Revenge of BOB 0 - 2 Dead Men Don't Block
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1601558

This was a bashy, slow-moving game - what do you expect between Khemeri and Orcs that only have 1 gobbo? The game started with the Orcs taking an early lead in the bashing, KO'ing a mummy and a skeleton. But then Flinger failed his Really Stupid roll on 4 successive turns (he even managed to roll 1's when no one was assisting him), and things went south for the Orcs. Soon the Dead Men bashed most of the orcish team off the field. The rest of the game saw the Khemeri slowly and deliberately moving the ball around, keeping the orcs on the ground and scoring on their last turn in each half.

Dis time Ghob is go*** GHOB! get back to practice...

Sorry about that... The game against the Khemri team Dead Men Don't Block Was Just as hard as we expected, and even though it started pretty well, the khemri teams blatant disregard for AV9, soon settled the game. The 2-0 win for the khemri was fully deserved, and we never even got near their end zone.
This is naturally not satisfactory, and i promise that we will work hard in training for the next game... "Flinger! Stop trying to eat Ghob"... sorry, The team needs a much more focused attitude towards the game, and thats somthing we will work on.

We Hate Wights 4 - Da Urty Boyz 0

Da Urty Boyz hired nobbla (as they should!) and were poised to bring the pain. My team started with 1 rr due to a handicap but won the coin toss, and chose to receive in hopes of getting rid of the dreaded chainsaw. A deep kick delayed my 2 turn touchdown plan to remove nobbla, but I just fed the chainsaw a steady diet of zombies until he tripped and BH himself out of the game after successfully staying onto the 2nd drive. Besides a failed armor roll against a mummy and 2 zombie KOs nobbla did nothing but burn a reroll.

The buzzing troll managed to KO my MA8 Ghoul but otherwise the goblins couldn't do anything right. This wasn't helped by the fact that my opponent didn't make a single KO recovery roll after the end of the first half, and was down to 2 players for the last 2 drives....and I got 2 Blitzes.

Yikes. Never a more one-sided match, but thanks again nexusvalhalees for being a really good sport throughout...I would have whined a lot more Wink

We Hate Wights 2 - 2 Dead Men Don't Block
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1601949

In another game of hot mummy-on-mummy action, bloody carnage ensued on the field. Or at least, it would have been bloody if any of the players on the field had blood left in their bodies to spill. With the CAS count at 3/3/1 to 2/1/0, the field was littered with the tattered remains of the undead. With no Apothecaries available, and only the BH injuries regenerating, We Hate Wights were left with 3 niggles and a death, while Dead Men Don't Block suffered a niggled mummy.

In each half, the Khemeri scored a touchdown by methodically marching down the field, bashing the Undead out of the way, and We Hate Wights matched them with a quick and agile ghoul score. The Khemeri were almost able to score an extra TD at the end of the first half, but Renseneb the Rangy dropped the ball on an accurate pass (even after using the team's last re-roll on the catch attempt). Such is un-life when Khemeri attempt to pass.

Interestingly, despite scoring 2 TDs and 7 CAS, Dead Men Don't Block didn't get a single skill roll after the game.

Horn 0 - 0 Dead Men Don't Block
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1603490

The match started with 11 Horn players on the field...but on the opening kickoff, the Dead Men's fans got the ref (some black magic we believe), and so the opening half was bloody...apothecary failed as well and no one ever woke from KOs for the game either.

First half saw the Horn trying for the endzone...needed 1 gfi to score....tripped! Then, another chance...needed 2 gfi to score...and again a trip!

The second half was less bloody, and it seems obvious that the Dead Men would score - they were in such control they even tossed the ball around a bit to a skeleton. Then all the sudden, the 6 remaining Horn players - all on their backs and all marked by Dead Men and without a RR, caught fire - dodging around like mad and gfi as well and suddenly the ball carrier was flat on its back and the ball was in Horn hands again! There was no chance for the Horn to score...but at least they denied the Dead Men the score and preserved the tie!

Thanks for the game!

Dead Men Don't Block 3 - 0 Da Urty Boyz
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1604727

In perhaps the most one-sided game in NBL history, the mummies of Dead Men Don't Block cleared the field of goblin players and moved the ball into the end zone for a touchdown. Then they did it again (in 2 turns with a passing completion, even!). And then they did it for a third time.

