Hello, please, is it possible to know the meaning of the abbreviations on top of Coach Rating page: https://fumbbl.com/p/coaches?start=0 ?
r' = ?
RD' = Rating Deviation, I guess
σ' = ?
CR = current CR
I'm not sure about r', RD' and σ'. |

There's a link to a description on the header of the coaches page (question mark, next to Ranking). It doesn't fully explain the system, but contains the implementation details and a reference to the original paper that describes the system.
It's not light reading by any means, but all the variables are explained in detail through there.
The σ' is what the Glicko paper calls "volatility", which is related to standard deviation, but not exactly the same. |

Hi gentlemen,
I probably missed something....
Here's my Amazons' black box rating: 7/1/1 // WR : 83% // CR...... 1499 (!)
I guess 1500 is the starting calculation basis, so.... is it a bug? or is the CR calculation über-punishing?
Thanks in advance for your answer(s)! |

The rating starts at 1500, but the rating deviation gets subtracted from it. This starts at 150, so starting CR is 1350. Think this is alright as I understand it. |

Thanks for the input, Rawlf.
Your guess about the deviation rate makes sense. |

Anyway, I find it quite punishing.
For example, my last game, VS Jinamero82
https://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=4430822
I won 1-0.
I got +9 (cool!), and my opponent lost... 17 points. A tough drop, despite our quite close CRs (1748 vs 1787).
Imagine a loss (or even a draw) against a vet' - hours of victories in the Box destroyed in one single devastating game... |

Or you know what you are doing. Smallmaning works much better in box than in open. But you know that. |
