LRB4
Did you ever hear of a habit to fire all assistant coaches and cheerleaders?
Of firing nigglers and other players?
Did you ever hear of coaches spending all their money right away even tough they could have needed it but didn't want to bump their TR?
Did you ever hear of a system where the value of a team had to be calculated in such a broken way that fumbbl had to introduce it's own value system?
And people abused it to the maximum over many years.
The site full of min maxing egomaniac coaches crawling over the site for so long and nobody noticed it?

Yes, Min-Maxing existed for many years and you gotta ask yourself, what has changed since then and what is still the same?

Spending all your money to avoid TR bumps no longer makes sense.

Assistant Coaches and Cheerleaders can make a difference now.

Fanfactor is a waste to invest on.

A team with no stars and evenly skilled used to outbeat a team with a few stars and a couple of rookies. So if a team got trashed and a few stars survived it was the best thing to start completely over.
Now a team with a few stars outbeats a no star team easily. As a consequence longer lasting teams stand a better chance against younger teams. When they get beaten up it's all the more reason to play on because only a few stars and rookies will prevail.

Is bloodbowl worse because you can't win with the same strategies you are used to or is it simply just different? Is it such a new concept that a team needs to be build up before it is any good? Is there an issue with that? And if yes does it absolutely need to be fixed?

Maybe it's the coaches attitude that's gotten worse. People complain because they don't like that they don't get much out of the way they used to exploit the rules. And even more frustrating it is to watch somebody making a traditonally unconventional play and be successfull with it. Playing a team with lots of rookies used to be big fun. Was always a point in it. Now it's considerd abusive, although stars still outweigh rookies in TV expenses and class.

Nah, If anything the rules are better then they used to be. There is one thing I would change, one thing that can be a bother especially on mix maxed teams but thats just it.
Bloding Strip Ball elves on TV 1300 don't bother me. I think they make the game more interesting. Forces people to think of other ways than simply just bash and stall to win a game. Nuances. Complexity. Diversity. The many new valid skill combinations offer a broad range of possibilities to change the face of a game. Who used to play the game in a very scematic way and found comfort in his long stalling attempts and 2:1 victories might be in for a rude awakening, because he will find that elves can jump now, vamps hynotice, slann get everywhere and place Diving tackle, chaos just tare through walls of opposing players like they were squishing paper. So many new things to watch out for. And is it just luck when the opponent has a broken player on his side whom i can't stop with a +2 foul? To be honest it often feels to me that all my carefull planning is outweighted by sheer luck. That the opponents have so many ways to throw the basic game dynamics off balance now that I can't possibly explore a solid and reliable route to victory. But I'm also patient and I'm learning. And with every new possibility there is also a new best way to deal with it. I think it is amazing that I can play the game I loved for so many years in a yet different way and still learn so many new things.

How ever it could be nice with a system where it paid off to have subs.

Maybe the 11 most costly players countet against tv at full scale and all others countet 1/2 or 3/4 or where ever the limit was ?.

Then it would payoff to have a mix off different players with diffrent skill. It would pay off to have some subs.

Yeah, people seem to forget about LRB4, man oh man!

I have been playing blood bowl since 1988 and the 2nd Ed rules. LRB6 / CRP is in my opinion the best rule set out there. LRB4 was so bash-heavy in that elf teams simply had to resort to elf ball to develop that I found it boring. Now, with inducements and journeymen, teams can be matched and play against each other with a reasonable amount of fairness.

LRB6 has its exploitable min/maxing but I think it isnt as bad as LRB4 and is weighed against the diversity that Wreckage writes about. Good blog man.

Right on the money.. Always entertaining matches vs you & the coaches who have adjusted as well (Kryten's Till the death etc!), even when the dice don't seem to agree and you have managed to kill your CR somehow ;).

In general I see lrb6 as an improvement, but still miss some things from LRB4. Most notably, the cummulative in TR that made stars more expensive as they got skills. I prefer balanced teams rather than stars+rookies as a concept.
