Emotions
I'm always amazed how some people can get so worked up by a bunch of pixels that they resort to abuse and threats during a game.

Yeah I can understand frustration when the dice don't go your way or your opponent throws lots of 1d pows but come on people, grow up and get over it.

abuse and threats???
Do people do that?

I must admit I get a bit cheesed off from time to time and type the occasional Lol and Pfft when I get a bad dicing, but abuse and threats really?

Yep, seen it with my own beady little eyes, couldn't believe it.

Luckily its a rare occurance (that i've seen anyway).

Release the rage and embrace the love :D

Not had too many of those kind of opponents in my 7+ years on Fumbbl... had one fairly recently though. The word that came to my mind as an apt description rhymed with "brick". :)

I don't mind people berating their dice, or nuffle, or even the odd "Fail something!" remark to the opposite coach, but when you start getting told that "you are the worst coach I've ever played" and other such, perhaps more insulting and personal comments, you do tend to wonder why the opposition bothers to play at all if it makes them that miserable and bitter.

Actually come to think of it once I played some one and gave them a right dicing, and I could see they were angry from some of the comments they were making, so I agreed with him and said "aye that was harsh" and the guy flipped and said I was taking the p*** out of him and rubbing it on purpose lol. Madness, and I got added to his black list for that lol - no need :)

It isn't just restricted to the new or very young managers either. Even some experienced managers are rather unfriendly or abusive. And that doesn't even require pixel death.
Though I would say people invest a lot of hours into developing teams.

@Keith - This blog isn't aimed at anyone in particular, just seen a lot more rage recently than usual and i find that alarming.

The global zeitgeist has changed. Suddenly we find ourselves in a world full of bad actors and hostility. If the world were explainable through Masterbook mechanics, I'd say that the approved actions this turn were "screw your neighbor" and "bitch about stuff you can't control." Give it a few years, and people will cool down as soon as they don't desperately need to escape into their games in order to feel like anything's working.

nonsense

most people have always been asshats.

nothing much has changed.

much bollocks is said during games. for me its allways funneh ;-D

see pythrr, that's why I often argue for well defined rules, as your advice of "don't be a dick" to keep things running nicely is in contrast to your observation here.

pffft, i will not say if it's the truth or not the truth, but if people are getting emotions then it's the reason to say that they are treatening fumbbl very seriously. I mean there and here are people whose loves bloodbowl so much and they wants to be good coaches.

If someone is getting emotions or been frustrated then they are the fanatics of bloodbowl and partially fanatics of fummbl.

ps. from psychological aspect, i think that there are the people whose loves to watch how opponent is angry, frustrated and getting emotions. It's fun for them.

Yer see. It nowt to do with dice pixels dying or bad dice.

it's just dudes like Pythrr. ;)

I know at least one player who actively uses sledging and trash talk to put an opponent off (Table top, not fumbbl).
Worse, he's a good mate and knows exactly how to get under my skin.
He keeps it to the game and never lets it get personal. Done right it's an art form.

I'll bitch and moan about my luck or an opponent's luck...but I'll never get pissed at someone because the dice happen to be favouring them. It's not their fault.

Keep the personal stuff out of it and it's all good. Resort to name calling and you're just - as the Americans put it - a Douche.
