HI all,
I'm struggling with hypnotic gaze:
1) There are 2 sets of rules, for 'Division 'X' and 'Other', and I am not sure exactly what is meant by 'Division X'. I guess this does not include Academy? Can anyone explain please?
2) In games, I cannot work out exactly when I can(not) use hypnotic gaze...many times I have selected a move action, moved a few squares and then been unable to use the skill...I get a message, "This skill can only be used after a move action". If I then click end move, I cannot reselect that Vamp to activate the skill. Though sometimes it DOES work...
3) It seems to work every time if I click move and then click the skill without moving - but this is quite a restriction!
4) One of the rules sets says it has to be the team's first action - is this the missing link?
In a recent game I moved my Vamp to hypnotize the ball carrier close to the endzone, which would have prevented a TD, but I wasn't able to use the damn skill!
Please help! I'd like to persevere with my Vamp team

I don't know for sure, but is it possible that using HG uses up a movement point? |

Press the red steps for extra step, you do not take them but this will enable you to use hypno when you reach mv 6. |

So it doesn't have to be the first action of the turn? |

By 'turn' I mean the entire team, not the indidvidual Vampire. Just to clarify, I think you're saying it can be used by a Vampire even after other players on their team have taken actions? |

you can take a hypnotic gaze action for a vampire at any time in your team's turn. But it is the last action this vampire does.
Quote: |
Hypnotic Gaze (Racial Characteristic)
The player has a powerful telepathic ability that he can use to stun an
opponent into immobility. The player may use the hypnotic gaze at the
end of any Move action on one opposing player who is in an adjacent
square. Make an Agility roll for the player with hypnotic gaze, with a -1
modifier for each opposing tackle zone on the player with hypnotic gaze
other than the victim's. If the Agility roll is successful, then the opposing
player loses his tackle zone and may not catch or pass the ball, assist
either player on a block or foul, or move voluntarily for the rest of the
team turn. If the Agility test is failed, then the hypnotic gaze has no
effect.

You can take the HG action at any time you want during the turn.
All you have to keep in mind is that HypnoGaze uses up a movement point. So if you move 6 and want to use HG, you have to click on the go for it icon before you can use the skill. |

Got it now - the client is different than the rules in that it 'eats' a movement point to use this skill, where the rules indicate it should be free.
Thanks a lot guys - much appreciated - I'll give those Vamps another shot!

I don´t think its possible to gfi for hypnotic gaze, so keep sure you only used 5 mps. And keep on playing vamps, they´re real fun. |

Yes, I'm 5-2-1 Amazons (only conceded TDs in one game, the loss versus Wood Elves, see below...)
1-0-0 Skaven
...but a ridiculous 0-2-3 with Vampires!
Probably they're suited to more experienced coaches, as the tactics need to be very specific....
On that note I'm going to play with my other teams for a while and come back to Vampires when I get bored with the others! Otherwise my overall coaching stats are going to take a nosedive
Speaking of which, I'm starting up a Wood Elf team as they seem to best suit my playing style...which is technical, avoiding blocking exchanges and playing football.
As an aside, it seems to me that this team is the best in BloodBowl, in terms of winning capability?
Has anyone beaten them, without luckily killing every one of them?!! I can't really see how it can be done - on offence they can't really be stopped with super movement and agility, not to mention rerolls, and on defence they can just keep stepping away a square (with skill reroll) to allow only one blitz per turn.
The main make/break point with them must be the start of the league - if you can survive the early games, then fill the roster, you're away! And given that losing teams will probably be retired/recycled, I'd expect the league's top teams to mainly be Wood Elves!
Do we have information on winning percentages by race here on this site? |

exactly what JanMattys said.
Once they get over TR200, they abviously start losing players faster than getting money for buying new ones... Especially while playing bashy teams with same TR |
