Feelings, part II
Some time has passed since my last blogging. I just played a league game against a coach that I have played many times in leagues. To keep the story short, let me say that we had some misunderstanding in the past. We had different views about whining vs. talking about bad stuff. So when the game started it became soon clear that to close the whole chat window would be the best thing. Why this happened, and if that was a good thing etc. is not the point.

The point is that even as the game itself was tight, with lots of tight spots, some ups and downs, it was one of the worst BB experiences in a long time for me. Technically the game was one of the best ones this summer. But it lacked the feeling from my part.

That is the main reason why I don't play Ranked games almost at all anymore. I don't want to play anonymous opponents who say "grats" when I score, and "gg&gl" when the game ends. It's like playing tabletop, and not saying a word to your opponent.

I love to smack talk. Those who have played with me, and talked with me in IRC/chat, know that. I am not trying to offend anyone, I just love to talk and chat during the game. And in leagues I think that small smack talking is right on the spot. It gives good "friendly rivalry", and makes the game a little more interesting.

Now I played a game where I only watched my pixels to move and rng rolled some numbers for me. And I really didn't enjoy that game as much as I would like to when playing BB.

So if you are going to play against me someday, please do not sit there quiet. I want to talk during the game, just like in "normal" tabletop BB game. This is not poker, where you just aim to win as much as possible, and stay anonymous nickname. In Leagues, this is emphasized even more. You should be playing against friends. And usually friends talk with each other. And it's BB. Your pixels are killing your friend's pixels. So you can get into your "role" as coach and smack talk a little. And opponents should do the same. As long as it's done with humor.

If you take the social aspect away from BB, what have you got then? Not enough for my taste, that is for sure.
