“Game #44 - SWL Season 17 Round 4

A somewhat disappointing crowd turned up to see this return bout between teams from the same Conference last season. The Fossils were considered favourites by most bookies, till star Ramtut III ran out onto the field in Citadel Ancient colours. The Fossil crowd was hushed.

Parbag won the toss and elected to field. As the kick was in the air a Fossilised rock KO'd wolf Snarling Death. Then the first block of the day (by Erool III) sent Shuffles back to the dugout with broken ribs which he couldn't put together again. It was looking like a long day for the Ancients. However the injuries inspired Ramtut III and with his first block he badly hurt Erool III and sent him packing for the game.

The game then settled down to some more normal play, with the Fossils running the ball deep, Kill junior doing his best playing fullback but without support couldn't stop Balldrinker II crossing just before half time.

The start of the second half saw a defining moment when Gidush II broke Ramtut's III leg giving the star a niggle. Without Ramtut III on the field, the Fossils started to out-mussel the Citadel Ancients even though Ripper Puppy quickly scored the equaliser.

Fossil fans, learning from the last game when 2 Fossil players were hit by rocks, threw their own 2nd rock in a game, this time badly hurting Ripper Puppy (the other wolf – well done fans in getting 2 from 2). Some leaping from Balljuggler and usual running play saw the Fossils skip out to the 3-1 win.
