Now that Expensive Mistakes rule has been implemented, what is the site's policy about journeymen?
Will FUMBBL's journeymen rule be still enforced by admins?
Considering that it's very unlikely to hoard huge amounts of gold now, I don't think coaches will exploit journeymen.

I think coaches will 'abuse' journeymen and any policy against it will be unenforceable.

Example:

I'm carrying 210 in the bank and have 3 Helf Lino Journeymen (210k to replace). The value of non loners compared to having cash to replace injured positionals/induce away the pain is nil. Unless having more than 11 players is very important to you for various reasons, it makes no sense to replace 70k linos unless you are at 290k and even then, using that on a babe is probably still better especially at low TV.

Also could you imagine an admin chiding a coach over having an excessive bank and 3 journeymen when 2 of his most expensive base cost players alone would wipe out over half the bank? And going over the 290k threshold introduces that possibility anyway?

Also, what happens to teams with 4+ journeymen? At what point does a coach get a nudge to spend that cash?

A journeyman is a sunk cost of attrition in this game given all the other available potential uses for cash available going forward after the journeyman arrives.

Replacing journeymen is good cash chasing bad.

I think that I will replace journeymen if my Treasury is higher than 290,000 before checking the Expensive Mistakes, assuming I don't have to replace positionals, of course.
Positionals have the priority.

And even then, you might spend 50k at 290k in treasury going into a match preemptively draining your treasury and then suffer a positional perm and replace and once again your journeyman lino's replacement goes to the bottom of the deck.

Right. So doesn't this 'fix' the 'exploit'?

I never understood the journeyman abuse in the first place.

But afaik it was deemed to give you an advantadge in saving up gold for a short-term/ next game disadvantadge.
The problem was that the advantadge of a huge treasury was not covered by the rules.

Today, saving cash is ruled through EM. So it is not a loophole to abuse (if it ever was abuse) anymore but a rules mechanism.

The journeyman site rule can be retired IMO.

I agree

BUT

If lets say you have 3 Jmen. At the end of the match you nominate all 3 Jmen who survived. One of them gets 5SPP.

You then hire him on the spot.

SO

You spend 70K for the HE lino who comes with 5SPP. That is a good purchase for the value.

If there is ever an edge case, you found it. Lot of things have to align right to deploy this.

The jman rule never made any sense and never solved any actual problem.

Now is the perfect time for the site to 'admit' the mistake and drop it.
