EEL Season 2 Final Division Games

Gather ye round. Have a smoke on one of these here thinking pipes. Peckish? Fancy a punnet of eels? I've got a few right here in my waistcoat pocket. They smell funny? Of course they do lad! They're eels!

It's time for old Zallabar to talk to you about the final games in the EEL divisions. Let's have a look:

v

Grimway Monoliths v Tor Alessi Kestrels

The Kestrels led 2-0 in last year's final before blowing the lead and going home with the second place ribbon and a 3-2 loss. Everything about their second season has shown that they're ready to take the EEL Trophy this time round. They've scored 7 and conceded 1 in two games, picking apart the Bashers and the Black Angelics. Blodge Blitzer Finwë and line-elf Eärendur bring +1 agi skills to the table and a mighty blow catcher isn't to be sniffed at.

The Monoliths are also unbeaten in season two, but they lost 2-0 in their last outing to the Kestrels. Warriors Victus Mortalis and Gladius Faetor have block, and a brace of pestigors are running around with skills (and extra arms). Although Grimway have already qualified for the playoffs, it's likely they'll have to beat the Kestrels at some point to take home the grand prize. They may as well start early?

The stakes are pretty high. The Kestrels look to defend their Eel Pasty Title and the Conclave Drafting place that goes with it.

v

Barren Hills Bashers v Darkmoor Black Angelics

Remember. Eight teams out of twelve qualify for the post-season. That means two third-placed teams out of the three EEL divisions sneak in too and have just as much chance at glory.

The Angelics are in a strong position for a third placed spot. They managed a draw with the Monoliths and have a good casualty differential. A win against the struggling Bashers would guarentee them a place in the playoffs. A +1 agi wight in Lucas Reik can't hurt, nor can raising Valamus from the Grimway Monoliths to fill out the ranks.

The Bashers have struggled to get their game together early in the team's life. This makes sense for Chaos (it doesn't for the Nordland Craghammers, who are just wretched). However, given that the Bashers recruit only the best warriors from across the land, we should expect that they'll turn up and start bashing soon. They must win here to stand a chance of going through.

v

Nordland Craghammers v Drunken Knights of Karak Hirn Norn

The Craghammers are on the chopping block. They have been terrible since the EEL's inception and have at least managed one thing: consistency. They lost 2-1 in a close game against the Reapers in game 1 before a convinving 3-1 beating at the hands of the Warhawk began the death knell. They could still qualify here but they require a win and hard work to reverse their 5-2 td differential.

Karak Norn killed a Craghammer in the pre-season, but they lost 2-0 to both the Warhawk and the Reapers. They've been slow to adjust to the high stakes and brutally quick EEL seasons, being short-legged bearded creatures. However, like Nordland, they still have an outside chance of qualifying. A big win against the Craghammers betters their odds.

v

Stirland Reapers v Athel Loren Warhawk

Two wins a piece from each of these teams. The Reapers won the Craghammers 2-1 on opening day before shutting out the Drunken Knights 2-0 in game 2. Blockle werewolf Callone Stimbally with a trio of touchdowns, two cas and an mvp looks likely to spearhead the attack along with a guard zombie in Grant Worthy that ought not be messed with.

In other news, the Reapers are under investigation for practicing black magicks after it became apparent to the EEL Commish that he still can't see the team's logo (seriously: what's going on with that mate?!)

The Warhawk are a formidable EEL team. This game is about defending their Eel Pasty title and they need a win or a draw to do it. Wardancers Olanis and Laurendor will look to steer a pretty beat up team to the playoffs with three straight wins under their belt. More touchdowns wouldn't hurt. Especially seen as Kestrel Catcher Deryth Garrik now has six touchdowns to Olanis' five!

v

Black Fortress Doomguard v Karak Grom Hammers

The Doomguard are in the playoffs. They took steady 2-1 victories from newcomers the Creeper and reigning EEL Champions the Bretonnia Knights. Can they make it a perfect season with a third win against the Hammers? Two Block BOBs, a +1MA Blitzer and his two MB sidekicks won't hurt.

The Hammers' second game was called off due to a magical maelstrom which the Conclave judged was the fault of these Dwarfs. They won their first game against the Knights 1-0, however, and sit in second place. If these two crucial games fall in the wrong way for them there is still a chance that they can miss out on qualification. Safety isn't guaranteed. They must take points here. In fact, with a big enough win they could even be the first Eel Omelette champions and pull up a chair at the Conclave Draft!

v

Lustria Jungle Creeper v Brettonnia Knights

The Elves ganged up on our champions the Knights at the Conclave and handed them a brutal group. Two straight defeats have been the result of that. Still, this is a team that came back from 2-0 down to with the inaugural Grand Final 3-2. With the Knights on 0 points, the Doomguard through with 6 and the Hammers and the Creepers on 3, the Knights need to pull out a big win here in order to qualify.

The Creeper lost their opening game against Eel Omelette leaders the Doomguard, but they were awarded 3-points after a second round Hammers' forfeit. A win here against the misfiring Knights gets them a ticket to the playoffs but a loss could mean that it's snatched from their grasp at the last moment.
