CIBBL - Who's Inside the Outcasts? - Chabal Edition
CIBBL - Who's Inside the Outcasts?

After the success (of the programme, not the Outcasts) of CIBBL's "All or Nothing: Waystone Outcasts" show that followed the Half-Elves disastrous tour of the Haunted Hills in Spring Year 7, those wacky CIBBL marketers have come up with something new for the viewing public.

The new show "Who's Inside the Outcasts?" will follow an individual player through a game, displaying their highs and lows, and giving some insight into the players beneath the beautiful hairdo's.

This second installment features Outcasts hardman, Glynvor Chabal.

Chabal is a real fan favourite, and his dogged persistence is admired throughout the league (although detractors say he is well past whatever prime he ever had). At this point in time Chabal is a veteran player and is often seen in the thick of the action. He has certainly picked up a few knocks throughout his career, so lets first step back in time and see how he came to be the player we know today.

Glynvor joined the Outcasts for their third ever game, but it wasn't until their 19th (and his 11th), that something notable happened...

Year 6 Autumn - Wood Division vs Terra Firma (Earth Elementals)

Chabal is still a fresh faced and bland looking half-elf, without his trademark mohawk. He has already shown an aptitude for guarding his teammates, and begins the game with a bang, cracking the armour of Gawm!

But only a handful of turns later the mighty Eard, the King Within the Mountain exacts revenge and takes Chabal down, smashing his ankle.

Year 7 Spring - Haunted Hills vs Nagashizzar Nightmares (Necromantic)

Just five games later we reach one of the darkest moments in Outcasts history where they suffered 8 casualties at the hands (claws?) of the rampaging wolves of the Nightmares. Chabal was now a veteran, proving himself adept at blocking and brawling, but in this game he was the weak link that begat the onslaught.

It's only turn one and here we see Chabal leading the line for the Outcasts, only to be swiftly downed by Fluffy. As yet unharmed, but the shambling zombie Walach blatantly puts the boot in right in front of the ref!

Chabal looks done for, but the Outcasts apothecary is speeding onto the pitch...

...just managed to save his life, but the fractured skull he received means he won't be the same again. In fact this is the incident that caused Chabal to shave the side of his head and grow his mohawk. The tattoos you see on each side of his skull are a reminder for each Outcast teammate that was injured that day.

Year 7 Autumn - Wood Division vs Sandstorm of Settra (Dust Goblins)
match link
And that brings us back to the present day where we find the grizzled Chabal a year on from his first appearance. Facing the many freakish beasts of the Sandstorm team he is unfazed, but playing too loose and he is knocked out of the first half on turn one.

Looking more determined as the Outcasts line up for the second half we see Chabal getting in amongst it straight away, marking up both a Tomb Scorpion and a Dust Goblin.

The goblin Kniscant attempts to shove Chabal out of the way, only to find Chabal's fist punching through his ribs instead!

A few turns later we see Chabal facing up against another Tomb Scorpion, and with the aid of a few teammates, dashing its head into the turf!

As the Outcasts are trying to see out the game with a 3rd touchdown, we see Chabal at the front of the screen, with hordes of undead beasts bearing down on him.

Always willing to put his body on the line to protect his teammates, Chabal suffers a broken neck at the hands of the Bone Giant Tehuti!

The Outcasts manage the rest of the game and walk off with a comfortable 3-1 victory putting them at the top of the Wood Division standings for now.

Glynvor Chabal's game stats: 7 turns played, 2 blocks, 2 CAS, suffered a broken neck.

Fantastic write-up of a much battered player.

Tackling style inspired by his French namesake ‘caveman’ no doubt.
