Has anyone played the online game mafia? It is a really fun social experiment type of game. We would need at least 11 people to play, so sign up if you are intrested.
Here is a quick primer of how the game works. Each person is on the side of either the town or the mafia(or possibly a third party team). Play is divided into day and night. During the day, the players talk amongst each other in the thread to try and determine who the mafia is. Each player has a vote, and may vote on one player to lynch. If a majority plus one agree on who to lynch, then that player "dies", and their role is revealed. During, night, the mafia team confers with each other on a seperate message board and decides how to use their powers, including which town member to "kill".
Each player has a role and a power. One common role is cop, which allows a player to determine if another player is guilty or innocent once per night. Another town role is doctor, which allows a player to protect another player from being killed once per night.
The key to the game is that the town is an uninformed majority(that is, they have more players but don't know who is town and mafia), while the mafia is an informed minority(they know who is town and mafia, but are smaller in number).
The game ends when either the town has killed all enemies(mafia players)(town victory) or the mafia outnumbers the town(mafia victory).
So let me know if this sounds like something that would be interesting. We could play with anywhere from 11 to 31 players. |
