Well, my first post, and i'll kick off with some questions:
1. I recently saw someone who had his NICKNAME in JBB's chat window, rather than BLUE/RED. How didi he do that?
2. The FUMBBL server gives me an "options changed to match the server" message now and then, what options do I have to check in JBB's options dialoge?
As to how to edit the Options.NFO, right click it and select "open with: Editor"
All of this should propably be in a "modding FAQ" sticky topic which i'm planing to create. |

1) Open the options.nfo with notepad and type in the following
spectatorname=BigMac, then save it!
2) No idea, its not very important as you set to FUMBBL options once you start, its probably something to do with the options button when you start the game, check that they are all correct |

BBM hasn't been around for over a year.
1. Brownrob has it right. Just make sure you use something like Notepad, Simpletext, Textedit, VI, emacs, whatever... Just not Word. You need to save it as a plain ascii .txt file with none of the crappy special characters that Word puts in there.
{ edit: Ignore this. My bad. See BigMac's note below. }
2. You can easily check by looking at a roster and either right-click or (do whatever your browser makes you do) to "View source." Take a look at the 3rd line:
Code: | <!-- JavaBBowl Options: +LRB -semi -final +EXPOFAB -ot --> |
It is a HTML comment and (as noted in JBB's README file) it's something that doesn't display on screen, but JBB reads it and uses it to force certain options. In this case, set your options to "LRB" and then check "Experimental OFAB." Also make sure that "final," "ot" and "semifinal" are all unchecked.
Now for a little secret... I'm not really the repository of all knowledge. The readme file is. It's all in there, if slightly difficult to find because it's all in the order in which it was implemented.
{ edit: because I'm not the repository of Al knowledge, either. } |

*EDIT*
Question:
How do i get rid of the "options changed to match the server" message?
Answer:
In JBB 8.3 go to "Options", "LRB Options"
Select "LRB 2004"
Uncheck "LRB OFAB" |

Lordsnotball: That's most likely the client repeating the last thing set or connection lag etc. causing it to appear too late, it's nothing like an auto-message. |
