So we arrived at the dark halls of Skavenblight and we are waiting for the first teams to arrive... so far we cant see any strangers... but some skaventeams are allready here and try to get some good refs while bribing and performing some rituals we dont want to see ever again....
Flachpfeifens 4th try will be here and try to get a ticket for the main draw... they arent that strong as we have seen them before... but overall they brought some gold and warpstones along... let's see what it was good for...
Rumors are spreading along the streets... some are telling we will see the lottery back in place... some telling we will see some new devolpments in the tourney structure... some say we shall have even more randomness than ever seen before ... oh be aware of warpstone covered meals or mixed drinks... the might bring you back to the emporer...

so... back in buisness
we heard conformations about some rumors and as you can see one the photos taken lottery is back and we saw some machanicals doing some test runs... seems everything is in place... we will see the "king of the ..." what was the word? *mumbbling* montain... top... HILL! format... yeah... well its pretty nasty for any predictions, but as we asked the grey seer called "purplerat " just the winner of a group will be mixed up for 2nd round and not as some hope and some (for instance me) the whole tourney so it might be easier to do so.... but we will see...
oh and be aware of the creapy rats... more than 8 teams in a group .. oh life is that cruel.... nasty rats... kill them a... "oh, hi son of a vermin" *waves to a nasty bunch of rats walking by* ... well ... 5 days to go.... support your team.

Milford reporting from the Warpstone Open V
Well Fumbbl fans Milford is back from his winter break in Kislev to get us ready for the opening Major of the 2010 Season.
The swamps around Skavenblight are starting to fill up as the fans from all over the old world are drawn to the Warpstone Open. A lot of prep matches have allready taken place and some teams have allready had their hopes dashed before the main draw. This years format has lead to a lot of speculation on what da hell is actually going to happen. IMO Lord Purplechest needs to stop talking to the skaven blood bowl commitee, they keep giving him weird ideas and he impliments them! Remember the fiasco of the draw last year. I think Fumbbl is still in court over all the law suits from last years lottery rumble. But we will wait and see what the rules for the draw will be and hope for the best.

Well Fumbbl fans what a day! The Warpstone Lottery was held two days ago to much anticipation. The place was packed with the representatives of all the teams in the lottery and a bunch of spectators to watch the events unfold. The room was a buzz and I saw some coaches with all their "lucky" charms and praying for a miracle. The event was kicked off by the grey seer in charge of all Blood Bowl in the Skaven realms giving us a speech that no one one hand had any clue what he was saying, looking back on it we should have realized something was up!
The first lottery winner was picked and it was the Extraordinary Brotherhood and then the Innocent Felons and then the Ultimate Mr. men as the first teams were picked they were all the qulaifier winners, the room started to buzz at this. That was when I knew something was up. Only 9 of the qulaifier finalist were drawn and then teams that were bumped started to get named. Once that started the place went into anarchy. For over 3 hours coaches were screaming and crying. Punches were thrown and a few fouls were commited. The place broke down into one massive melle of outrage. Immediatly the Fumbbl forums were filled with fire and brimstone, the sides were taken, the personeal attacks commenced. A 100% forum fire storm was started and the server needed extra protection from the level of verbal violence that broke out. The Founder, Lord Christer, had to call in the services of the College of Magic to put protective spells on the server to ward off the violent tempest of verbal assaults. It was touch and go as Lord Christer watched the core temp. of the servers climb by the minute. A Dwarf engineer was hired to help out and he steped in and put extra runes on the servers mother board, Lord Chirster did not like that one bit, but desperate times call for desperate measures. In the end the Server some how survived the initial onslaught but its still a little touchey as spikes of pure rage still rampage the server.
Back at the scene of the Lottery the room was cleared out as Purple Chest attempted to restore calm in the room. It took 4 hours to finally restore order and a detachment of storm vermin were called in to disperse the crowd and end the viloence. The Lottery room was strewn with corpses and the wounded. In the end there were 278 BH's 142 SI-MNG 118 SI-Niggles and 78 Kills. Two of the kills cannot be confirmed at the moment because they seem to be regening in the morgue.
Purple Chest and the Fumbbl commitee retired into the back room with the Grey Seer and the Warpstone Open competition commitee. After 2 hours of heated discussion, three of Purple Chests advisors were killed in an argument and the Grey Seer sent them to the after life, Purple Chest took the podium. After 15 minutes of apologies the descision was made that the draw would stand and the tournament would continue with no more discussions. Well that started another round of Violence and general anarchy. Once again the wholle thing started up again. As I write this there is still some level of violence going on but it has been contained to the surface as the various factions are still battling it out. One report that I have heard was that 8 teams were battling it out and a sensiable dwarf stoped the action for 5 minutes and thought they should have their own Warpstone Open Main draw on the surface and settle it like "true" Blood Bowlers". The various sides thought about it for 2 minutes and then he was decapitated by a frenzy Norse Blitzer and the fight was back on.
Yesterday I received the full story about the lottery and here are the highlights of that press confrence. The confusion started when it turned out that Purple Chest actually was not in charge of the Lottery, the Skaven Warpstone Open Competition commitee was. Well Purple Chest did not realize, or did not read the numerous PM's leading up to the Open, that in the Skaven Tradition the lottery was to be done. Which means the Lottery traditonally has the winners names for the qualifiers drawn first, a honor that is bestowed on them. THEN the luckers would be drawn. Well in every other corner of the old world this formality is never given and has never been done. So a misunderstanding of culture was at the core of the meltdown.
PurpleChest once again offered apologies and humbly took the blame, some people claim he is taking the blame for politcal reasons. There were rumors that the Skaven council over Blood Bowl would withdraw from Fumbbl if he did not fall on the sword and take full blame for his actions in this CF.
Well I have to say this was a lot more fun that the traditional lottery and man was there some serious action in the post draw brawl. I spotted a few journeymen that could seriously beef up any teams DP slots. Need to keep an eye out for some of those fellows.

