“I wasn't really in this match right from the kickoff.
Turn 2 of the first half saw all 3 BH's fall my way. I still had hope of keeping this a game, so I used the Apothecary to save the 3rd one. I was able to at least escape down only one after the first half being rather outnumbered, thanks to KO's.
The 2nd half was not very kind. I started a sideline formation, which wasn't all that bad, but the KO's came fast and hard. I attempted to throw a block at the beginning of turn 4 to free the thrower to step back and reset, but rolled double skulls, rerolled to... you guessed it, double skulls. He pounded the thrower that turn, and KO'ed another guy, leaving me with only 5 on the pitch. Now HERE'S the horrendous part....
I have one guy standing, who is completely surrounded. I have 4 guys down, one of which is in my opponent's half of the field. His catcher is standing on the goal line waiting to walk in. Only because he has the Ref, he FOULS the player who is down on his half of the field. Why on earth would you do that???? I mean, I am about as liberal as they come when it refers to fouling, but there are good fouls, there are not-so-good fouls, and then, there are fouls that make absolutely no sense whatsoever. This was one of those fouls...
He scored on his turn 6, kicked off, and I just ran toward his catcher, knocked him down, and fouled the crap outta players for the rest of the half. I guess that I took some exception to that absolutely ridiculous foul. When it means something, I have absolutely NO problem with it. In fact, in the tabletop environment I learned this game in, you were considered a girlie if you didn't foul. This, however, was a pound of salt in a fatal wound. So, if my response to that makes me petty, so be it...
Bottom line though, Bera won, I lost. It's not like he was a bad coach. He had his men in good positions to do what was needed. Just an extremely poor choice of sportsmanship in the 2nd half (and again, that is just my opinion.)”
