This was my first match as an Academy 'instructor', and a lesson was certainly given!

Instead of giving a game report, I'll comment on zarius' play instead, in the hope that some things can be improved upon.

zarius had a number of problems in his gameplan:

1) Backing off too much. When kicking, the Wood Elves backed off very deep, allowing the Chaos to drive deep into his half in very few turns. A common Wood Elf tactic is to stand one square in front of the cage, dodging away to do so if necessary, with players behind the front line to halt movement after a blitz. This allows only one blitz per turn, and slows the cage's progress to a crawl. This might have been usefully employed.

2) Nobody in range to score; this was true in both offense and defense, meaning I didn't have to mark a player deep in my own half. This also meant the Wood Elves had nowhere to go if they managed to shake free with the ball.

3) Cage-busting - zarius finally figured out the standard Wardancer cage-bust move in the 2nd half i.e. cancel out assists from the cage corner players, then leap in for the 1 dice blitz. Unfortunately, it didn't work out on that occasion, and the Wardancer was immediately removed from the pitch. He did manage to leap and blitz the ball-carrier after I broke my cage late in the first half, but I was able to retrieve the situation.

4) Offense - it was apparent zarius didn't know how to score in two turns with Wood Elves. Instead, he formed a cage, then tried to break free in the next turn, leaving a very long pass. On both occasions, this failed. The first attempt would not have resulted in a TD anyway, unless his Wardancer had survived the inevitable blitz - I call this desperate strategy "In Blodge we trust".
Wood Elves work best when driving deep into the backfield on the first turn, and awaiting the pass or hand-off to score in the second. One will get blitzed, the rest will get marked, but a dodge and blitz should free the eventual scorer, without having to brave TZs when he receives the ball.

The Doctrine did manage to score a beauty in the very last turn, showing how to move the ball three-quarters of the pitch length in a single turn, in a manner Wood Elves normally would.

5) Choose your blitzes wisely - when trying to dislodge the ball from a cage, the main targets are the corner, or the ball carrier. I noticed that quite often, a peripheral beastman would receive the blitz instead, allowing serene progress down the pitch.

Overall, zarius didn't press hard enough for the ball; Wood Elves have to be aggressive in this regard, otherwise they either run away or get into a fight they will lose. If the opposing coach isn't worrying about losing the ball and conceding a TZ in a single turn, he can force the play.

Lastly, zarius has committed the cardinal sin of taking 1 FF with a Wood Elf team. This may help in the short term, but the restricted cashflow will almost certainly kill the team eventually. He may not have been worrying too much, as this is an Academy side, so I'll refer to the User Guide and leave it at that:
