Obi-Wan was a wandering Jedi during their decline. He travelled from system to system, protecting the helpless and defending the weak. When he visited a system called Tatooine he meet a young boy called Anakin Skywalker, who had the potential to become a very powerful Jedi Knight. Obi-Wan decided he had to teach this young man so he could reach his full potential. He stayed on Tatooine and started the training. after teaching Anakin what he needed to know Obi-Wan left Tatooine and continued his wanderings, but returned at irregular intervals, due to the friendship he had built up with the young man.

Anakin, unlike Obi-Wan, was content to stay in one place. He remained on Tatooine where he upheld peace and justice. Anakin married and had children, he never planned to leave his homeworld. But when war came to the Galaxy, everything changed.

When the Clone Wars broke out, Obi-Wan was on Tatooine, he talked Anakin into coming with him to fight in the wars. They both left Tatooine and enlisted in the forces of Alderaan, Obi-Wan as a commander and Anakin as a space-pilot. It was during the war that Anakin met and fall in love with one of Alderaan's princesses. But since Anakin already had a wife and family, they believed that their love could come to nothing. When the Clone Wars ended, Anakin returned to Tatooine and his family, and Obi-Wan to his wanderings. To avoid the persecution of the Jedi, Obi-Wan started travelling under different aliases.

Towards the end of the Clone Wars, both Obi-Wan and Anakin came to the attention of the Emperor. Obi-Wan was quickly forgotten, but the Emperor saw possibilities in the young Anakin. Agents of the Emperor followed Anakin to his home and the Emperor personally oversaw the destruction or corruption of all that Anakin loved. Pushing him as close to the Dark Side as he could. But before he could finish turning Anakin, the rebellion broke out.

Obi-Wan again came for Anakin's help in the doomed rebellion. The Jedi needed the best that they had, and Anakin was one of the best pilots in the Galaxy. Again Obi-Wan was able to convince Anakin to accompany him and they travelled secretly to join the rebellion, via Alderaan. Since the Clone Wars, Alderaan had forsworn violence and disbanded its armed forces, but still opposed the Empire, though not through the use of force. Since the deaths of Anakin's wife and family, the princess and Anakin were now free to consummate their love during the Jedi's brief stay on Alderaan.

Together, with the other Jedi, they helped to hold off the Imperial attacks until the Emperor joined the besieging forces. The fighting dragged on and on, then a partial message reached Anakin from Alderaan. The message was garbled due to Imperial jamming attempts, but it did tell him he had a new son. When the Emperor joined the Imperial siege, it was time for the Jedi to attack. Anakin as the best pilot was to fly the ship, but because Obi-Wan had to stay and direct the defence, he couldn't join the attack on the Emperor. Anakin gave Obi-Wan his light-sabre and asked him to give it to his son.

Anakin flew the four other Jedi through the Imperial fleet and they boarded the Imperial flagship. Four of the five Jedi, including Anakin, reached the bridge and in the ensuing melee the Emperor turned Anakin and between them they slew the other Jedi. The Emperor, with Anakin's help, decimated the defenders and scattered the remaining Jedi, ending the rebellion.

Obi-Wan escaped after the final battle, and fled from system to system, finally evading Imperial pursuit. On Alderaan, the princess watched as Anakin destroyed the Jedi. She got sadder and sadder, finally surrendering to her sorrow. When Obi-Wan heard of her death, he made his way to Alderaan. Once there, the king put Anakin's son into his keeping, but didn't tell him about his twin sister, who was being raised by another of his daughters.

Obi-Wan took Anakin's son to Tatooine and left him in the care of Anakin's brother. Then disappeared into the Dune Sea.

Anakin, renamed Darth Vader, now led the Imperial death squads as they hunted down the Jedi. With the death of each Jedi, Anakin lost a bit more of his humanity. By the time he had finished, he was more machine than man.
