It was a stinking hot day as these teams faced off against each other for the second season in a row. The Roughguts had the best of the first game (2-0) with the Fossils limping away with their dead and injured. Not so this game... games scores leveled 1-1 :-)
The Roughguts palmed the coin for the kickoff, and also did some magic getting the double niggled Sanchez onto the field.
The first kick by the Roughguts was a shocker, and the retrieved ball was give to rookie Saurus Vraal. Plan A came unstuck when Nads stood up to 6 block dice thrown by Gidush II. Plan B was a handoff to the skinks, for Ballspinner to run the ball deep into the Roughguts half away from the short legged men, and score a turn later.
The heat however had taken its toll on the big lizards, with Drysd, Vraal and Vugdish III all to exhausted to take the field. Only Vengence for the Roughguts was so affected. Keeping out 11 rampaging dwarves with 4 big lizards isn't easy, and proved too much this time round. 1-1 at half time.
However the second half saw the Roughguts suffer from the heat with both Sanchez and Wilford off exhausted. Some big hitting then saw Rigdush II badly hurt by Nads, who in turn was badly hurt by Vugdish III. The turn of the game occurred when Boots fell over going for it in order to blitz Balljuggler. The cage was opened and the ball came loose. Fatrug then got greedy and rerolled a pushback to get doubble skulls. A dodging blitz by Trev knocked the ball free temporarily. The ball was recover by Balljuggle, but again Trev blitzed after dodging into then out of a tackle zone (elf @#$%) and knocking poor Balljuggler over again, and in elf-like fashion caught the bouncing ball in a tacklezone (sod). Still, Trev was a lone Dwarf making life hard, and eventually the Fossils got the ball over the line.
A last desperate play by the Roughguts couldn't produce the equalizer, and the Fossils were home 2-1.
