should i bother with +1 ag on a rat ogre with the loner trait i doubt that i'll get nearly as much use out of it as i would break tackle guard or any other str skill the only reason to take it over break tackle is to make him a ball carier and i just don't think that's the greatest idea considering the unpredictability of a rat ogre.

I'd go guard.

Yes. I think guard is the best option.

If you dont like the fluff to have one of the most agile rat ogers, ignore the stat increase, its of little use in game. Id take guard.

Guard + P.Tail is a nice combo.
I would consider B.Tackle also.

Take the +AG! It's funnier!

Back in the days when rat ogres were agi3 to begin with, a +agi was a very useful stat to get, allowing him to dodge away multiple times for blitzes with much greater ease. However, now they are agi2, bringing them back to agi3 will make any dodges with them as likely to occur as a linerat, aka not unless you really have to. If you want the mobility, take the break tackle--only good for a single dodge attempt, but you'll have essentially agi5 for that one dodge thx to his strength.

Thanks guys i was realy pretty sure that ag on a rat ogre would be senseless but passing up a stat increase for a skill i can pick anytime is just always hard i'll go with guard as if i get break tackle i'll be tempted to use him to blitz all the time and that's just a risk i shouldnt run. probly pick up break tackle next though as putting prehensile tail wherever i want it is kinda nice.

Break Takle + ag3 is also interesting, imagine the monster with Stand Firm, or ag4, and thinking about it there are not that many strength skills, so a long lived RO may have a problem with development (Guard+Break Tackle+Piling On(why?)+"what! I have nothing else!")

many people around here know better than I do, and surely I'm late, but...

Actually, once you've taken all Str skills, you'll be able to pick other skills you could get on a double (block) - on a regular roll (pretty sure you wont get traits, though). So another reason to not take +AG is that you'll get block faster (if you dont roll doubles that is), and if he survives that long without it Wink

No, you can get traits, as well. My old RO was able to pick up a claw (aka mutation) after he'd exhausted his str skills, which if you don't roll +stat or a double in your first 4 rolls then at 76, 126 and 176 you're treated as having rolled a double, so anything's game--mutation, general skills, traits, etc.
