TS is excellent for determining how "hard" a game will be. It has a huge advantage over CR in that the benchmark can bet set and needs no changing according to team or coach.

I'm definately in favour of making TS differences count towards points. Something like: add the TS difference divided by 4 to the points total for a game would seem like its about right. Otherwise a simple +5 points for playing against a stronger team could work.

For those who don't know (i.e. nearly everyone) I started a team for this season but didn't apply to the group before playing any games so I couldn't join. I figured that it dosent really matter since I can do all the scoring manually and if I play in spirit it is pretty much the same as being a member of the group. Anyway...

I was motivated by seeing a particular ELF coach do the Synnful Sprint but with some TS differences that I considered distasteful, not serious but not challenging looking. I had a brief argument with Synn about whether it was good or not with no real conclusion other than that I should try out the sprint and ELF for myself (my conclusion, he didn't say that).

Dead But Don't Know It have been fighting the Synnful Sprint and what I've now discovered is the Mad Trial (I assume that this means no games played vs a lower TS, not just no games reported vs a lower TS) for what would seem to be a Silly Combination. So, the results:

Cat A = 63 *2
vs Chaos Dwarfs = 35 points (concession)
vs Khemri = 28
Cat B = 63
vs Ogre =35
vs Chaos =28
Cat C = 56
vs Human = 21
vs Nurgle = 35
Cat D = 0
no elves yet, only 14 games of sprint played
Cat E = 58
vs Lizard = 37
vs Necro = 21

Total =303

Is that good?

Hey pizzamogul. Since you posted the final score, you probably noticed the argument in the thread about ELF not filling its design purpose. Sorry to see that you didn't post your opinion on that. Sad I would really appreciate to hear it, even if it's just "don't care, more playing, less whining". Thx again for running a great group.

I like Nins suggestions they have nice balance especially the tournament bonus for winning
but i think sillysod's TS difference divided by 4 system is seems best as if we set a level(s) on ts certain people will just play within them where this nicely works for all and is more accurate

I do love this group thx for all the work pizzamogul

nice work on running ELF- looking forward to giving it a go with a rookie elf team next season!

Having read through this I totally agree about giving bonus points for challenging up in TS, and also an increase in the bonus for tournament games is in order (since matchups are random - a proper challenge!)

Now that this season is over, I'm thinking about the possibility of making some modifications. In order to make any changes, I will need to have Rijssiej alter the scoring program (and I don't know if he has the time/desire to do so) or go back to a manual scoring thread. I'll post a new thread specifically for the discussion/debate in a few days when I'm done brainstorming.

Was talking to Rijssiej on IRC - he's sent me the source to the score calculator. I'll see if I am able to tweak it this weekend. Start thinking about what changes you might want to try in the new season and we can run them on the last season's results and see what differences they would make

My guess is that Synnful Sprinting Spirits will go down in the score a bit, if not the ranking.

It's basically: Play your elf team (old or new doesn't matter) vs a variety of opponents (including nasty dwarveses) and see how you do.

Ie the opposite of elfballing where you only play non-bashy teams to keep your preciouss elveses safe(ish)
