“Coming into the match, we knew we didn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning, esp looking across at two str4 dwarves, an agi4/blodge dwarf, block and guard all around and two stars, including that bitch, Zara, bane of all things dead. What I didn't expect was a roller coaster of luck and emotion where Nuffle kept giving us a glimmer of hope, only to laugh at us again and steal it away.
First half, a lucky POW to his blodger gives the ball up, and the Count picks it up, survives the counter-blitz. We have a man in position, no dwarf can catch him, only need to get him the ball...oh, I'm sorry, Nuffle has decided to deny your request at a successful pass, give the ball to the dwarves again to score as the half expires.
Second half a failed dwarven dodge lets the necro passplay wolf-to-wolf work for a score, and game's knotted at 1-1. Zara gets ejected, one of his str4 dwarves is ko, we might have a shot, right? And when we get a complicated series of maneuvers involving the count, hypnosis, dodges, gfi's and a POW, we're in position to win. Two agi4 wolves surrounding the ball, screeners between the rest of his dwarves and the ball, 3 turns to go. Easy as pie, right?
Oops, I'm sorry, Nuffle has more fun planned at your expense. An agi2 dwarf makes a series of dodges which even my agi4 wolves haven't been able to complete all day so far, laying a tz on the ball. Fine, whatever, we'll simply thrown one block to free up a couple assists who will come down to knock the offending dwarf off the ball, then I can pick it up without dodging and without tz's for the score...
...looking back, I shoulda just tried to dodge, as my block went double-skull, no rr's left, and suddenly the dwarves are stunning everything left and right, and that blasted agi4 blodger has the damn ball once more! Fail my gfi try to blitz him, and now there's nobody who can touch him. He has to hurry, as the half is winding down, but his runner has more speed than I can reach, esp when I fail yet more gfi's. Game over, dwarves win, as expected, but damn, did Nuffle keep giving my necro chances which we promptly f*d up.
