“First game for SWL Season 15 saw a great crowd of 117 thousand (a Fossils record) came out to see a tight and entertaining game between the Subterranean Slavers, on their return to Conference after a time in Premier, and the Fossils. While some punters have these two teams high on the list to take out the season, and both teams were looking to restructure after Conference salary cap effects.

The Slavers won the toss, received the kick and rolled in a 5 turn TD. Most notable play was Fumbla's foul that KO'd the Fossil's emerging star Vrool. The Fossil's two star skinks, Balljuggler and Balldrinker II replied with a classic 2 turn TD.

The Fossil's looked to minimise damage for the end of the first half by kicking with a deep setup, but Fumbla's foul ways saw both Drysd BH and Rigdush II KO'd to his continued unsportsmanlike behaviour (though admittedly very effective). 1-1 at half time.

The Fossils received for the second half with only 8 fit players taking the field - but offense was't a big problem, with Balljuggler and Balldrinker II combining again for another 2 turn TD.

The Fossils were then left to defend the 2-1 lead with 8 players. Fumbla's antics and the ref's lack of action spurring the Fossil supporters to take justice into their own hands by invading the pitch, stunning 3 Slavers. The Slaver fans, not to be outdone also invaded the pitch and stunned four Fossils, leaving just 4 defenders standing.

Not surprising, Ballnasher's kick in the middle of the invading crowd only just made it into the Slaver's half and was right on the sideline, out of reach from all the Slaver's standing players. Fumbla's response? - KO Ballnasher with his boot. Balldancer with a daring run picked up the ball briefly until Ze'ur Trei'ier flattened him on the sideline where the crowd retrieved the ball and deftly threw it midfield to the Slaver's Stompy.

A tight rolling maul then formed for the Slavers as they drove with measured pace for the endzone. Balljuggler and Balldrinker II, stars of the offense, suddenly found themselves way out of position in the last line of defence. While they kept standing up bravely, they could neither hurry or stop the well timed maul that presented a turn 16 score to equalise the game at 2-2.

A special note for Fossil Fans... Vrool was RIPed by a fifth Fumbla foul in back-play. Thankfully the Apoth was on the job to bring the big fellow back. And for some reason this action of Fumbla's was actually noted by the ref and he was ejected. Of course it was too little too late after 5 fouls that all caused players to leave the field. Actually the rest of the Slavers were all bark without bite, for the only other exit from the field was Vrool (again) as he failed to break away from a Slaver's tackle.
