Trolls: Block vs Pro
So, someday I'm hoping that a troll of mine gets a double - well, a double that isn't (6,6). I found myself wondering what was a better choice. Looking at the forums, the expert opinion seems to be block. The logic seemed sound, but some of the maths looked a bit dodgy though, so I decided to have a go at calculating it myself.

I decided to make a chart of the odds of a successful block/blitz by a big guy. I defined 'success' as 1) the big guy performs the action, and 2) is still standing after the block. This does mean that a Push is 'successful'. I like having my tackle zones intact :)

Obviously, this means that my calculations don't apply to minotaurs that well. If they fail their Wild Animal roll they retain their tackle zone, so failure is a bit less drastic, and I've not accounted for Frenzy.

Now, I'm not entirely confident of my results, but I've worked through and can't find any faults:

So, what do we see here? Well, for 'Boneheaded' probability rolls, for 1 DB there's not difference, while for unassisted Really Stupid, Pro is 5% or so 'better' (we'll discuss 'better' later). For 2 dice, Pro is a smidgen better at BH level, and a bit better again at 3 dice.

Thus, I'm convinced - I'll always take block. Why? Well, firstly, consider the type of 'success'. With block, Skull/Pow may bring down the target of your block while leaving you standing - a 'better' success. And secondly, block works when someone else is blocking you. I mean, we're all just using big guys as roadblocks, right?

Conclusion: Block is much better than Pro
