Feelings...
Yesterday I played a game where my opponent had some bad luck. And at the same time I had some good luck. We all know those games. Quite often they turn into whine-fest.

I have always tried to relief the pain by telling that these games happen. We all have had them, and we all will have them. This time, without thinking much, I said something that even stopped myself:

The difference between BB and chess is that in BB there's feelings.

Now as I have thought about it for some time, it actually makes sense a lot.

I have always said that when I watch sports, I want to have feelings. Good times, bad times, and everything in between. There's this one match in ice hockey that I remember for the rest of my life like yesterday.

I was in my 20's, and went for a blind date. We went to watch my favorite teams playoff match against "should-be-easy" opponent. The series were best of 5, and my team has amazingly lost the 2 previous games. It sounded like a good plan. Go to the game, easy win for my team, good blind dates.

There has to be Nuffle in ice hockey too, as my team lost the game 0-1. Opponent had just one scoring chance in the whole game, when my team had over 20 good scoring chances. But statistics don't win games. So the playoffs ended, and I remember that after the game I just sat in the bench and I felt so empty. The girl didn't knew anything about ice hockey, and she just wondered why I am so quiet. I nearly cried then, I couldn't believe what has just happened.

Yeah, at the time it really sucked. But it gave me a golden memory and a reminder that in sports anything can happen.

Of course BB doesn't give that strong feelings, but still. It sucks to have bad dice in the game, and it REALLY sucks to have REALLY bad dice in the game. But instead of forgotting those incidents, we sometimes like to remember them with other coaches.

"Oh, I remember when my Troll Blitzed a gobbo, and I threw triple skulls and the Troll died..."

"I remember that game, I rolled 8 double skulls and couldn't pick the damn ball!"

For a game to be enjoyed, it needs to have feelings in it. At least that's what I think. Chess is a nice game, put purely cold and mathematical. You can't pop up in the middle of a game and shout "Yeah!!! Take that you lumpbacked vomitface!!!"

In BB, you can and you should.
