Against: Expensive and weak.
For: MA7, Leader.

I tend to have none, at least until the team gets to reasonably high TV (where it never stays for long, hence just none).

I use one, useful for picking up the ball, sure hands on a blitzer never seems worth it for me.

0 or 1. There are 2 basic builds in my playbook. Either start with 4 blitzers and 1 runner, or 3 blitzers, and 1 witch. The latter is more popular, so you see few runners around, although I have a legitimate legend candidate even without leader skill. (https://fumbbl.com/p/player?player_id=7971134) May not be optimal to have a runner, but this example at least demonstrates that it could be cool if you really wanted to have one.

I've enjoyed having at least 1 thanks to skills to pay the bills. The MA 7 is nice and if one of them ever retrieves the ball on defense, it can be kind of hard to get back provided he has an outlet.

Probably retriever is the best role for him. Of course it is against the rule of 5, as you want blitzers and witches. (Unless you are ready to expose blitzers too.)

Also as has been pointed out, the leader savings arent there to really justify it - elven rerolls are 50k.

One; dodge, sure hands, block, sidestep in that order, extra ma7 is very nice.

I waffle between 1 and 0, but am leaning toward 0 atm.

The Rule of 5 thing is a pain, so he's a mixed blessing on defensive. Plus it takes that much more to skill them up when you already have so many other positionals who cry out for spp.

The whole Dump-Off thing is, I believe, a trap, at least if you try for it too early. As OverH says above, Pass/NoS/etc. are not the skill path he really needs - if you do go that way then you ignore/delay Blodge, and he is too fragile to survive after he does his job more than a few times.

(Dodge, Block, Sure Hands (depending on environment), then Pass (for the RR to avoid a Dump-Off fumble, to move the ball forward on rare occasions on offense, and similarly for getting the ball out after a defensive recovery) and finally NoS - that's how I'd do it. But that's 4-5 skills before he's reliable, and 4-5 skills I'd typically rather have on someone else more.)

I'm not convinced that a Blitzer or 2nd Witch as ballcarrier/retriever isn't better overall.

I never use them, but I've been frustrated by them in the past.

They are great elfballers, but a liability vs bash. They are also a thrower in all but name, and thus an offensive TV sink that offers nothing on defense.

The reason for their semi-viability are:
- Against wood elves at low TV.
- As a retriever on defense. Gets the ball, and you probably cant cage him, but still keep the ball.

There are no "pie" and "I don't play Dark Elves" options. Sad

I guess I'm not "most people" then. Wink

(Although I must admit it's probably only a lack of time, not of interest or capability.)