By the time the dust settled, the Khemeri had registered 8 CAS, 3 TDs, and an impressive 2 CP while niggling both Trolls into retirement and killing the highest SPP goblin on the team. On the other side, Da Urty Boyz did manage to throw 9 blocks, foul twice, and get an MVP on a surviving player...

We Hate Wights 1 - Revenge of BOB 1

A highly frustrating match, taking to the pitch with only 1 mummy, a ghoul was able to score quickly and hold off the Orcs for most of the game, but eventually we were overwhelmed by a solid wave of green AV9 and the game was tied up. A 2 game tying streak has left the team dispirited but still hoping to win this tournament.

We Hate Wights 2 - 1 AC Loren NBL

An interesting match - again the team took to the pitch with 1 mummy. Lots of bashing and relatively quick touchdowns considering the brutal defenses both sides put up. In the 1st half a ghoul ran down the side and blitzed past a Catcher for a touchdown. In the 2nd half the mummy got completely sidetracked to the wrong side of the pitch, where he rested under the shade of the Wood Elf Treeman for a few turns, unable to get up from his Bonehead (my opponent's handicap). Finally when the wood elf defense got too tough, a ghoul made a break for it with the ball and ran all the way to the top of the field. Although the ghoul was knocked down, he was supported by a few players that made their way past the pools of elf blood soaking in the grass, and the mummy even sprinted down the field, getting ready to defend if necessary. In a risky move I handed the ball off to the mummy who caught it, and then waltzed his way in for the winning touchdown! Exciting game and no horrible injuries for either team.

Dead Men Don't Block 1 - 0 Accretion
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1609601

The Khemri of Dead Men Don't Block continue to chase down the leaders in the tournament, pulling to a mere 6 points out of the lead with a 10-point win here. However, the game almost went the other way. Accretion took the opening kickoff, and danced around with their skinks while the sauruses and mummies bashed it up at midfield. But the effectiveness of the Khemri skeletons at blitzing the skinks eventually took it's toll. As the Lizardmen players were forced off the field, the ball eventually found its way into the hands of a Thro-Ra who advanced it towards the endzone. But last-minute heroics enabled the skinks to steal the ball back near their own goal-line and prevent a Khemri touchdown, leaving the game nil-all at the half.

The second half saw the Khemri unable to pick up the ball, but highly successful at removing the lizards from the pitch. Down to a mere 4 players left, with both their remaining Sauruses being pinned to the ground by mummies, Accretion skink "Smaller" (+AG with the Iron Man handicap) took the game into his own hands. Single-handedly blitzing the ball free, he grabbed it and rand for the end zone. Powerless to stop his agile dodging and unable to wipe him off the pitch, the Khemri's only defense was Userkaf the Unclumsy, a +MA thro-ra with the vital Strip Ball. After several turn of dodging past both thro-ra's, a mummy with tackle, and a skeleton, Smaller managed to advance the ball to within 4 squares of DMDB's end zone. But just when it seemed he would score for the improbable win, his luck ran out and he tripped while dodging. As it was, he managed to delay the Khemri long enough that they only barely managed to score the winning touchdown before the end of the half.

Dead Men Don't Block 2 - 0 Blockless Mayhem
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1610511

Dead Men Don't Block have a plan, and they stick to it well. The plan is simple: wipe the opponent off the field, and hope one of the Thro-Ras can actually pick up the ball and make it to the endzone before time expires.

The game opened with Blockless Mayhem taking the opening kickoff and driving hard down the left sideline. But a wave of mummies crashed into them from the center of the field, pushing most of their efforts to - and off - the edge of the sideline. Of course, thanks to Khemri ballhandling ineptitude, the ball was also pushed off the edge of the pitch, and ended up being thrown back in to the end zone. However, a Thro-ra was (eventually, after several tries) able to pick up the ball there for the TD. The second half opened with the Khemri fans getting the ref, whereupon their DP went to work, mercilessly fouling their way to the end zone. By the time the dust settled, the cas count stood at 6/0/1 to 0/0/0... But with the RIP successfully apo'ed, no permanent harm was done.

Tournament Leaders Update:
After maxing out their points in another game, the mummies of Dead Men Don't Block have overtaken Clohesy Clovers for second place in the Quintus tournament, and now trail We Hate Wights for the lead by a mere 4 points. It's coming down to the last few games for the top 3 teams, but We Hate Wights are the clear favorite to bring princevaliant his 3rd NBL rookie title in 5 tries. His team not only holds the current points lead, but he has played one fewer game than the other two leaders - including not having played against Clohesy.

