As newcomer to this great game, one question pops into mind immediately:
Where do I find other newbie coaches to play against
I now realize that there IS a reason why I don't have to wait around long in the IRC channels before some nice fellow, who has played just around 450 games with 3 times as many cripples, checks in and generously invites me to a game . By now, I am just about to retire my second team, due this friendly welcoming ...
I am sure that all of you guys have been through the hard startup times, but it would be nice to meet another coach who also forget to rise the fallen before making the first risky tackle in the turn, or who is also wondering why the opponents never run very close to the sidelines etc. You know, the old theory of motivating through succesfull experiences
Is there a group or a tournament for absolutely newbie coaches, I mean not JUST low rated teams but inexeperienced coaches ? I am thinking like a BB Kindergarten thing ?
Thx,

There is always #Fumbbl_Academy, where those experienced coaches play you, not to mangle your team, but to get you up to speed quicker. Other than that, there is a recently started group for coaches with CR 145 or lower. Just lose a couple of games now and you can aplpy there
As for a genuine newbie vs newbie environment, I would not know where to direct you for that. |

a good idea would be looking at the rating of the coach.
If he is 150 big fat chanches is that he is a newbie.
if he is over 150 big fat chanches he is a cherrypicker
if he is below 150 or he is a newcomer and has met a lot of cherrypickers or he has an unbelievable jinx. |

Follow Cloggy´s hint and join the Fumbbl Academy... as far as I know they are playing unranked teams, so there is no impact on coach rating for both teams. So you won´t meet Cherrypickers there. It will help you learning the game very fast. |

Follow Ironik's advice and look at the opponent Coach Ranking. Try to play under 145. for finding newcommers, look at their bios. |

yah - join the academy- If you have the possibility try to get som tabletop games in - rolling the dice yourself, calculating the targets manually really helps you get into the core mechanics of the game. |

hey man, cheer up. Do not intentionally aim at that! Personally I´d prefer to go the academy. |

Hop in at #fumbbl_academy, that's the best thing to do. Sure, you could have some games against other newbies, and win now and then. But you won't learn as much, or as quickly.

I'm a newbie myself, and I suggest:
1.- Spectate games by good coaches.
2.- Stick to one race and learn its way.
3.- Get familiar with all rules (all skills included)
4.- Play for fun and be patient*
5.- Read the forums (beware, much crap included)
Have fun!
