in Norsca. This is when the Norse turn to all their special types of (usually violent) entertainment, and when they'll often perform all sorts of insane feats to outdo their rivals. Needless to say, Blood Bowl is a hallowed sport in the Norscan lands.
One of the leagues up there, is the Norscan Survivalists League, where 24 chieftains of lesser significance compete to see who is the cunningest and can walk away with the title and massive bragging rights every Mid-Winter.
Introducing a new European league...
A concept from the Southern Wastes...
This is...
THE NORSCAN SURVIVALISTS LEAGUE
This is a 24 team league - with one team of each BB race.
Each team is owned by a Norscan chieftain, who "acquired" his players while raiding and pillaging on far away shores. You are hired by one of these chieftains, and put in charge of leading his (or indeed her) team to victory!
The chieftains choose their coaches however, and not the other way around. This means that upon joining the league you will be given a random race out of the 24 BB races.
Teams should be made to fit the general fluff of the league. More details to follow on the group page.
Each round lasts for 2 weeks, and games are expected to be played on evenings server time (European time zones).
The NSL is the European sister league and counterpart to the Southern Survivalists League (Australasian time zones), from where it got its rules and system. Cheers mates!
At the end of every season the champions of these two leagues will face off in a one-off game of utter glory.
CUSTOM RULES
This being Norsca, there are special Norscan traditions that is observed.
Most importantly perhaps, in accordance with Norscan religion, the best death, is a death in battle, so there will be no player retirements.
Also there are more lenient fouling rules, stunty boosts, cpomb nerfs, +STATS must be taken, and no star players are allowed.

LEAGUE STRUCTURE
When the season starts, all teams are randomly put in 4 regional divisions.
The winner of each division meet in a 4 team play off at the end of the season to determine the NSL Champions.
The NSL Champions will play the winner of the Southern Survivalists League (SSL) in a Super Bowl style game every season.

That makes us 8 coaches so far.
DustBunny is on the money, this concept is originating/borrowed/pillaged from the Southern Survivalists League.
Look out for the season-end super final between the winners of these two leagues!

As long as you are generally available to play roughly between 7-10pm server time, it should work out. so let's try that for one season and see how it goes! |
