Ah but the way our group explained the fluff:
The interception roll is first. If you succeed at an interception, the next roll is not required. However, you CAN still roll the pass dice. If the pass succeeds, the interceptor intercepted a superb pass - kudos to him! If the pass misses, then the interceptor dived to the side but still caught the thing! Sweet!
And finally:
If the pass fumbles, then the passer does not actually fumble the ball. Instead, he smoothly, carefully, and beautifully, throws a perfect pass to the interceptor. The interceptor literally stands there mouth agape as the ball lands in his hands; such a beautiful throw is it, that the interceptor doesn't even have to stretch out his arms or turn his hands. He simply stands and the ball gracefully slides into his waiting grasp.
In this case, the passer will never again throw such a perfect pass. However, hopefully next time, he'll attempt a pass to his own teammate, and get lucky enough to match his wonderful pass to the interceptor. |
