FFB Development Update XI
It's been very quiet on the FFB development front, a bit too quiet in fact for my tastes. This is due to me having a hard time at work with doing lots of new stuff (C#, ASP.NET and Cloud Computing) and getting into that. On top of watching the world championship I've been ill and had my cellar flooded by the worst thunderstorm we've had around here in a decade. Busy times.

Currently I'm working on implementing some Vampire love, namely the Bloodlust and Hypnotic Gaze skills. The former had its rules changed quite a bit in LRB6 and is tough to implement: A vampire can for instance start a pass action, roll a 1 for Bloodlust, do his move, bite a thrall and then throw the ball. He cannot throw if he has no one to bite at the point of his move where he actually wants to throw. Luckily I'm pretty much done with that (no more OFAB touchdowns, either).

Thanks to Lakrillo and a friend of his I was able to add several sounds (4 in-game and 2 spectator sounds) as well. And no, I won't tell - you'll have to discover them yourself in the next release :-)

Getting help with coding sadly hasn't worked out so far. There have been several offers, Christer and me did spend quite some time to get the helpers set up, but input has been very weak or non-existent. Will have to think a bit on how (and if) to continue that.

Speaking of helpers I'd once again like to thank WhatBall not only for his graphics but also for slaving away at the configuration files to get them player icons set up properly. I will need to use your help again for the portraits, but you've been expecting this, didn't you?

Version 0.5.4 will most likely be released before the end of the month.

Looking forward to the next version and to hear the sounds.

The guy that have recorded them is Josh Mahler aka VocalVoodoo.
I have been working with him on some previous projects and he is a kick ass voice artist.

Also really looking forward to be able to play my vamps as they should play.

Hope you manage to get some halfling-bugfixes in too, way to many strange things happenings to the trees due to the changed stand up procedure and take root together with TTM and blitzes.

Kalimar, you must have the highest average blog rating on the site. I swear some people vote you 5 (instead of the 6 you deserve) just to spite you.

Keep up the good work - you are making something that will hopefully be used for years and years to come!

Glad to have you back Kalimar! :D And I hope all the work and natural disasters are behind you.

I'm ready and waiting to prep all the config files for the player portraits. (And hopefully Christer will stick in some of the new icons then too. ;) )

[Suggestion] In future versions a menu for crowd noises (with the /name code referenced beside) would be great. Many people just don't know them, and the crowd noises add so much fun to the game. Also the delay between the ability to make crowd sounds could be shorter, just enough to respond to a play after a previous one, but not too short to spam the game.

And +1 to Zakatan's sentiment!

Yes Kalimar, I havent forgotten my Slann icons, which will be finished at some stage, but I realise they are small fry (hehe) compared to the massiveness of this project, but its my small (and mostly useless) way of saying thankyou for all your hard work,

I really hope those Slann are ready for the next update.
