“A good, tense match that went down to the wire.

1st half:

Ever seen an elf team hold the ball for 7 turns? Me neither! I failed at an early attempt to crack open a gap and settled into a cage...and so it continued. I'd set up a 2-die block to break out some receivers, except the result wouldn't include any knockdowns - so I waited and waited. Finally managed to get two receivers out, one was blitzed down and the other marked. Knocked away the marking man and passed for the gfi score. 1-0 and no time left for my opponent to score.

2nd half:

We trade typical elfball lightning fast scores and the High elves receive the kickoff looking for the score. 2-1. Roll perfect defense, my kicker drops the ball just behind the linemen, his thrower snags it and whips it over to his catcher by the sideline. Next block disaster strikes! My opponent missed my guard lineman and throws a 2-die block my choice with a skull showing (no rerolls). I set up a 2-die block on his catcher and knock the ball out of bounds where the Pro Elf partisans throw it back in on my side of the pitch. I scoop it up, set up a screen along the sideline, and survive a blitz when his catcher failed a gfi/dodge (can't remember which) right at the feet of my ballcarrier. I make 1 gfi and score. 3-1.

Postgame:

I managed to skill 3 players and now have enough money to buy another blitzer. Yeah! With this match, my pro elves complete the ELF cycle for the 1st time. Nothing left to do but try to improve my scores and build for next season.”
