“SWL Season XVI kicked off with an impressive win by the Fossils.

The first half was nervous for the boys, with Balltosser finding himself on the end of Slasher Puppie's fang, and one of the big boys sitting out the back over the trench evacuating dinner. So the 2nd and 3rd setups saw the Fossils with 9 players on the field. A period of bad luck on both sides finally fell the Fossils way towards the end of the first half, and the score ballooned out to 2-0 at the break.

The second half commenced with a promising drive for the Citadel Ancients after a very wayward kick (kick skilled Ballnasher's niggle getting the better of him for this game). A promising drive came undone to yet another Vrool blitz. Some safety running by the skinks saw the ball advanced a 3rd time, but Slasher Puppie tried one last daring dodge too many, KO'd himeself and the Fossils were free to score a 3rd. The coach ArtaXerxes waved the skinks away, calling for the captain Parbag to pick up the ball as score. Alas with 6 attempts he could not roll a 5+. (perhaps his -ag injury is worse that first thought?)
