The Harvest Vs Pyroclastic Redux
Woop! Very first game of the SLUMBBL Cup.
Ok sports fans, here is a pop quiz for you. If you are a slow moving av9 player, what do you not want your opponent to have spades of? Claw? Give that goblin a Orca-Cola!
A very fun game with a bloody first half. Malal smiled upon his disciples and they paid tribute through arranging pretty piles of previously animate rocks upon the field. Helmut excelled himself in removing chaos spawn in return, until one of them took his chainsaw off him and beat him into unconsciousness with the wrong end of the thing.
Good luck to Quarion in the rest of the cup! My battered players will be cheering from the lines! |

Touch Not the Cat vs. Velvet
7 TDs scored, and a couple of deaths... shame some specs disappeared towards the end- it probably didn't end how you thought it would. It certainly didn't go how I thought it would |

Americans vs Ecstasy of Pain
Round one: The Americans and Ecstasy packed extra punch and inflicted more CAS than KOs. Despite being down to 6 players vs a full Bretonnia team, the Slaanesh managed to give us a run for our money and had a chance to win it. Unfortunately, overtime came knocking, the Americans outnumbered the Slaanesh and received the ball via touchback. Into the hands of our main runner and easy jog to the EZ on turn 2. |

Yeah, we basically lost the numbers game. The Slaanesh had a good first half and stalled out their drive to make it 1-0 at half time. However, by early second half two babes weren't enough to keep our players on the pitch and we were down to only 6. The Slaanesh fought valiantly into overtime, but ultimately it wasn't to be their game.
Good game Arktoris and best of luck to your team! |

Hi Coaches,

The deadline for third round games is midnight Monday 24th October.
Please complete your games as soon as possible. Plan to make use of the weekend where necessary.
Don't forget to post match reports, boasting, bragging, whinging, whining, sledging and trash talking to the forum thread.
Good luck in the next round. If you didn't make it through look out for the next set of Brawls.

Zoat vs Sea Elf
https://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=3843885
The Sea Elves received the ball in first half, half way in the Zoats were able to partially surround the ball carrier. Double snakes caused a turnover in Turn 5. Basically, the Zoats needed to pick up the ball in either turn 6 or turn 7 to score (both times used RR), or get a POW (out of 3 2d blocks) and a pickup in turn 8 to score - none of which happened.
The Zoats received in second half, couldn't pick up the ball in turns 1 and 2 (both used RR), allowing Sea Elves to apply lots of pressure. Zoats appeared to be out of danger in turn 5 as they were able to move the ball 4 squares across midfield, with most of the Elf team down or well back across the other side of the field and seemingly plenty of protection. Was starting to feel the glow of (1-0)! The masterful elf coach spotted a minor flaw in the protection (the final Zoat from the previous turn probably moved 1 sq (bridge) too far. Somehow (I don't play elves so still not sure how) the Elf coach was able to knock the ball loose, dodge several times to get a man downfield, dodge and pick up the ball in traffic, dodge and complete a pass downfield, and dodge again to provide some protection. Now the glow felt much more like (0-1) - in a single turn, how? Luckily a Wizard took down the ballc, and a free for all ensued the final 3 turns and somehow the ball stayed out of the EZ.
In overtime (no RR's on either side), the Zoats received (they caught the kickoff and were spared the agony of a pickup attempt) and by turn 5 had grinded it across midfield, and although the defense was stingy, was feeling pretty decent about it - there was lots of contact across the LOS and the ballc was very safe each turn - the pressure seemed to be on the defense now. Double skulls in turn 6 and beginning of turn 7 stalled the drive, overtime ending with no score for either team. Shootout favoring the Sea Elves.
Summary:
=======
A close, fun game between very evenly matched teams.
Based on this one game, seems that Sea Elves put up a strong defense, with enough offense to get the job done. (but what do I know about elves?) |