After the game, my +MA, Stip Ball Thro-Ra rolled +AG. Becoming the blessed 6-3-3-7 Sure Hands ball-handler all Khemri teams dream of. Unfortunately, he also aged and niggled. As kennethcole said, "nuffle giveth and nuffle taketh away in the same roll".

Incontrovertible proof that CAS were overvalued in the old scoring system:
Khemri are now in the lead of the Quintus tournament.

Of course, that will only hold until PV plays his next game with <i>We Hate Wights</i>, at which point he will most likely lock up his third rookie tournament victory in 5 tries.

Dead Men Don't Block 1 - 1 AC Loren NBL
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1622010

In this mismatch of powerful Khemri (162 TS) against battered Wood Elves (104 TS), Dead Men Don't Block tried their usual strategy of clearing the field of opposing players. But the agile elves dipped, danced, and dodged around, keeping the ball out of Khemri hands for the entire first half, scoring on a desperate run right at the end. In the second half, the Khemri of Dead Men steamrolled AC Loren for a quick equalizing score... Ok, it took 4 turns, but that's lightning-fast by Khemri standards. Kicking to the now-depleted elven team, the Khemri bashed their way forwards to get the ball, wiping their opponents down to a mere 3 players left on the pitch. But they ran out of time as thro-ra Amenamenhat the Almost Agile was unable to complete a pass for an easy TD.

The game featured a wide variety of luck on both sides, with numerous AC Loren players KO'ing themselves on trips and Dead Men skeleton Setnakhte destroying himsel (RIP, no regen) on a 2d block where he double-skulled.

Dead Men Don't Block 2 - 2 Von Fonsteins
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1624903

Dead Men Don't Block rounded out their tour of the Quintus tournament with this hard-fought draw against Von Fonsteins. The agile and strong vampires were able to dance around the Khemri throughout the first half, finally scoring on Turn 7. But the skeletons of Dead Men responded with a wave of going for it after the ensuing kickoff, managing to score at the end of the half by virtue of Nuffle and somehow not tripping. In the second half, a Blitz saw Von Fonsteins score on their first turn. The Khemri got the ball back, but a blitzing vampire knocked it loose and removed the only Thro-ra ballhandler from the field. But the might of the Khemri finally started working, and the mummies managed to clear enough of the pitch for the skeletons to dash into the end zone for another last-second TD, with help from even more going for it.

Edit: nevermind. There's been a danny3115 sighting, looks like Dead Men might have one game left in Quintus after all!

Horn 3 - 2 AC Loren NBL
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1625060

An exciting match with the Wood Elves against the Chaos. Horn took the ball the length of the field to start the game smacking around the elves for a 1-0 lead. However, the elves displayes some of their skill as they raced downfield...tripping on a gfi just a few spaces from the endzone. Instead of playing defensively, Horn tried a pickup - pass - handoff - TD play with no RR...if failed immediately and the elves scored to go into halftime 1-1. The second half the elves were receiving and went up 2-1 fairly quickly. Now the question was if the Chaos would be able to tie it or not...a failure with ballhandling deep in their end, drew the elves towards the ball...then Caw (AG 4 chaos warrier) stepped away from the pressure and tossed a short pass (5 spaces) and the offense was in gear and the T14, the chaos tied it 2-2. With 2 turns left for each side, the odds of the elves winning were high. However they failed to pick up the ball (had sure hands) - and the chaos pressed forward, but tripped on gfi so they could not apply pressure to the ball...then on T16, the elves failed AGAIN! Four 1s in a row for the elves...a blitz and then a beastman picked up the ball and 2 gfi in for the TD - and with 2 TDs in 3 turns, the chaos end up with a surprising win 3-2.

Thanks for the game!

Horn 1 - 1 Black Orc Dragons
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1625194

A fun game. The Orcs came to play and the combination of excellent blocks and a few well placed fouls - Horn spent the entire game undermanned. The first half though ended in a 0-0 tie. The second half, Horn took the ball downfield and scored. Then with 4 turns, the Orcs drove down. An excellent opportunity to knock down the ball carrier was missed by failing 2 of 3 gfi rolls and the result was predictable as the orcs surged forward and scored on T16.

An excellent and fun game. Thanks!
