Apologies
So I just wanted to apologize to anyone I had a scheduled match against in the past few days and in the next few days coming up. Last week my youngest daughter of 16 months, Brianne, had been running a slight fever for about a week. For us this is always a concern because She gets "fever seizures" when her temp approaches 102 degrees. Those are scary but usually do not last very long and only happen once, at the initial spike in her fever. She has had 7 fever seizures we are aware of..... Apparently these are relatively common and toddlers grow out of them by the time they are 5 or 6.

Well, her Ear burst last Friday in the night which must have been the source of her temperature; An Ear infection, no biggie. Before we went to the Doctor our oldest daughter of 4 years old, Emma, started complaining about her ears hurting...so I called the doctor's office and they said they could squeeze her in..... We went to the doctor and he confirmed they both had ear infections and it was probably a coincidence and he would prescribe medication. Over the weekend they were both getting better and a lot less cranky...YAY.

Last night my youngest daughter was making some noise as I was going to bed (actually right after playing a game of BB) and I went in and She was seizing....I held her and yelled to my wife who frantically came in...this seizure went on for what seemed about 5 minutes, the longest She has ever has had. We checked her Temp and it was at 106. We then rushed her to the hospital with ice packs and ice pops. She was acting her normal, spaced out needy girl after a seizure. At the hospital, they checked her over and said She should be OK but it looks like She has a sinus infection as well and We need to keep her Temperature controlled as best as we can..... They also told us the seizure shouldn't cause any long term problems but we would never know for certain until She is older. We were at the hospital until later today because they wanted to observe her. Her temperature dropped down to 100 and She was acting normal.

We just found out my Wife is pregnant last week....this one wasn't planned but I guess things happen. All of this unexpected activity this weekend has my wife really stressed out and She literally had a panic attack and passed out this afternoon at her Parent's house. She seems to be OK but She is taking the week off from work to rest and watch over our children. Having her so stressed out is making me worry now.

This has been a weekend from hell and with the crew recovering I won't be able to play unless it is after work which is around 7:00 BB time.....

So anyone I had a game with, again, I apologize. If the games have to played this week and a forfeit is in order, I understand. If not, and god-willing everyone is better by next week, I will be able to resume playing during better hours.

Dude just take care of you and yours... Real life is crazy like that... If your people you are playing know what is going on then either they will understand and be gracious or upset and pissy... Take care of you and your girls, this site will still be here when you get back

All the best, and congratz. BB only goes on in the background, RL is in the forefront. Hope everyone in your family becomes, or already is, a "Legend" :)

My second son got seizures from fevers. My wife and I have always been very tentative and mindful when he gets sick now. At the time it looked more like a Stroke. Very scary. He does not get them now, thank goodness.

Keep that wife as calm as possible and sincerely my best wishes go out to you and your family.

If there's one thing you don't have to apologize for, it's this. Take care.

Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts and words.

@Keggiemckill: Every time She even looks like She may be getting ill, it puts us on pins and needles because the seizures, as you say, do look something like a stroke and they scare the shit out of a parent knowing there is nothing you can do....To feel that helpless when your child needs your help is terrifying.

What helped us with our son, was that he got the seizures in the winter. So we just took him outside and it quickly cooled him off. It wasn't designed, he just kept coming out if it, when we rushed him to the car to take him to the hospital. The cold, outside temperatures coincidently brought him out of a fever/ seizure. 3 years later, every time he gets sick we monitor his temp, and make sure he doesn't have too many blankets on him. Ask you doctor, but bringing the temperature Down ASAP is imperative. I would be thinking about having ice packs ready or perhaps a cold showers right away in these summer months. I work in Celsius, so when he hits a 39, we watch him like one watches a sauce cook. It is terrifying. I am able to look back and sorta smile now. Not that it was funny, but because it's much better now than it was then.

Anyways keep your chin up and don't worry about this site. You aren't someone who is skipping out to sun bathe. Every league will understand. Keep that kid cool, and the wife calm. Good luck to you. Man, I gotta go to work, but I really just want to sun bathe after saying that. :)

Bathtube+cold water could be a quick remedy as well (need to check temperature constantly, it can drop quick! this way).

Holy shit man, good luck with all this stuff. Family life can drain any other resources, and sometimes you just have to let it.