I can confirm that the skaven teams are coming out of the wood work for this years Open and it should be interesting to see how many actually make it into the tourney. So if you love Gutter Runners this is the major for you. I see that the over/under on Gutter runner deaths in the qualifiers is set at 47. SO if you are a betting man there is a number for you to contemplate.
Just wandering around the sights I see some regulars have allready arrived. One of the sights of the tourney can be found at the compound that the Blood Sea Buccaneers have set up. It is a lavish set up with 5 pavillions for the fans to enjoy and a small practice field set up out back. The Bucaneers also have the Booty Pirates as guests in the compound who will also be playing in the WO. Owner JJ Jones Jr has invited all the human teams to join them at the compound. Strength in numbers is allways a good thing when stuck in the middle of a swamp infested with skaven.
With the new king of the hill format there is going to be a lot of down time so the Buccaneers and Booty pirates will be hosting autograph signings, parties, a Karoake night every Thursday and also the "stars" of the Human teams will be making apperances from time to time for some meet and greet sessions. So come on out and see Griff, Zug, the Count and others in person!
Humanity is the on the rise Fumbbl fans! will this be the Major that humanity will finally prevail?
I also saw the Fleetfoot revenge stumble into the camps and they look in form. They are hungry for revenge and should be a tough out this tourney. I feel for the team that gets them in the opening round. It could get bloody and ugly really fast for that team.
Before I left for the Open I talked to coach Arktoris and he told me he was leaving in a few days with the Hellbound Charioteers headed for the Open. Well I have grim news Fumbbl fans. As the Hellbound was passing through Red Peak pass they were ambushed by a Horde of chaos mutants. The carnage was glorious, bloody, titanic, epic but in the end the Hellbound numbers were depleted to the point of no return. They stumbled into the camp last night with only 7 players, a bunch of Niggles but bags full of trophies from their conquest. Coach Arktoris was all smiles though. "The carnage was most satisfying! Iam a little bummed that we will miss the Open but we play for GLORY not trophies and I assure you that battle in the pass was more statisfying than any win on the pitch. To bad only the one mutant we let get away witnessed that glorious battle."
Well the draw is very close Fumbbl fans so lets get ready to see how the main draw shakes out and start handicaping the front runners. |

The messenger arrived, trembling, to deliver the news: the Legion of Orgrimmar would be unable to attend this year's Warpstone Open, having run into a massive pile of casualty dice in one of their final prep games that cost them some key players. The messenger went on to mention that Titans With Style was being tapped to replace them. Team captain Fleen the Mighty's bloodshot eyes widened, and he broke out in a wide, toothy grin.
"Weez in boyz! We getz ta kruch up sum ratz!"
Overlooking the fact that races other than skaven would be attending, Fleen and his compatriots packed up their best rat-improving condiments and headed off for Skavenblight and the warpstone fields of glory.
The messenger cleared his throat nervously and held out his hand - coach maysrill, being a cheap old git, had sent the message COD.

Today The Boys landed and sett upp their tents in Blood Sea Buccaneers compund. Hard training and alof of magic has prepared The Boys well for the bloodfeast of the Warpsone Open. By taking a few loans from the usual sharks that gather around theses events The Boys will see their strenghts improved with alot of stars and wizards in the games to come. |

The Woodhead Wanderers were recently found roaming about the swamps near Skavenblight after they had asked a skaven passerby for the way to the bloodbowl stadium. Now that they made it there in time, they are looking forward to playing their first Ranked-tournament ever. Well, they did apply for last years TR200 minor, but that one never took place! Maybe the reasons for that strange little incident can best be investigated here in Skavenblight?
Anyway, coach Rawlf would have loved to bring 16 healthy woodelf players of course, but a skaven 'tournament staff official' informed him that only 14 would be allowed this year. Sadly it is too late now for a legal protest about this misinformation, especially since said 'official' is nowhere to be found! Although rumor has it that he was seen selling rocks and get-the-ref equipment nearby the stadium...
Being this naive, how are these elves supposed to even make it to the second round? |

Imperial scouts have sighted an unusual convoy on the OW Underway 66 heading towards Tilea. The convoy allegedly consists of more than 20 troopcarriers full of fans, half a dozen container lorries with Bugman's to sustain them and several deathrollers, all of them accompanying the 3-time SMACK winners World's Edge Deathrollers to the Warpstone Open. According to Wissenland officials, local underway patrols have reported one confirmed "minor caving-in incident" due to malfunctioning deathrollers so far.
Leading FUMBBL pundits, however, expressed serious doubts whether the Grey Seer and the Warpstone Open competition commitee would even remotely consider the Deathrollers' application for a Warpstone Open qualifier slot as the team would appear to not meet standard requirements for participation. |

Or so our reporters tell us. Among many Druchii teams confirmed to enter the Warpstone Open are the Voluptuous Venomous Vixens. A fledgeling all-female team, reminiscent of the Deadly Nightshades witch elves that made such an amazing appearance in the 2490 Blood Bowl!
They're sporting a sound even-skilled lineup, including a very promising young witch elf Korianna
Sceptics point out that their lineup isn't the best around and predict that they won't reach qualifier round 2 by any means. Can they exceed expectations?
We asked team captain Maldarnes aptly nicknamed 'Warheart', if the team has prepared a diffrent strategy for the WO (rather than the usual bloodlust and lack of focus on the ball that lead the teams positive casualty statistics in 20 games). Her reply was, and I quote:
