Vampires!
I've decided to dedicate myself to mastering vampires and pro elves after stints with various teams that don't suit me like chaos dwarves(augh) and undead(yuck) and to some extent necromantic(eh, my apathy is probably inspired more by the string of bad luck I had playing them than anything), and it has been a pretty terrifically obnoxious journey thus far. Pro elves I think I've got down pat, but the creation of a worthwhile vampire team is a monolithic task probably similar to(a 1:1 reenactment, really) trying to build the tower of babel.

It's resulted in many stupendously irritating & hilarious games like this, where I barely manage to squeeze through a game with a handful of players left and a fleeting feeling of elation.

My biggest problem with vampires thus far has been pure attrition, I rarely have more than 7 players on the field by the time the second half starts(though I'm usually able to prevent my opponent from being ahead on the scoreboard during that half) and if the opposing player manages to kick the ball into a place that I can't easily retrieve & pass it in the same turn(or they get perfect defence, or blitz, or anything really) it quickly snowballs and turns into an avalanche of hurt feelings and misplaced trust. Maybe someday, like world hunger, that problem will be solved!

P.S. My overall record is 37/28/28. If you take away all the games I've played vampires, it becomes 29/22/14. Pretty scary, huh? Kinda like one of those anti-drug ads here in the US... "SHE WAS A YOUNG, BRIGHT COACH WITH A PROMISING FUTURE. THEN SHE STARTED PLAYING VAMPIRES..."

P.P.S. This was a really embarassing game and someone might get a kick out of it https://fumbbl.com/p/match?op=view&id=3721307

Vampires are fun, but they really need some skills (or stats!) under their belt before they become moderately effective.

...have you cleared a field yet?

Isn't Blodge/Pro the goal for the base Vampire skill set? Once you get them developed like Kingvan's New Vamps on the Block, they are an absolute nightmare to deal with. I'm not sure how he ever loses with that team.

Imho the skill path for Vamps is Dodge - Block - Pro (take all + Stats)
If you decide to go Pro you must do it for all Vamps on the team.
The main dilemmas are whether to play 4 or 5 vamps and whether to build a Vamp killer (with mb and tackle, I don't believe in PO for Vamps)

2 really cool teams, so great choices. I think Necro are quite cool too. A good vamp coach once told me that the key with Vamps is 'dodge' so kind of re-iterates cdassak's skill choices.

Even with Thrall double skills, dodge over guard (in my opinion). However nowadays nobody really skills thralls.

I think I'd build one killer vamp, killing and pro also have good synergy. I'm not sure on the whole about the pro thing............I guess it's good now that vamp biting isn't so bad.......I don't think I'd get much of it..........but saying that I got taken apart by a pro vamp team once, so......

Blodge is key, yes. Pro is good, but having blodge, stats, and a few tackle is also very important. I'd advise a block sure hands thrall. A single POMb vamp is good (even gets jumpup on normals). However, block tackle Mb PO jumpup dodge pro is just a skill too many. Priorities! Personally, I think I'd skip dodge on a killer.
