Costly Wins
My new rats have now managed to improve upon the old rats' Warpstone Open performance, winning two games.

The first one was a fairly epic game vs fan favorite, site admin, and past major winner Kryten. This was the first time I had played Kryten, and he was as good as advertised, showing exceptional positioning and good risk management. Was lucky to win this one, and I think it really came down to his Orcs being a little less ready and my dice coming through in the clutch.

The second game was versus another Orc side, this one a lot more bashy and a lot less guardy. Unfortunately, Kryten had -MA my only guard, which is something I really rely upon against stronger teams. My clawpomber did basically nothing all game, as he lay beside the troll unable to get 2 dice on anything. I managed to knock the ball free a bunch of times, but it kept bouncing back into the the hands of one of his players. In the end, I was left with desperation plays to preserve a late 1-0 lead, and while the dice came through, the win was costly.

My most important player, the leaping wrestle/horns/tackle +ag sacker was dealt a -str late in the match. While two games are in the books, it's almost impossible to expect much more from the kids. Bloodbowl is a cruel game, and although I'd rather have the win than the rat, it's hard to see how I'm going to beat the stiffer competition to come.

This team once boasted 4 +agility gutter runners, and although arguably the best one remains (+MA +AG), I don't have any way to deal with sure hands anymore, and now really isn't the time to be feeding SPP to a rookie gutter.

Big props to B_SIDE for coming through with an awesome logo for the rats! Check it out here:

Ouch, that injury makes you wish you'd had dauntless instead of horns. =/

Looking on the bright side, if you send out a lone rat to receive for a TD, a rookie gutter is quite suitable.

That's how rats roll.

You get 3 matches between the qual and the main event if you win one more. Skill that new guy up a couple times in there.

Nice job getting to the qualifier final.

Congrats!

You're a tough opponent so I'm sure you can pull through!

you also got pretty damn good dice in the second half to stop me taking it to OT, so paying with the GR was not so bad.

:) was a fun game, and he got crippled in style.

I was gonna say something about dauntless over horns... and now... the_Sage beat me to it so I'll just shut up. :)
