Painting Blog – Couple more stars
First a quick advertisement, Prez has been drumming up some coaches for the White Isle League as there were a couple of spots open. These have been filled and the extra people are joining our feeder league the WIL Fringe. This league is always recruiting and I need just 1 more coach to start a new season. PM me if interested.

I have made some more progress with quest to paint up all the 56 Blood Bowl star players.

After completing Ithaca I thought I’d turn my attention to some other skeletal players. Back in 2012 I was commissioned to paint up a team for the NAF GT for the first time and picked Khemri. I had long been planning this team, already acquiring lots of parts from bitz services online. It was quite a task and in the end I finished the team at the very last minute, although a horrid case of varnish frosting almost ruined everything.
I was really happy with the idea and pleased at how the combination of 40K and fantasy models went together to form a unique and characterful Blood Bowl team.

When it came to designing Humerus I used the same models for that Khemri teams linemen. I did use a different head, picking that of a chariot crewmember as it had a greater feeling of movement. Aside from that the other parts were pretty much the same, since he is effectively a catch-ra he was given a catcher’s mitt, from the Impact conversion spruce. I also gave him a single shoulder pad as that is common to see amongst catcher models.
Most of the work was to reposition him to be in a running and catching pose, taking inspiration from one of the 5th edition human catchers.
For his paint scheme I began with the colours from the Khemri team, he can only play for that race and I like the idea of stars fitting in, such as the Ramtut conversion I did for them. He was a star though and so deserved a little more flair. Blue is a colour often seen with tomb kings and so I added areas of this such as his loin cloth and on his headgear. His forearm guard was given some Khemri writing as extra decoration and his single shoulder pad got a white star, this could have a number added to it in the future.
His base was done using the same dried earth technique shown in my bases article on the NAF site.

Setekh was made using the same parts as a blitz-ra I had made for the khemri team. One of the *name* crew had quite a dynamic pose as if surging forward and I really liked that for a bliter style player. Since Setekh was a star blitz-ra I decided to use this again, but he did need something to differentiate him as a star. I took the shoulder decoration from a plastic tomb priest and the head from another priest with the mask from a tomb guard. Some greenstuff was needed to fill gaps, but aside from this it was a pretty simple conversion.
As with Humerus some blue was added to brighten his colour scheme, both his loin cloth and parts of his headdress and shoulder decoration were painted blue. The rest of his colouring was the same as the rest of the team being red with gold decoration and dark brown bandages. As with Humerus he had some writing added to one forearm guard and lacking any shoulder pads a star on the other guard.

With these 2 done that now makes 31 of 56 stars completed.

I have made a little progress with my ogre team, it looks like I have pretty much all the bits I need to make the ogres themselves. The snotlings will be a bit trickier, I’ve managed to get 3 of the 6 larger bloodbowl snotlings that I like. The other 3 might be possible but they are not cheap for such small models. I do have a bunch of WHFB snotlings that could be converted. I am unsure of the amount the team would need, 10 is the minimum but often they will have less than 6 ogres on the team meaning up to 12 might be needed.

Aside from these I have been working on finishing off 2 more articles for the NAF site. The first of these is concerning the peripheral models, things like; markers (re-rolls, turn, score), coaching staff (cheerleaders, apoths, coaches) and inducements (Halfling chefs, wizards and bloodwieser babes). The last is ironically the first article I ever wrote and previewed here about choosing colour schemes for Blood bowl teams.
The text for these is largely done but there are quite a few models I need to make and paint up specially for these articles and that is holding me up due to limited painting time.

Finally there is a super-secret project I have been working on for the past few months, progress is going well and I am on schedule to reveal it at the end of July.

Awsome work mate !
Not sure if its the look your going for but i used WHFB ogre kingdoms gnoblars for my snotlings as with a cut to an arm or leg the pose changes drasticlly and some of them have small weapons like rocks or broken bottles in their hands or pots on their heads for armour
