Because Team Strength does not exist in the LRB and the handicaps are designed to be used on TR (which is in the LRB) |

Although having said that I dont know many coaches who would complain if we used TS rather than TR to compute handicaps however it just is not how it is supposed to be done according to the LRB so we do them by TR |

because one is from the lrb, so we use it because the site is as lrb compliant as possible, and the other is a better system (you can see in the vault, that handicaps are done on what we would call TS) |

Also, you can do a search for many many similar threads regarding the virtues of TR and TS.
Just remember:
- Both are imperfect.
- Both are pretty good in most cases, however.
- You can argue about either one being better until the cows come home.
- Arguing about one being better makes you daft.
- TS is a decent approximation of your team's strength in the next match and is a FUMBBL league-specific stat.
- TR is a LRB mechanic to maintain your team's long term strength and approximate its general strength at any point.
To reply to the original poster, TS is a FUMBBL-specific stat and basing handicaps off of it would be roughly akin to basing them off your team's win percentage or something. It's just not the same. Basing it off TR helps keep long term balance by rewarding coaches who cycle in new players to keep a team whipped into shape and healthy. |

actually i'd like to not see TS displayed, since it won't reward you for good team management. |
