well in RL i got an AG5 pro elf catcher (gave him pass block as 2nd skill)
he already has catch and NoS, so makes an excellent defender. next skill likely leap, just to REALLY annoy passing teams

i also got 2 linemen with ag5, and arent sure where to go with em.
atm im considering either all-rounders with dodge, to help give aid when needed, or maybe pair them up as a cage-breaker duo, with leaps and strip ball/guard

+1 Ag on elves is annoying though, as you dont want to waste it, and you get tricky decisions. generalise or specialise?

I´ve had a DE team with 2 AG 5 Leap, Strip Ball Blitzers and they were a terror, cause the ball isnt save anywhere. I think its propably the best thing you can do, cause the pass block and catch combo can only be used when your opponent throws a pass and only if your guy is in range. So, if hes smart, he wont pass at all or pass where you cant reach the ball.
Btw i didnt think about Pro for such a player yet. I think it could be a real good skill for almost any AG 5 Player.

Have to point up that Pro doesn't work when your player isn't taking an action, in fumbbl, so it doesn't help catching the ball. Sorry.
And Block, Dodge, Sure Hands make Strip Ball quite less usefull. Try Leap, Tackle, Pro.

My dark elves have had quite a few +AG players. By far the most useful was the one that got AG6 (she could pick the ball up pretty much anywhere .. as long as it was on the ground).

The ones I have at the moment are also very useful - they both already had block & tackle, so I gave them leap, and now have one with pass block, and one with dodge. They are primarily intended to retrieve the ball from cages, but also make extremely good scorers when it is tough - they can still catch the ball in 1 TZ on a 2+, and even in 2 TZ's it's still only a 3+, which can be worth the risk. With leap, they can also escape from tentacles and from shadowing, so they are pretty hard to stop.

------------------------------

In your particular case, I'd take leap next, then strip ball, or tackle. Since he already has a niggle, he probably won't last that long before he needs to retire. Try to keep him in a position where he can get to the ball carrier - even 2d against blocks are worth trying - especially if you can use strip ball (though most times they will have sure hands).

@nin: I agree. Sure hands is nasty against strip ball, but i guess this is how it should be. But i dont really see your point concerning block and dodge. They make no difference.

What i meant concerning Pro is that an AG 5 Player does all sorts of stuff in his turn, eg throwing, catching, dodging, picking the ball up and leaping. You can buy a "built in" Reroll for most of these. This uses up 3 skills and one double. Or you can buy pro which is one skill and a good chance if you dont mind risky play. So i still have room for nasty stuff like pass block, tackle, sidestep etc. Twisted Evil

@Laviak: Youre up for a nasty surprise if you want to leap away from tentacles...at least before the rules change last year it did not work. But i dont really know if they changed it.

Most coaches take sure hands pretty late in a given Starplayers career. Though some teams take it pretty early like chaos, chaos dwarfs, undead and lizards. But would i take sure hands if i didnt already have accurate, block and safe throw with an elven thrower or with a skaven gutter without blodge, sidestep etc? Only if im really short on rerolls.

This goblin wants to become a thrower.
While he would be a fine lander on ttm, I hesitate to let his fate be decided by peckish trolls.

Blasphemy!
Look at Lupino and you'll know what your Goblin was breed for!

Goblins die. They should die of fright, or die of flight.
Very Happy

How about AG5 thrower with: Pass, S.Hands, Leap and N. of Steel?

Leaping into 3 TZ, having 75% chance to pick up the ball and throwing it to a catcher who scores so the opponents can't throw any block.
Quite annoying believe me. Smile

thats 1roll+1(r) roll+1(r) roll = 3 rolls, two of them rerollable.

in my experience it's very likely that you roll two ones in a row every 3 rolls, so... it won't work!

Really? Let's have a look at this:
a) the chances are 58% - more than less,
b) the chances come up to 68% with spare RR for leaping - quite probable, isn't it?.

You may add a few % if it is enough to leap, pick up the ball and just throw it away.
IMNSHO 60-70% action is quite likely to happen.

And if your are lucky enough to develop a thrower with AG6 then chances are:
a) 81% without RR,
b) 95% with spare RR for leaping.

PS
From your experience... How many double dice blocks in a row you throw without getting double SKULL?

depends, when its 2d against me and my opponent chooses, i can roll around 10 2d blocks without a single skull. then on a 3db in my favour, that's when i roll the 3 skulls... if i can dig out the replay, u will see what i mean...

EDIT: The Shoving Match! Watch the second half, its insane and hilarious!
