“The Bite took to the pitch for the last time before the Blitz Invitationals. They rounded up a nice and easy 19 points and got a new skill. However, the money was poor and so were the fans.
Narf! got Buzzing and Extra Training, both of which helped, but could not stop the Vampires.
The Bite kicked off first deep in their half. The Skaven team failed to go after the ball however before the first turnover. Therefore, they started way too deep to recover, especially since the Bite was doing a good job of keeping the rats in front of them due to probably sheer numbers. The thrower failed an easy pass and messed up the remnants of a gameplan for Narf! And when Neogretanor, a new Vampire, rushed in and ran away with the ball, the rats failed to blitz him and almost let him dodge right into the endzone for a touchdown late in the half, which was held up for injury time. 1 - 0 Shadow Bite
But the real killer was just before halftime. A short kick forced the rats to pass in order to secure the ball. But the catch was dropped by the team's only gutter runner, ensuring a 1 - 0 lead going into the half. However, the real tragedy for the rats was when that gutter runner was knocked down and then Fromal, a new Thrall, fouled him out of the game with a badly hurt and the ref was too intimidated by the crowd to do anything about it. Without that gutter runner, Narf! never was able to get back into the game.
In the second half, with just a few Skaven left, the ballcarrier was exposed, but an untimely miscommunication between coach DeadRabbit's calling pad and the microphone in the players' heads allowed the ballcarrier, Lothromentes who has +Ag, to pass it off to Dimitrik, who scored and also improved his agility after the match. 2 - 0 Shadow Bite
Nuffle was on the Bite's side as another short kick allowed the Bite to blitz their thrower and somehow knock him down, popping the ball free. The Bite pounced on it and the rest of the Skaven players were too busy caught up in a huge mid-pitch brawl. In this fight, Fromal paid for his earlier foul by being fouled in turn. He was nearly killed, but instead of the cleat coming down on his forehead, it barely missed and broke his jaw, preventing him from playing in this round of the Blitz Invitationals, and ending his career as a Blood Bowl player. Anyway, the Bite scored and the Skaven were out of it. 3 - 0 Shadow Bite.
We got this statement from coach Oblitzamanger after the game. "I want to thank coach DeadRabbit for playing. He asked for a recovery match and I gave him one. The only dissapointment was the money. But, what can you do, right?
"Praise to Nuffle who obviously favored us today. To be fair, we didn't make too many dice rolls, but we still made quite a few and most of them were successful. For that, I am very grateful. The team did well today too. I was hoping for another skill or two, but whatever...
"Even though this was a recovey match, both team's apothecaries were at work bringing players back from the dead, which is good for both teams. I think the team is ready for the Championships. They are looking strong and feeling allright to play hard. I am very proud of them."
After that, he ran off to the center of the pitch and made a great sacrifice to Nuffle. The show was very pleasing to Him and he bestowed his grace upon the team for the tournament.
Coach Oblitzamanger retired Fromal, who became an assistant coach, and hired Burguck, a new Thrall.”
